I too am having problems using AnyDVD with DVDshrink. I am using a Dell desktop running Windows XP. My burner is a Sony DVD external drive. I am using sony +R media. I have used this media many times with success on my stand alone player which is a Toshiba. I started using AnyDVD and dvdclone both as trial periods. This produced many back-ups with no problems. However, the trial periods ran out and I elected only to continue using AnyDVD since I figured I could use dvdshrink for compression. However, now I am finding that when I use dvdshrink to back up a movie (with AnyDVD running in the background) it will go through all of the steps and appears to work fine. However, when I put the disk in my stand alone player I get a message saying that their is a disk error. I have tried using dvddecryptor and then dvdshrink. I have tried dvddecryptor, VOBblanker and then shrink. All of them seem to finish fine but the end result is the disk won't play in my stand alone player or my dvd drive that I used to burn the disk with. Is there a known problem with trying to use AnyDVD with any compression software other than dvdclone2? Slysoft suggests using AnyDVD with dvdclone2 because they work best together. Any thoughts?

I have used AnyDVD with DVDShrink many times without a hitch. What kind of media are you using?

What model is your burner and do you have the latest firmware update for it. Firmware is important.

There is a posibility that your player does not like the media type that you are using as well.

You can visit this link to find out the specifics of your particular player. http://www.videohelp.com/

Post back with burner and firmware version and media type. Consider using DVD+R and booktyping to DVD-ROM which will play in virtually any player.

The media type is Sony +R media. The burner is also a Sony burner so I would guess that the media is not the issue (especially since when I was using AnyDVD in conjunction with CloneDVD during the trial periods I had no problems what-so-ever). I have not checked whether the firmware is up to date. I will do that once I get home this evening.

As you can see from this link Sony is sometimes a roll of the dice.

Sometimes you will have good luck. Even if you buy a cake box you might have good luck for awhile then snake eyes.

I keep some RW around just for such problems. You can experiment with out starting a coaster collection.

Personally, I never use AnyDVD. Just DVD Decryptor, Shrink and IFO Edit. Never been stop by Sony.

the Sony DVD plus R media thats (MIJ) codes out as Taiyo Yuden so look for it if your using Sony.use DVD Identifier and post what your media codes out as and make sure its the same as the the ones you made with CloneDVD 2 . so look for better media Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim

whats your burn speed? try slowing it down to 4x

and yes your much better off using CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD IMHP theres a special this month mattter of fact if you want to pick it up

What program are you trying to burn with, Decrypter or Nero?

Thanks so much to all of you for the help and advice. I'm going to give a few more things a try, but with the discount that is being offered with slysoft, I might just buy the license for CloneDVD. It is such less hassle using it with AnyDVD.
