Anybody else having problems reading the 10000BC dvd using dvdfab hd decrypter version 5? It just stalls at the opening source dialog with the green bar running across looking for the media.

I know the disc and drive are fine because Shrink and RipIt4Me open it but unfortunately generate errors.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you tried changing your PathPlayer settings?

@cull0001

You got 1 program that won't open disc and two others that are throwing errors. Did it ever occur to you, that it's not the programs but the DISC. Sounds like a bad press or dirty or scratched disc to me; or worse the reading drive could be failing. Odds are that 3 programs don't work-then it's not the programs.

Get a new disc

ya it turns out that it is the drive not the media. As soon as i put the DVD into my DVD burner drive it worked fine, but its strange that other media are read by my standard DVD drive.

Anyways, thanks to all for your help.

A little help here. Not sure why I'm getting this "Reading/Writing Error Control" on DVDFAB 5.0.3. I've tried everything on this thread. Anyone???

The DVD is new so it is not the disc. Sometimes I get the message at 20% other times I get it around 80%. I ran it on WinXP & Vista. Any ideas???

That is not true. You may have a bad press. This is not uncommon.
Try giving both the disc and the laser lens a good cleaning.

@Dialysis

you beat me to it! He's right RAMEB It may be new but defective and it's been out for 5 days, so it could have big dirty fingerprints on the disc.

Both resident pros are right on here Rameb.

Bad presses are more commonplace these days. I've had several this year already. All but one of them (We Own the Night if you're curious) would play fine but would not rip.

It very well could be the disc.

I had success ripping 10,000 BC with ripit4me...you must use the wizard mode, do not use one click. The wizard mode will error for about 5min then it will load the movie, I suggest to burn only the movie and menu option. Ripit4me will then promt you through 4 steps to burn the movie, follow each command prompt through step four. Step four will load to DVD decrypter, at this point make sure you are around to cycle the cd tray so it can replace the bad cells with dummy cells....it will do this several times. Once it it 99% complete it will error out click on the abort option and then ripit4me will then prompt you to clean the files, click the clean optiona and it will go over the files you just decrypted it will take a while but once clean you can open with DVDshrink and burn a final copy........sounds like a lot but just follow the prompts. :)
