The latest version for your drive is 1.11, if you need it you can get it here;

http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmware/SingleModel.aspx?DriveId=1311

Also, make sure you're using the latest version of anydvd, you can get it here, version 5.9.5.2 (just released);

Hi there @John123, does this bypass the latest version protection, (at least I'm guessing its a new version)? I tried ripping a dvd I bought for my kids, "Nickhalloween" [spongebob and stuff]and it wouldn't work. I'm using version 5.9.4.1. Will remove or fix anything else, just not this one. The movie plays fine with no problems too. I tried ripping with DVDDecrypter, DVD Shrink, and CloneDVD2. All came back with a bad sector error.

@pntyliner
version 5.9.5.2 was just released, if you want to know what changes have been made in this version, click here;

http://www.slysoft.com/download/changes_anydvd.txt

Nickhalloween and spongebob are movies that I have already done and my daughter is presently enjoying. I used AnyDVD version 5.9.4.1 and clonedvd2 (latest version 2.8.9.2) to back them up with no problems. If they all came back with a bad sector error when backing them up, even though the original DVDs play well, it's possible that you've got a bad press and the drive is having a problem with reading them correctly. I would suggest you return the DVDs and exchange then for another copy at the store, then try the backup process again on those.

You could also try using the ripper that is now part of AnyDVD as of version 5.9.1.1:

New: Added "AnyDVD Ripper". This little tool repairs defective DVDs
while copying them to your harddisk. It can be started from the menu of the AnyDVD fox icon. It can be started as a stand alone application from the start menu as well, so it can be used even if AnyDVD is not registered and the trial period has expired.
It is identical to FixVTS (http://www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS/) but instead of fixing problems "in place" it copies the files to your harddisk directly from the source DVD. It fixes the problems while the files are copied. Some DVDs which have severe mastering defects e.g., "Menace II Society" R1 (US) can now be copied with all DVD copy tools (elby CloneDVD, DVDShrink, etc.)

You can access it by right clicking on the red fox in your task bar and use it to rip the files to your hard drive, then use clonedvd2 to shrink, reauthor, and burn to disk.

I tried the return, they wouldn't do it because it was opened. But I like your idea for the ripper. I didn't even know that. Thanks for your help.

What the, It's totally legal to make copies of your "owned" originals! That's BS, they should at least have that mentioned as part of the specs. You got totally screwed. That sucks man.
