No luck. The subs may only be displayed with Showtime or Nero Home.

Any suggestions or alrtenatives are welcome.

At the moment DVD to PS3 converter is working fine. But, it takes almost a day to recode a movie.

Ok. I was having some problems with my pc after my vista upgrade so I went back to xp with a fresh install. After the install I finally got an unknown device in wmp11. But for some reason my ps3 is saying Im at nat 3 and upnp is unavailable but for the kicker its enabled on my router. Ive never had this problem and if someone could give me a fix that would be great Im almost positive it would work once I get back to nat 2 and get upnp available again

I can't get WMP 11 to recognize my PS3. When I go to the Configure Sharing button, the unknown device (the PS3) never appears so I can't allow it, and consequently, my search for media servers always comes up empty. That media sharing box just remains a vast, endless, white wasteland of no devices to share with. Somebody please help me figure this thing out, it is driving me insane.

My brother just said I should turn off my firewall. He said that did the trick for him. But one can't keep the firewall down indefinitely, hmm?. Maybe after the PS3 is recognized and then allowed for media sharing, the firewall can be turned back on? This whole thing makes me want to chuck my linksys router and game adapter in the dumpster and buy a spool of ethernet cable. Life seems simpler when it is hard-wired.

Yes, firewall can be a big problem when setting up this kind of thing (is infact the main reason it took me a while to get it going). disabling it completely first to test to see if thats the problem is a good idea, if with it disabled Media Sharing works then you have just isolated the problem and can start working on fixing it. By unblocking various programs and connections, then it can be re-enabled.

Can I get a little help configuring my router since I believe thats the problem. I plugged my ps3 straight into my ps3 and every media server app I have works but when I plug everything back into the router nothing. Nero also recognized my ps3 but now that everything is hooked into the router it says my ps3 is offline in the device tab in media home

Saying all along that it was my router I have finally confirmed my thoughts. My cousin gave me his belkin wireless router and after I configured it boom theres my media server. Everything works flawlessly now. Since may I've been trying to get this to work. Thanks to everyone who aided me over these last few months.

ooZEROoo- Can I ask what kind of router were you using before when nothing was working and what model of Belkin router is working flawlessly for you now?

The router I'm using now is a cheap belkin wireless g my cousin picked up at walmart for like 40 dollars and the router I used before was a linksys wired befsr41. But I noticed something interesting when I configured the new router I looked at my network settings on my ps3 and my dns was my routers IP address. Try this set all of your ps3 settings manually. When it comes up to dns type in the router ip as primary and leave secondary as all zeros. I havent tried it on my old router to see if that was my problem but thats what my ps3 is telling me thats how mine is set.

I got a possibly stupid question here. If I got rid of my wireless router and got an internet switch instead (my boss just hooked me up with a 100 foot spool of ethernet cable). Would I still be able to use WMP 11 as a media server to my PS3 using a wired network via internet switch?

I'm not sure. I'm not familiar with a switch. Did you try my fix a couple of posts back.

Or would I need a wired router? I'll be honest and admit I'm not quite sure what the distinguishing features are between the two (routers and swiches).

If you dont mind doing a wired connection then I would suggest you buy a second network adapter for your PC, have your internet on one and the PS3 on the other. Then just bridge the connections and your PS3 will have internet and Media Servers should show up.

Plugged in my old router and tryed the fix that I posted a few posts back and it did work try that. Make your primary dns the same number as the routers ip and it should work. I just now got to enjoy this feature and as I write this Im listening to music thats being streamed to my ps3. Going to watch transformers later to see how well tversity transcodes. The only thing that I got from changing routers is wireless. I can stream to my ps3 no matter what room it's in.

ooZEROoo's DNS fix didn't work. Turning off Windows Firewall didn't do anything either. I give up, I'm gonna hard wire the sucker and see if that makes things any better. Couldn't be any worse.

for those of you still having problems have you tried puttin the ps3 in a DMZ.

To do this you will need a static ip first so once you set that up open your linksys setup page (192.168.2.1 in your web browser) enter your user name and password, if you haven't changed it then leave the user name blank and put "admin" as the password.

Click on the orange Advanced tab, then on the DMZ host tab. put the last digits of your ip address in the box and click apply. your PS3 IP will be under Network settings->Settings And connection Status on the XMB.

Putting the ps3 in a DMZ will essentially place it outside of your NAT. That means the PS3 is not protected by the router or Firewall but the ps3 cant get virus' anyway so your fine.

Hope this helps anyone.

and did you set up the DNS for both your computer and ps3 or just your ps3. Linksys was my problem as well so I changed routers. We will see if we can't get you going on the right direction.
