Okay, never mind the previous message. That is fixed. I have the MPT programs downloaded and installed however it never asks me to configure my phone. Also, when I downloaded the P2K and USB drivers there was nothing to install. No exe files.

Okay four hours of work and I am going to summarize it so you can do it in 10.
DO NOT PLUG YOUR PHONE INTO THE COMPUTER UNTIL YOU DOWNLOAD AND INSTAL EVERYTHING
1. Get a cable that has a USB port at one end and a mini USB at the other. I went to Best Buy computer department (not the cell phone department...they were idiots) and showed them my phone. I told them that I needed a cord to fit it and to hook up to my computer. It was $25 and is the "Geek" brand that they sell.
2. Download the software from here: http://www.free.cz/motorola/ Click on mmpt_1.23c_EN.zip 09-Jul-2004 22:38 18.1M Download, unzip and install. I got an error message at the end of this that said something about getbook links something. DO NOT CLICK OK. Simply click control alt delete and end the program. It will not affect how the program works.
3. Download the update software from here: http://www.free.cz/motorola/ Click on mobilePhoneTools_2.2..> 17-May-2004 21:05 21.0M Download, unzip and unstall. it will give you a security warning. Click go ahead and install. My computer didn't crash and all is well.
4. Go to http://bongowireless.com/file_download.php and click on a P2K driver, either 53 or 18 depending on which version of Windows you have. Unzip the files. There is nothing to install.
5. Go to http://bongowireless.com/file_download.php and click on 77 the drivers. Unzip the files. There is nothing to install.
6. Reboot your computer.
7. Once it's rebooted hook up your phone on the small end of the cord and plug it into the USB port on your computer. Your computer should detect new hardware and will find the driver.
8. Click on mobile phone tools. If you did everything correctly it should pop up quickly. You should see a mini phone thing on your screen. To get pictures from your phone to your computer, click on the multimedia link.
This is about as easy as I can make it. I have no idea how to fix any problems other than the ones that I stumbled upon though. Sorry.
Hope this helps someone out!

I've been searching for the correct programs to download ringtones to my phone and shortening them (MP3 songs). I have downloaded program after program and still haven't gotten any of them to work correctly. I would really appreciate it if someone who has the program will share it will all that need it. Hopefully someone could help me out and list all of the correct programs that work for them. Please only list them if they have worked correctly for you. I am very interested in putting music ringtones on my V220. thanks everyone!

This is in response to sunny4328 tutorial above...
I did everything as noted, but am still not quite sure where to unzip everything. You say to unzip them, but not where to. The only one that's semi-apparent was "USBMOT2000.inf" but that's cause there's already a copy of that.
Everything else seems to be going smoothly though...

I just unzipped it to the folder that my computer prompted it to. Probably called "unzipped" somewhere in your C drive or in your program files.

Hey all . . .
I downloaded several different versions of the software . . . no problem installing and my V220 is recognized and all that. THe phone book works BUT when I load the MultiMedia Center, my phone goes off-line and the software will not reconize it. WHen I exit the MMC, I have to re-initialize the phone-software connection. Anyboy got any ideas? I was figuing on going ahead and buying the most up-to-date version of mobile phone tools, but I'd like to solve this, first!
TIA!

I had a similar situation... The MMS just STOPPED working and wouldn't do crap. I uninstalled the drivers and Mobile Phone Tools and started all over, and that helped. Doing that can be found in this thread:

I am beginning to wonder if these V220/phone tools issues are operating system relevant. In other words; I run Win XP and once I installed everything I earlier posted on the last page here (page 29)
I have had no probs. It works everytime I hookup my V220 and drag over a new ringtone or image.
Other ppl here are saying it works the 1st time then not again and having other issues. I would like to know what OS everyone is using.
Stacie, you still cant get yours to work even with mine and other ppl's exact directions (mine on page 29 here) so what operating system do you have?
Other ppl here that are still having problems getting the phone to work; what OS are you running?

lkche148,
I may know what the problem is. What size is the ringtone you are trying to transfer over and what bitrate is it?
When I made the bitrate to large or the file size of the mp3 to large I never got an error message. It just had an eternal hourglass then it all disapeared.
THE bitrate CANNOT be over 128 (40-64 is highly suggested) and the size of the mp3 should not NOT be over 200k. Refer to my detailed post on page 29 on how to cut an existing mp3 into suitable size and also how to rip a song from a cd to an mp3.
Good luck and let me know if this was the problem.
~Kers

Hi,
I have been using MPT for a while now. I firstly, installed the software on to my desktop PC and after a few trys, i managed to get it working perfectly.
Then i tried to save the programme onto another computer via a wireless network but it wouldn't work properly so i uninstalled it and then tried to download the whole thing again for fresh. So i tried a variety of suggestions but half of these links no longer work and the stuff that i have managed to download won't install right.
Further up the thread it recommends to download the first version but then update it without starting it up. Then later some one else says to start it up after so, i getting a bit confused!
Anyway, i tried to install the 1st version and it says something about an internal failure. So, now i have all the stuff this thread says i need but i can't install any of it cos the 1st one won't.
So, does anyone have a suggestion as to what i do now?
Why won't it install properly. I unzipped the file and extracted the files with WinRAR.
Is there somewhere else that i can try downloading this software from?
The annoying thing is my other one works perfectly, like i said and it was no where near as hard as this the last time.
All help much appreciated.

I'm not sure about your model of phone but try this. Read the post from 'Sunny 4328' from 24th May. It gives you step by step instructions, and some very helpful links to the software websites.
I tried it last night and got mine working exectly how i wanted, after 2 days of trying.
Try it, it might work. You also need to find out if your model is compatible with the software.

Hey Queso,
I'm not actually sure. I will try and find out for you, should be working right now, but stuff it!
Will get back to you.
Ps which OS do you use and do you have SP2. This seems to cause a whole multitude of problems.

I had the problem of the MultiMediaCenter 'killing' the phone connection and then being unable to transfer anything to the phone. Well, indesperation, I selected the Master Reset (under Settings:Initial Setup) on my phone. It worked. After doing so I was able to transfer images and ringtones to the phone.
Hope this helps someone.

Right just been having a look on the net and it seems that the Moto c650 IS compatible, for sure.
Are you sure you have all the right downloads and files? You will also need the P2k Drivers WinXP. You will find all the appropriate links in this thread.
This is the method I used to install my mPT for my V220, but as far as i know the files you need to install, are same for every make and model.
1. Make sure all the previously installed versions of MPT are deleted. Ensure you do this from the Control Panel in the Start Menu. Then, Add/Remove Programs and scroll down to mobile Phone Tools and click on remove. Also make sure that you DON"T plug the phone in with the USB cable until you have installed the programme fully.
2. Go to http://www.free.cz/motorola/ Click on mmpt_1.23c_EN.zip, the one from 9 July. Install by using an archive program to extract the files and then click on the Install/Setup icon in that folder. When it is almost installed, an error message may pop up saying something about 'getbooks'. DO NOT click OK, just CTRL+ALT+DEL and end the task. This will stop it from uninstalling.
3. Go back to the same link and download mobilePhoneTools_2.2..> from 17 May. Extract and click on the update icon you have just unzipped.
4. There are other updates you can get. But first, get it installed properly, and the programme can search for updates for itself. Next, you need to download the P2K drivers.
Go to http://bongowireless.com/file_download.php and click on the P2k_Driver_WinXP or the one for 95/2000, if appropriate. You have to unzip them but there isn't anything that you have to install.
5. Restart your computer, when it is back up and running, plug the phone into the computer. It should automatically detect the new hardware and the drivers.
6. Once it has done that, click on the icon for MobilePhone Tools, which should be a picture of a phone with blue rings behind it. A phone will appear on your screen and the icons on the right of it are your links.
7. You will want to back-up your data from your mobile on your PC before you do any synchronising. The option to do this is in the main menu under organiser, Mobile Phone, Back-up/Restore. You can choose where to save your backed up phone data, if you choose.
8. If you decide to update your version, you can do it through the Live Update option in the main menu.
If i were you, i would delete everything you have already downloaded and start from scratch. It may be that they wreren't downloaded properly or something.
Let us know how you get on.
Good Luck!
