Since Wednesday, we've experienced unexpected boost of our forums traffic, basically traffic to our forums have doubled. This has caused our servers to be bit shaky during the last couple of days. We have fixed and optimized tons of stuff on site to overcome these issues and hopefully have managed to solve the issue by now.

As always, if you continue to experience problems, post your findings here and we'll try to sort it out.

What ever you done, you got that darn side bar opening up every time you move in here again.

That forum is slammed right now.

The FREE TO AIR (FTA) threads in the Digital TV forums are always very busy. FTA is a HOBBY that covers many countrys and its hard to understand how large an area this covers. I started answering just a few questions there and it has exploded into a major area. One member even started another web site just for the many update files needed to keep FTA going. This extra site was opened to help keep some pressure off Afterdawn when the downloads are needed. However the main discussions still take place on AD. What might be part of the problem is when FTA encryptions change, the OFFICIAL FTA sites out there all seem to get locked up from the millions of people looking for answers and files. When those sites lock up, everyone comes here looking for those same answers and in most cases Afterdawn usually handles the traffic. I can guess that this does cause somewhat of a slowdown. I don't have any background in running web sites or forums so I have no answer to the actual problem, just trying to explain what might be part of the problem. FTA encryptions change every few weeks and sometimes more often.

The Forum Search is still broken, all i get is this -

edit- am also having trouble with hiding threads, i get a "Whoops" error page come up, but so far the threads in question are actually being hidden. But without the Forum Search working we can't locate all the posts made by spammer/scammer scum

edit- changed pic to a link as it was fouling the page margins

I've been doing some major security improvements on the site, which has resulted also some errors during the process. (we've plugged bunch of XSS holes on the site, improved dramatically the security of our user database, etc)

Now the thread hiding page and forum search should both be functional. But if you find something weird, let me know.

Disk I/O taking a beating on the cache server. Eased the load on it a bit, and hopefully everything should run smoothly for the rest of the day. =)
