i know this forum is for dvd shrink and not easy dvd shrink, but i was wondering if you guys who use easy dvd shrink could provide me some help. There seems to be something wrong with the program, even when i set the target size to .20 gigs it still comes out to be a dvd 9 size.
Can anyone help, the reason i want to stick with easy dvd shrink is because it says there is no noticable diff. in quality? is this true?
btw ive gotten easy dvd shrink to work properly before, but dunno why it doest work now.
thanks

JesusC ,
I do not use the program but anytime you compress a movie you will lose some quality although you might not be able to see it w/ the naked eye

What the hell is easy DVD Shrink? Am I missing something? Anyway, regardless of what program you use, even with the incomparable Rebuilder, you will always have a loss of quality if you compress. Yes, certain programs will enable better quality (like Rebuilder) compression than others (say, Shrink) but still, there will always be a degradation.

Mr_Pink,
Below is the proggy as I had to look it up. I would not use it as it is $39.95 and DVD-Rebuilder is cheaper and better quality but that is another story.

JesusC:
The difference in quality is probably due to the amount of compression you are using and the algorithm that company uses for the compression

JesusC,
Have you tried DVD Shrink? Try it and you can compare as you are the judge of the final copy. You can use RW disks to try it out. If you like Easy DVDShrink then use it as I could not tell from your statement if Easy DVD Shrink is good or not.

@JesusC
You can also check off 'deep analysis' and 'high quality error compression' under quality settings after you click back up. It will take longer but if using compression in will immprove the video quality.
Alos make sure you are using quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and not burning at max speed.

thanks for all the help everone.
just to make sure, what easy dvd shrink says about no noticiable quality is not true, and that with all shrinks we will see a diff. in quality.
As seen here it says no loss of content or quality.

yes i would prefer to use easy dvd shrink, but i cannot because there seems to be something wrong wiht the program, and it wont compress, so i had to look for another program. This is when i stumbled onto dvd shrink, but i noticed that the quality was not nearly as good.
Can someone who has both programs confirm or deny what i have said
thanks for all the help guys

At the site it states:
"The shrinking engine can fit any DVD video (up to 9.4GB) on to your DVD disc (4.7GB/Single Layer or 8.5GB/Dual Layer) with no loss of content or quality.
It preserves all existing DVD contents including original menus, trailers, subtitles, and etc."
No loss of content or quality, NO WAY. The only way 9.4GB of data will fit onto a sinlge layer DVD is if some sort of compression is applied, and anytime compression is applied, video quality will suffer to some degree. To say "with no loss of content or quality", is simply false.

JesusC ,
It sounds like the lead-in or the Lead-out( finalizing ) is not being done correctly. Lets make sure the problem is not w/ the burner. Go to the site below and follow that guide ( it is using all freeware-so no cost to you) and copy the DVD following those directions. If it copies then the problem is the program and maybe you should re-install the program after you uninstall it and then re-boot the computer.

JesusC,
An iso file is an exact image of the info and a VOB file is changed a little by the program that burns the VOB to the Dvd.

You take the iso image that is on your HD. Since I have not this in a while I try this from Memory. You are going to need Daemon Tool. After d/l of Daemon Tools you will right click on the icon that is in the toolbar. Select Virtual dvd-rom> device0 ( that is the virtual drive)Mount the image and now you select your iso file. Start the player and it should recog the disk in the virtual drive and play it
Daemon Tools- http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php
You might also see if they have a guide on the site as I stated I have not used the proggy in a long while as the gamers mostly use it and I do not play the games

JesusC,
If you can view the movie on the computer but you can not view the movie on the Standalone players that is usually caused by the DVD player not recog the disk MID Code. What is the blank media you are using. It might also be how you are burning the DVD when you use Nero. To do a movie in Nero you use Recode unless you know exactly how to slide the files over doing a drag to disc. Also did you try the 3 programs w/ the guide I suggested as if done properly w/ the correct blank media will not fail.
Do any of the burned disks work on anyboby else's DVD Player?
Are you trying to burn in .iso or in file mode?
