Never tried it maybe in re-Author mode but you might need a better editing program. Again, I don't know for sure -

doom9 gives a good detailed guide to this software.
I also have DVDxcopy along with DVDXcopy Express.
Too date I have backed up 5 movies with dvdshrink3.1.
I use Prassi to burn the VIDEO_TS folder and AUDIO_TS
folders.Made perfect quality backup (I was impressed)
beings it was a free program!

DVDXcopy Express will not copy a PBS documentary or a "Cirque du Soliel: Veraki" disc I have. Will Shrink generally copy these kind of discs?
Thank you.

I started this thread with THE question.
I have now used thr latest version of Shrink.
I should have saved the $150.00 I paid for DVDXcopy Platinum (I'm still waiting for my $30 rebate). Shrink does everything I want in copying a DVD and it does some important things that Xcopy will not do.
Shrink will copy Cirque Du Soleil, Xcopy will not.

Does anyone know of the address of the author of DVD Shrink???? If one of you do, I would like to recommend that we all chip in a buck or 2 just so this guy could have some either coffee, pop or even beer money while he is working on the next version. What say guys????? I'll strap a TwoNee to a envelope if I can get this guys address. This prg is worth many times more than that.So like come on guys like, LET'S DO IT!!!

Well Dave and Mr. askew,
Sorry to tell you this but recently Mr. Shrink got offered a real job working for, are you guys ready ??
Our favorite Burner people, Nero.
Yep that's right Nero. They hired him and his Shrink to come work for them - you should see Nero's Recode - it is our free friend, DVDShrink but with Nero's name, it costs $$$$.
I don't know who is doing Shrink's updates now but, who cares, we have Shrink for Free - Ain't life Grand :-))

That's great to hear Pete, so I thought I'd go to his web site & see if he made a new version, & the web site is down. Hopefully he didn't make a deal with Nero & his prg. But the mirror download sites are still available. I suggest all get the latest 3.14 I haven't installed it as of yet & hope it not beta.

Wwwoooaaahh there ole' Paint, we have to call it as we sees it - I'm not saying EXACTLY like our Shrink but you don't have to touch a guide to work it, it's 95% to 98% the same. My opinion ? It's the same duck, different color -
The base program works (and looks), edits like our own friendly Shrink - Nero has added a bell, a whistle, some different colored graphics and some salad dressing but you really have to see the similarity for yourself :0
also FYI, he had been working for them PRIOR to the release of Shrink 3.1.3 and 3.1.4 nbeta0 - to tell the truth I have no ides who's doing the polishing on our "Baby".

I Like Both programs but I always burn with Nero, I also like ripping with DVD Decrypter, and using IFOEdit. I Use DVD X Copy Xpress to compress and Keep all features but I don't follow through with the burning process I copy the files from there temp folder to a folder I made and then use IFOEdit to take the back up thing off the movie and then I burn with Nero.

Shadca,
The answer to your question is to burn your VIDEO_TS folder with Nero in the classic mode. The next question is, why are you messing with your VIDEO_TS folder if you have an up-to-date Shrink ??
It would be easier to get you start with the new stuff.
My suggestion, when you are having trouble with the ?Magic Two?, DVDShrink and Nero, make sure you?re using top grade media, uninstall Nero and Shrink, reboot, reinstall Shrink first, then Nero, reboot and follow ?Uncle Pete?s? Guide -
Here is DVDShrink 3.1.4 nbeta0 -
Shrink download -
http://www.softpedia.com/public/scripts/downloadhero/3-7-52/
And Here is my guide :-) -->
When using DVDShrink ver. 3.1.4 nbeta0
Before I start, I create a folder with my movie?s name somewhere on my HD where I can find it later (i.e. C:/All DVD Work/Pirates of the Caribbean).
When using DVDShrink, after inserting your DVD, open Shrink, click ?Open Disk?. Then, ?Select DVD Drive? and click ?OK?. After Shrink has opened your disc, anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 ½ minutes you?ll see the size of the disc at the bar at the top of the page. If you have a Green bar with a little Gray at the top of the page, go to the next paragraph:-) If you see some ?Red?, simply check off those files you don?t want, I.E. Outer Mongolian or Eastern Yak Basin language, or extra audio files ? I keep ACS 2ch or ACS 5.1, that will give you stereo, most of the rest you can trash. Only do that if you need to lose some stuff to make it fit. You can also gain more room by clicking ?Custom Ratio? and increasing the compression.
Personally, I compress until I see about 1/8 of an inch of Gray at the end of my Green bar - that way I?m not writing to the very edge of my DVD disc. - Remember, more compression, a tiny bit less on the picture quality ? when I say ?less quality? I?m speaking of theoretically less, nothing you can really see with the naked eye for the most part. Let?s make sure that the box which says ?Full Disk? is depressed (No need to cheer it up, it likes being depressed :-). When you are ready to go, - -> click ?Backup?. When the Backup box opens, under ?Target Device? make sure your DVD Burner is listed in the window. Under ?Target folder?, make sure the folder you made at the beginning with the movie?s name is there (that way you can always go back and burn another copy in the future). Now click ?OK?.
Last step: STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER ! Do not fold, spindle, mutilate, molest nor fondle the keyboard. GO AWAY ! Ms. Computer will let you know when she is finished, to approach her before then may be a hazard to your health -
Really, let it alone, go call your Mom, she misses you and would love to hear from you - your backup will be ready shortly, honest :-)
Enjoy your backup,
?P?

Shadca,
Here ya go -
Before I start, I create a folder with my movie?s name somewhere on my HD where I can find it later (i.e. C:/All CD Work/Pirates of the Caribbean).
How to burn using Nero 6.0.
Step by Step ?
Do not use Nero Wizard.
When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the ?New Compilation? window. Directly under the title ?New Compilation? is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose DVD. Directly under that click on the DVD Video Icon. Then click ?New? in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen.
You now are in the DVD Video window. In the left screen, click VIDEO_TS. In the File Browser screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the DVDShrink folder holding your work and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the ?Shift? key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. Click and (holding the left mouse button down) drag the entire column of files to the open screen, second from the left.
Now click the icon on the task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click ?Burn? and Baby, Burn !
Guess what my Friend ??
Go watch some TV, call your mother (It?s been awhile since she?s heard from you, don?t ya know?) You are done !!!
Keep all fingers and toes away from Mr. Computer. Never mess with the lady when she?s working ? it would be a health thing, you understand -
Go and have your coffee, when Nero is done she will let you know ;-))
Enjoy, ?P?
