@ZhenYevan - My apologies, I thought it did. However, this tutorial was made for playing trainers from both CD and HDD. You say that when you click on a trainer it goes to a black screen? I have never had this occur before, so I'm going to assume you might be using a different dashboard. So, I need you to tell me what dash your using.

As for getting it to work from HDD, just so long as you use DVD2Xbox and copy the game, it should read it fine. Just make sure that the copied Halo 2 game is located in the /E/Games/ Directory.

I've even checked the files, and all the directory paths in the .ini file are correctly configured. How about this:

Try re-downloading all the files, and take the steps from the beginning to get it working.

If it still doesn't work, just let me know. Then I'll just PM you, and we can exchange Instant Messenger screen names. I'm an IT Tech, so the least I can do for you is connect to your computer and practically mod it myself.

Let me know how it all turns out. I'll be here to help you. Also, if you want, I'm thinking about setting up a service where you can mail me the xbox, I softmod it for you, then send it back. The only problem I am having with this is trust (of course). Just let me know what course of action you want.

Keep us posted on what worked and what didn't just for future reference for others.

P.S. Like I mentioned before, make sure you're using the NTSC version of Halo 2 and not the PAL version.

@ZhenYevan - Deleting that media would have no affect on the game, other than playing campaign. I'm not sure what the problem is really, because it seems as though there have been many reports of this. In fact, I'm checking into it right now myself.

I'll keep you posted if I find anything.

EDIT:

Well, once again, I seem to not have any problems. I have the same setup as you, I cut out the media, the bink, etc. I guess the only suggestion I can give you is to make sure your copy of Halo 2 for your xbox is set up like this (just ignore the "iso" stuff).

Other than that, I will say this: Make sure you do not delete anything in your /E/Cache/ Directory. In fact, I would recommend you play that map normally first, that way it's embed into your Cache folder. After you are able to play it once originally, it should work fine.

I guess, if anything, I could send you a clean copy of that map; just to make sure. Let me know if anything I said helped.

Hey, I set up this trainer and it worked great. I have tried other trainers though and can't get them to work. Is there a system that works every time for installing trainers? Or a tut. that gives a play by play like this one for other trainers?

I noticed on this trainer that I had to place 2 files in 2 different locations. Is that the same for all trainers. Sorry if this is not the place for this question, maybe someone could redirect me if its not?

Thanks

@jman31 - Feel free to ask all of your questions here. I'm glad you liked it! To answer some of your questions, no, most trainers are not like this one, and only contain one file. The file most of them contain is an .etm file, and an .nfo file. The .nfo file is just a text document that explains who the trainer was made by, and what is it, and possibly how to use it. The .etm file is the trainer itself. To open, and read, and .nfo file, simply right-click the file and open it with notepad.

To use other trainers, you just simply need to put the .etm file into the /E/Trainers Directory after you have installed Xored Trainer Launcher using the method explained in this tutorial. After that, be sure to reboot your Xbox, start up Xored (with the game in), select your game, and your trainer, and your options, press 'start' and have fun!

Welcome to the AfterDawn community, and we hope you enjoy the information you will find here!

Hey Man, Nice tutorial.
The camera works just fine for me (after a little trial and error)
I finally realized that I had a controller plugged in the 2nd player jack. And to add something my Halo 2 folder is on /F/Games, while the 'mini' folder and 'trainers' folder is on /E/. so the game files can be on a different drive than the etm file.

Ok now on to my problem. after i copy the screen shot files to the 'RAW' folder i run BatchDeswizzle and get an error. this error:

Any thoughts? I have already tried re downloading the file.
thanks for the help.

@mattheous - Ignore ZhenYevan's answer. I would like to thank you for reminding me of this little error. As I well forgot to mention in my tutorial...To use BatchDeSwizzle, you need Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

You can easily download it here:

Permanent Link - 22.4 MB

@ZhenYevan - While I appreciate you trying to assist me in assisting others, make sure your answer is right before posting it. That problem is a common one, and the answer you provided was not what I would call logical/ethical.

To answer your question, I honestly don't know for sure; but I think if you go into your options (on your xbox dash) and set the TSR (or TRS, I can't remember the stupid letters) to debug mode, then you should have no problem doing this.

Other than that, I don't have a video capture card in my computer (my mom does) and I don't think I can even get one at the moment (because my eMachine has it on the motherboard); so, in all honesty, I cannot help you with this problem. If I had a video capture card on my computer, I probably could. Sorry :-(

@mattheous - Yeah, no problem. .NET Framework is almost a requirement these days will all of the homebrew software.

Yeah, it's no problem. If anybody tells you to do anything really dramatic like that (i.e. reformat your computer) I would recommend that you don't take that advice.

@kappie11 - By the "new" maps I'm assuming you mean the Killtrocity Map Pack? If so, then you may have to manually disable your update (explained in the tutorial), and if you want to play any of your "old" maps, you would have to put them up with your Killtrocity Map Pack as well. I don't think you have to edit the 'Main.map' file to read the maps, so you should be fine there.

If you need to know how to do all this, just let me know.

when i go to xored trainer launcher it brings me to a screen that has a cube thing and a sphere shape floating around then when i hit A it just goes to a screen with xored at the top and thats all. the rest is blue and the only other thing it says is at the bottom

"DVD Tray Status: Title Ready
Launch Type: DVD/Title:"

if i hit A again it goes to a black screen that says

"error loading etm!
C:\Trainers\"

what do i do to fix this

im sure i followed the instructions exactly. i went over them like 19 times and it all looked right to me.

@xchasmx - Are you sure you're using my files that I put up on here? If you are, try re-downloading them. For some reason, Xored is trying to look in your /C/Trainers/ Directory, when really, your trainers should be in /E/Trainers/

If that doesn't fix it, then I guess just put the .etm file in the /C/Trainers/ Directory instead of the /E/Trainers Directory. If it still doesn't work after that, let me know and I'll send you a modified "Xored.ini" file configured to your setup.

@kappie11 - It is said that you CAN'T use the trainer with the Multiplayer Map Pack, but as I'm sure I've said before; I think you may be able to pull the maps off of the CD (or copy the new maps like you normally would to your xbox, then just pull them off of your xbox). After you have the new maps, you should just be able to disable the auto-update and place the new maps in the "maps" folder and then they should work.

Maybe some time when I have more time I'll explain better. Hopefully you can figure out what I mean by what I just said. Let me know.

if you have the disc in the drive that has the map pack on it and halo 2 on the hdd you can just take the maps off the drive and put them in the folder under games/halo2 maps
