Then by enabling HEN-D do u mean pressing on the HEN picture under PHOTO in the XMB???

Waiting ur reply
Well there is no other way to shut down the system then to shut it down lol. And yes i mean enable HEN through the picture. Then go to your memory stick under game and select DEVHOOK 0.51 BETA for 2.71.

You may have missed a part in step 6. And the Devhook Launcher 0.51 beta is not where you pick 1.5. Use the other devhook.

MidnightJ, I wish to express my great gratitude to you for this guide. I emulate the 3.01 on 2.71 but I am asking here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/473705, is -> Select ?Flash Install.? to emulate 3.11 means that we write to "FLASH 0"??? I hope not :)

I am glad it worked for you, and that guide i believe it writes to your flash0 for a second so it will not brick your PSP. Unless something freezes while your installing something that writes to flash0 that takes more then a second then you cannot brick your PSP.

Thx 4 the swift reply...
1- Your guide does not write to Flash "0", right?
AND
2-does these steps too write to Flash "0"?? like the steps in the URL I just given you in msg above???
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Just follow PSPHobby's instructions after you've installed Devhook 0.51 for 2.71. His instructions were...

Download Devhook 0.52 http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/986 and 0.52 update http://dl.qj.net/Devhook-v0.52.0100-PSP/pg/12/fid/12993/catid/114 and extract it.

Now extract Devhook 0.52, open the MS_ROOT folder, copy all folder from dh EXCEPT 271 to YourPSP:/dh/ and fbm folder to PSP, overwrite.

Extract Devhook 0.52 update, open the MS_ROOT folder, copy dh to Your PSP and overwrite.

Now downloaded the Firmware 3.11 EBOOT.rar http://dl.qj.net/PSP-Firmware-3.11-PSP/pg/12/fid/12601/catid/163 and extract it.

Copy the EBOOT.PBP on to your PSP.

Now download DevHook Firmware Installer v0.6f http://dl.qj.net/DevHook-Firmware-Instal...13091/catid/151

Copy 4 folders from /1.5 Eboots/MS_ROOT/PSP/Game to YourPSP:/PSP/GAME

OK Now go game and go to Devhook Firmware Installer. Press Circle. (IT becomes reversed after enabling 1.50)

Now it should come up with a blue screen with white text telling you stuff. Press X to install it.

Under firmware select 3.11. And hit start.

Go to your system settings and it should be 3.11!

Note : The "o" and "X" will change function.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The o and x will be reverted meaning if you normally press x for something in a firmware, it will be o instead. I know it's o for enter and x for cancel in Japan and I think BOOSTER lives in Japan so it might have something to do with that. Anyways, when I emulate firmware 3.11, my x and o don't change function but I don't know why. Well, I know the only thing different I did from PSPHobby's instruction was the Devhook firmware installer. I just got a 3.11 firmware dump and placed it into the dh folder.

Ok my guide writes a very very small amount to flash0 which is NOT enough to harm your PSP in anyway, its just with Devhook, to emulate 3.01 you need a unique devhook file which is written in a very small form to the PSP memory. Really don't worry about nothing will happen to your PSP at all.

It really does not matter what flash it writes too, stuff that writes to any of the flash on your PSP have a small risk of damaging it. But my guide has a 0% chance of anything happening, so you'll be fine.

OK,what about these steps to emulate 3.11.. Please have a look and tel me whether they write to flash and whether they have any chance of bricking I believe they are different from the ones in the URL I sent earlier--------HERE they are-----------------------------------
Download Devhook 0.52 http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/986 and 0.52 update http://dl.qj.net/Devhook-v0.52.0100-PSP/pg/12/fid/12993/catid/114 and extract it.

Nothing there writes to flash0, and why are you so worried? I told you above that there is not enough stuff to write to the flash in this guide and the 3.11 emulation guide to damage your PSP in anyway.

Install Devhook 0.51 for 2.71 by following MidnightJ's instructions. After you've done that, download Devhook 0.52 from http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/986 and the Devhook 0.52 update from http://dl.qj.net/Devhook-v0.52.0100-PSP/...2993/catid/114. Extract Devhook 0.52 download and open MS_ROOT folder, place all files from dh folder except 271 folder into your dh folder and find the fbm folder in MS_ROOT and replace it with yours. Extract Devhook 0.52 update, open MS_ROOT and replace dh folder with yours. Now instead of doing the rest of the things PSPHobby did, do this instead. (Just makes things easier). Extract the zip from http://www.sendspace.com/file/k7eimk. You'll find a folder called 311. Place the 311 folder in your dh folder and overwrite. Then load up Devhook 0.51, select 3.11 firmware then press Start Devhook. You should be emulating 3.11.

My PSP Firmware History: 2.60 had to return the PSP because it had a dead pixel > new PSP had firmware 2.71 > 1.5 > 3.52 M33 > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33 > 3.71 M33 with 1.50 kernel

Do you have a UMD in your PSP when you select your firmware? That could very well be your problem. I think if it is, then i will add it to the guide.

The reason why a UMD in the PSP would affect anything is because DEVHOOK would think you are trying to load a downloaded PSP game which would be either a .CSO or .ISO. So try taking the UMD out and if the problem continues then i recommend starting from step 1.

When you play most downloaded games it requires a UMD game in your PSP to function as though it was the game. The system just needs the disk spinning.

Unfortunatly you cannot play online when you use Devhook to load downloaded games. You must use a custom firmware or the orignal UMD game. I can help you downgrade, then upgrade to 3.03 OE-C if you like. It really is very safe now. Especially since there are installers that do everything for you.

What kind of UMD is it? It has to be a game UMD, not a movie UMD. MidnightJ, maybe you should clarify that in your guide because I remeber a while ago in another thread, a person went crazy because he couldn't get a cso to work. He's like, "why isn't it working!? I did everything correct and I have a UMD in my PSP. What am I doing wrong!?" Until somebody asked him, is it a game UMD. And he said no, it's a movie UMD of Spider-man. So later, he went and got a game UMD and it worked.

DEAR BrendanL,
1- Is there any difference in the final outcome between ur way below and PSPHOBBY's way below urs????

2- I followed PSPHOBBY's way I now emulate 3.11 OK. But I have a Corrupted Data icon under Game in XMB is there anyway to remove this???

BrendanL WAY::

-----------------
-----------------
PSPHOBBY WAY::

I see that it is possible to emulate 3.11 on 2.71, but i thought i would make a guide which is fairly easy to follow, to emulate 3.01 on your 2.71 PSP.

Please read the FAQ at the bottem before making posts, chances are it will be one of your questions.

FOLLOW THESE EXACTLY

1. First go here http://www.dark-alex.org/ and download under "Homebrew Enabler" And download Rev D + devhook

2. Extract all of the contents of this folder the hend.rar one. Make sure you have WinRAR for this.

3. Copy everything from the MS_ROOT folder to your PSP.

4. OK, now download under Homebrew Enabler "Devhook Launcer Port Ver 0.2."

5. Now copy everything from the MS_ROOT from it, onto your PSP. Ask for overwrite etc Yes to all.

6. Okay here comes the kind of confusing part. Download this http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/879 extract it, and open the dh folder and copy all of the files from the 150 folder onto the 150 folder inside of your dh folder on your PSP. So to simple it out;

i) Download the file from PSP hacks
ii) Extract all of its contents
iii) Open the dh folder in the MS_ROOT of the extract folder
iiii) Open the 150 folder and copy the files from the 150 folder, onto the X:Your PSP/dh/150.

7. OK now download this and extract it http://dl.qj.net/Devhook-0.51-launcher-f...11611/catid/151

8. Now extract it, open the MS_ROOT folder and copy everything to your PSP, overwrite etc.

9. Now downloaded the 3.01 EBOOT.PBP http://dl.qj.net/FW-3.01-update-PSP/pg/12/fid/11396/catid/163 and make sure you rename it EBOOT.PBP!

10. Copy the EBOOT.PBP on to your PSP.

11. Now download this http://dl.qj.net/3.01-DevHook-Firmware-I...11615/catid/151

Open the folder and copy the 2 folders in to X:Your PSP/PSP/GAME

12. Ok you are now setup for all of this.

13. Ok connect your PSP to your AC Adapter incase your low on battery life, ( I recommend hooking it up to it anyway).

14. Turn on your PSP, go to Photo and go to HEND

15. Now it should come up with a Blue Screen then a Green Screen! If it comes up with Red Screen that means it was not sucessful DON'T WORRY THIS IS NORMAL just turn your PSP off and try again. IF it turns Blue Then Green, it was sucessful! It should restart your PSP.

16. NOW go to your System Settings and see if it says 2.71 HEN-D. IF it does you did everything right.

17. OK now go to Game on your PSP and go Memory stick and press X. Now you should see many files. Go to DEVHOOK 0.4X launcher for 2.71. It should come up with a menu saying Start,UMD Select,Firmware,CPU_CLock etc.

18. Select Firmware and select 1.50.

19. Select Start.

20. It should load saying game could not be started (error code) DON'T WORRY THIS IS NORMAL.

21. Go to your System Settings. Guess what 1.50!

22. OK Now go game and go to 3.01 DH FW Installer. Press Circle. (IT becomes reversed after enabling 1.50)

23. Now it should come up with a black screen with white text telling you stuff. Press X to install it.

24. OK after its done, make sure its completly DONE. It says its done early on. DON'T LET THIS FOOL YOU WAIT TIL IT IS COMPLETLY DONE AND EXITS AFTER IT GIVES THE 10 SECOND COUNTDOWN.

25. It will now exit.

26. OK restart your PSP, enable HEN-D in Picture/Photo and go to, UNDER GAME, DEVHOOK 0.51 BETA for 2.71.

27. Under firmware select 3.01. And hit start.

28. Go to your system settings and it should be 3.01!

///FAQ\\\
Q: Will this brick my PSP?
A: NO not even a chance as it all runs off of your memory stick.

Q: When the screen turns blue then green, do i have to do this each time?
A: NO once it turns green, each time you still have to load it, but it will only turn BLUE. Green just means it was installed sucessfully and is only required ONCE!

Q: Can i keep HEN-D enabled forever?
A: You can keep it on sleep, but each time you fully turn off your PSP, your reset to 2.71 and you have to load it though the PHOTO.

Q: What exactly are the advantages of this?
A: Well its great for loading ISO and CSO games off your memory stick which require higher then 2.71. Since a lot of the newer games require higher then 2.71!

Q: Will this work on my TA-082 PSP?
A: Yes! This is what i did it on and it worked for me 100%

Q: What about the other motherboards?
A: I have no idea since i did this on TA-082.

Q:How do i get back to my orignal 2.71 firmware?
A: Just fully turn off your PSP

Q: Do i need a background to load HEN-D?
A: You don't need one, but the chances of your system freezing will pretty much never happen if you have your background.

REMINDERS

1. To load ISO/CSO games simply enable HEN-D, load DEVHOOK 0.51 BETA for 2.71, select 3.01 as your firmware, select file emulation and select your CSO/ISO you want to load. Hit Start. Now you will be brought to the PSP HOME with the game, hit Circle to start.

2. MAKE sure there is no UMD in your drive when loading HEN-D, or Devhook, only put the UMD (ANYUMD) in the drive while you are in the Devhook Menu. IT IS REQUIRED TO PLAY ISO/CSO games.

3. YOU will have better luck loading HEN-D when you have your own background image, instead of the XMB wave thing. It will usually work everytime with a background image.

Have Fun! Midnight.
