I've been here and done the new stuff see here:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/356677

And you can can too...For Just $39.99! Back up your favorite movie and keep it moving. Put and end to countless coasters and un-needed back-up anguish. Again just $39.99 pays for the best decrypter known to man. Any, Any, That's right people AnyDVD 6.0.1.1!:p Just clowning people but AnyDVD is that damn good. I use it in the backround with just Nero 7 Recode, And burning a DVD has never been so simple, it's up there with eye blinking...Really that SIMPLE!.

kurt12345 - If you don't have AnyDVD, you'll have to rip the disc to your hard drive using DVDFab Decrypter. Here is a guide how to use it:

http://tinyurl.com/rafhs

You may not necessarily need to use VOB Blanker, but if DVDFab Decrypter still fails to work for you, you may have to. I would try just using DVDFab Decrypter first.

I've tried using the latest version on CloneDVD2 combined with the latest version of AnyDVD - 6.0.1.1

I've also tried AnyDVD 6.0.1.1 combined with the latest version of DVD Decrypter - 3.5.4.0

I've also tried AnyDVD 6.0.1.1 combined with the latest version of DVD Shrink - 3.2.0.15

I can assure you that neither of these setups work. Does anyone know of any programs that work for sure?

Do you have the Decrypter I/O tab in settings set to Elby CDIO--Elaborite Bytes? AnyDVD works with Decrypter better that way because it lets them talk to each other better.

Just tried that. It basically fails in Decrypter while I'm ripping it to the hardrive. Even with Elby CDIO--Elaborite Bytes selected.

@wardair

Ultraviolet:
anydvd 6.0.1.1 + clonedvd2 2.8.9.9 + dvd region css free 5.9.7.9 = crisp clean backup in <30mins. Had same readout from AnyDVD as you.

BTW, recognize the kid??? He was the russians son in Running Scared, another awesome flick, worth having.

It ripped everything except the movie this time using

anydvd 6.0.1.1 + clonedvd2 + dvd region css free 5.9.7.9

Is there a setting I need to change in either of the programs?

This method does not work. Check your disc, I believe u may only have the menus and previews on it. I'm trying your suggestion using DVD Shrink instead of CloneDVD2 now.

UPDATE**

Using AnyDVD 6.0.1.1 + DVD Shrink + dvd region css free 5.9.7.9 works! I decided to use these three after using the above method and producind only a backup with menus and previews only.

anydvd 6.0.1.1 + DVD Shrink + dvd region css free 5.9.7.9 does work for sure. I've finally produced a working backup.

with what I said, you are not ripping, but backing-up or copying. Ripping is another story. I thought you just wanted a copy.
With clonedvd2, you just select the clone option and it backs the entire original up. If you select the copy option, it just does the movie. Make sure you check the menu's option in upper right corner if you want a menu (i always do personally)
If you only want to rip the movie to your HDD, right-click on the AnyDVD icon in the right taskbar.

Good to know it can be done. Is there a way to figure out why the same or similar methods didnt work for some people?
