Having read about AnyDVD here, I decided to buy it, but when I installed it on my machine it caused the machine to fail to read any DVD's and eventually, lock up.

The first time I used it (on a DVD that will play on the machine but will not rip), it didn't seem to interfere (although it didn't help the DVD to rip).

Thereafter when I inserted a disk, nothing happened. Clicking on the little fox, I got up a dialogue box saying the the DVD drive was disabled.

On trying to click on the DVD tab, AnyDVD locked up, and when I tried to look at the drive in MyComputer, Explorer locked up as well.

At this point, WIndows would not even shut down, so after giving it a couple of minutes to write the cache, I did a hard reset and tried again.

This time it didn't read at all, but when I brought up AnyDVD it said there was no disk in the drive (untrue) before effectively locking up the machine.

I reverted to a system restore point before I installed AnyDVD and I can now read DVD's again.

Has anyone else had problems like this?

Sounds like the setup file you downloaded form Slysoft may of been corrupt. As long as you've got the serial#, re-download the setup file from Slysoft and reinstall anydvd.

Before you re-install anydvd, I recommend you disconnect from the net, shut down any apps running in the backround (ie. antivirus etc..) then install. Reboot and try it again. This is the way I did it and had no problems with using it.

Have you ever had DVD43 installed? I just had a problem the other day, AnyDVD told me I didn't have a burner. Then it said uninstall reboot then reinstall and reboot. Worked ok after that.
