boozer,
a little but not like I should yet. I'm still learning as well and haven't taken the time to figure out ALL the little voltage and dram tweaks on these new mobos. I have played with the PL (performance level) and know the lower you can get it, the better. I don't know if this is a common feature on X38, X48 mobos or available only on high end asus mobos. I do know the PL makes a big difference in performance, similiar to a fairly big jump in cpu freq, from what I've read.
at the moment I'm running at stock. I was trying to find the best bios for my Q9450 and haven't done anything in the bios except set the dram freq and voltage and adjust my fan speeds.
I've been busy negotiating for a new ride and haven't had time to mess with me pc.

Well it doesn't matter anyway. Only reason I'm running at 3Ghz is because Sam wanted too run benchmarks. Otherwise I don't feel like OCing on this cooler, because one of the screws attaching it to the board are broken.

boozer I don't think it matters. ;) you guys can get on mIRC, MSN chat, or whatever and say those things to your hearts content. Remember it's still a tech site and other people reading the comments DON'T know what ethnic background we are and it doesn't matter anyway. ;)
My take on things at least. :)

Alright, well he will be back soon anyway.
Back on topic, have you OCed your Q6600? More importantly, do you play FEAR?

NO never played FEAR. ;) I guess I could put the Q6600 in my "other" rig and see how it performs. lol. I still don't have a mobo for it yet and I just bought a "cheapy" cpu from Sammy. lol. I wanted to go Dual Core on both my AMD rigs and he obliged by selling me his X2 4200... :)
I won't have a lot of time until September or so to really mess with the computers. It's been a hot summer and the conditions are less than favorable when trying to get things done. ;P

Yeah, FEAR Combat's a good laugh for a free game. Pretty scalable too, so you don't need a monster GPU to run it.
Gm: Will sort out the CPU and its packaging tomorrow, once PayPal work on my bank transfer.

well firstly I did the pin mod (400 mhz --> 533 mhz), the usual Dothan mod...
and then I used clockgen
it took about 15 mins to do both, since there is a cover to access the CPU and clockgen was a breeze: download, unzip, run, set, close! and I was done!
if you have a Dothan CPU (i.e. Pentium M 90nm or Celeron M 90nm), i can give you a pic of the pin mod or just google it
