hey peeps,

i dont know if it matters here but i had the retail version of Ultraviolet 2 weeks before release. i compared the special features between my copy and store bought and they are the same. the image for my version was slightly over size fitting of a 4.7gb disc and i cant remember if it had any of the protection crud but once i shrank, with AnyDVD 6.0.1.1 in the background, the movie was uncompressed leaving 100% quality while menus, special features and other stuff compressed to about 98.1 to 98.2%. mine is an NTSC R1 copy. if anyone cares to comment on this please feel free

ahhhhh!!! cobras

Previously I just used AnyDVD along with Nero Recode2, movie only. Since my version is Nero Ultra 6 I started to have problems with Sony movies and had to use other methods and tools. My PC kept locking up with Recode2. I used AnyDVD 6.0.1.1 + DVD Shrink + dvd region css free 5.9.7.9 and that worked fine for the complete movie burning with Recode2. But too many hoops for my lazy butt that?s use to just using Recode2 with AnyDVD in the background.

After seeing a couple members mention no problems with Nero 7 I downloaded the trail version and it did the trick along with AnyDVD in the background. I always prefer movie only for less compression.

So thanks N2DVD & cartjunky for the tip on Nero 7, I bit the bullet and upgraded from Nero 6. :)

ScubaBud--I know the feeling with recode V6 i had the same process too for a while. I found that the good old DVD Decrypter File mode, VOBBlanker, then recode is a good way around it. Matter of fact, I started using Blanker regularly after I seen recode times and the overall process speed up after Blanker did its business. Still use Shrink if its a multi title(standard vs. widescreen) but added vobblanker because it sets all the files up nice for recode to crunch through them.

I rip to HD with AnyDVD, Recode2 and burn. No problem if you have AnyDVD.

The problem is there are films that Nero Doesnt like even with AnyDVD because of blank cells and bad file structure. However that process still works 99% of the time.

@Deadrum33

You're Deadright about Nero Recode and AnyDVD. Those that cause the hiccups, I always get done with Shrink almost 100% of the time.

Ripping to your HD with AnyDVD and using Nero Recode2 from Nero Ultra 6 didn't work with this movie.

Believe me when I say that I have an arsenal of programs with the ability to burn any movie that has come my way. The previous point I was trying to make was that with AnyDVD running in the background and just using Nero 7 Recode did the job with advanced analysis in less than 25 minutes when burning movie only on my PC.

Glad to know that 7 gets rid of some of the glitches that 6 has, I usually only read of how much buggier it is. I usually do main movie also, and was trying to say that even though its not a "one click program" anymore with those few titles, the overall time remains about the same due to the fact Recode likes looking at the files better after VobBlanker.

You can also try the new proggy RipIt4Me, it will do this movie. It incorporates the PSL file making ability of PGCEdit imports into DVD Decrypter, rips and then will use FixVTS to fix the bad/blank cells. Used in 1Click mode will then automatically go over to Shrink. Or you can use Recode if that is your choice, I do because I prefer it over Shrink. Here is guide, examples and software.

Okay, this is weird. I tried dvdfab, VOB blanker, then Ingburn w/Flightplan and all I got was a copy that the main menu was corrupted. Finally worked when I used a ddrw instead of DVDR.

Now, before I try it again, is there something you have to set before starting VOB, or the others

I did it effortlessly with DVD Fab, VobBlanker, Shrink, then burn with your favorite program. If you have DVD43, turn it off (as a rule, if you're using anything other than just DVD Shrink, turn off DVD43)!!!

I wasn't impressed with the movie though, I expected alot more after all the hype.

Make sure you installed FixVTS, and try it in the 1click mode instead of the Wizard.

Edit: You can see a log of Ultra Violet done with RipIt4Me and 1Click mode here

Okay, my question now is, do you just run VOB Blanker with it's default settings, or is there something you have to set to get the thing to remove what it needs to so that the copy works?

scq,
W/ VobBlanker you highlight the ifo file and after it finds everything you click on the right hand side "Process All" and then at the bottom click "Process". Then go get a cup of coffee or a beer and wait about 4-5 minutes will it processes all

SUCCESS!!!

After striking out with VOB Blanker, I deleted and freshly installed my copying programs (DVDFab, DVD Shrink, Imgburn) and was still having trouble.

I then tried Ripit4me and instead of using DVD+R, changed to DVD-R and hit the jackpot! I now have a copy that will play on both players in the house (and one of them is old).

The creator of RipIt4Me is keeping it very updated as the last update was July 15th. I'm very happy with the results!!!
