Not bad for the money Russ. ;) Have you looked at the T-force Biostar mobos for the AMD AM2+ socket?? Not to bad buddy. ;)
Ok... got some news on the OC for the DFI/Q6600 rig. ;) I took it to 2.75GHz so far and it seems ok... ran OCCT and Sandra so far and I'm happy but I'll read up more on the BIOS and figure some more settings to get more OC. ;) More, more, more.... lol. If anyone has the DFI X48-TR2 mobo be my guest to add "input"... it's got plenty of goodies that's for sure. lol. :P

It's not bad, but I think I'd take a Q6600 and P45-DS3R, get it to 3.6 ish on an Ultima-90 with a high speed fan if I had the same money. Call me an Intel fan, but raw performance, especially in games would place a 3.6Ghz Q6600 well in excess of a Phenom at any realistic speed.

I used to use those motherboards for customer AMD Builds. I like the GigaByte better, it has more features for the same money! Besides, all I need is the MB and CPU so you're looking at upgrading for under $200!

gm,
that Q6600 isn't even breaking a sweat. cmon, bump ur vcore up to about 1.45v and lets see what that DFI mobo and Q6600 can do. you'll prolly want to up the NBv and FSBTv a little as well.
your Q6600 is GO stepping right. if so then you should be able to hit 3.4ghz fairly easily. lets see an everest screenshot too so we can see what all DFI reports. BTW, are you using DDR2 800 or DDR2 1066 memory?

spamual,
Thanks for clearing that up! LOL!! Of course it's going to have a much higher price tag than the current Phenom Black Edition 9850 at $194! I'm impressed and happy with performance of the 64x2 4800+ I have now, and I suspect I'll be even happier with the 9850 Quad! I certainly won't lose any money building one!
Happy Computering,
Russ

Deneb is a very bright Star, so I'm certain that there are no more than one of them. Your use of it as a colloquialism or expression is unfamiliar to some of us and it is unlikely that you were using the word literally. What was your point?;D

I don't know what his point is but He ain't building any Deneb CPU machine for an investment of $300 to $350 like I can with the Phenom Black Edition 9850! LOL!!

You do know on air with this cpu that's NOT a bad OC!!! :P I'm still learning the BIOS... it took me a while to find out how to "adjust" the RAM.... lol. It was in plain sight but I was missing it... hehehe. :D

add: forgot to mention I'm using OCZ Freeze tp with this cpu.. haven't used it before but it seems ok to me. ;)
