Hey.
I have reformatted my hard drive again after installing linux and my system information is still missing a considerable amount of space..
I have a 60 gig system I understand I should have 55 gig but its saying I only have 47 gig of space. The perfect amount that linux took when I partitioned my hard drive.
How can I get rid of this burden on my PS3!!! I would like to have my brand new sony back?
Can you please help.

oh and Alitica...
I found that when the "No VRS error" came up on my non HDTV I simply just tabbed through when it came to the kboot and it will bring up some 4 different command prompts. I went to installtext. then it runs you through.
hope that helps.

Hi all,
I hope someone can help here. I've followed the tutorial (sort of) and I'm now stuck. I've got to the point where I boot the dvd and it doesnt seem to do anything. it comes up with the following
/dev/sr0:/ppc/ppc64/vmlinux-ps3:not found
Does anyone now what I could have done and how to rectify this, or just go back to the ps3 screen??
Thanks

actually, I just tryed to redo it but still had the same probs. I did notice one thing though, when installing the bootloaders my ps3 scans and only finds otheros.bld and not the otheros.self file. I have them both stored in the correct folders together. cheers

Hey all!
Im currently installing YDL using this tutorial, and its working great. This may sound like a stupid question, but once YDL is installed on my PS3, how do i access my regular gameos so i can play games as normal?
Thanks

Yeah i think its done thru the format utility.
BTW i have completed the YDL install on my australian spec 60gb PS3. Some of the steps were a little different, but most were the same, but all is well now.
FYI, i used the following for my install..
* yellowdog-5.0.1-phoenix-20070501-PS3 was the ISO I used, it had the built in wi-fi fixes. It was burnt on a Verbatim DVD-RW at 4x
* HP USB basic keyboard and optical mouse

On the YDL desktop, just click anywhere and select run command, then type in boot-game-os :)

well I did try this out and after a 16 hour download, I put in the boot loader and the dvd and now the screen is black.
I did get about 30 sec of text then its told me it was doing some kind of disk clean up and and the screen is now dead and I am waiting to see what it does next.
May leave it over night before trying to remove it.
Does this yellow dog program work on UK models of the ps3?
what is the best way of removing the bootloader program and restoring it to the way it was?

After I install this I will still have the regular XMB/PS3 OS to my understanding, so if this automatically puts you on Linux how do you get to the XMB from there? Sorry, im new to this stuff. Also, Do i have to have a mouse, or can i just use my controller, and a keyboard?
