I recently installed AnyDVD 5.9.5.6 and noticed something very odd after my back up of several movies.

Backed up Domino R1, and AnyDVD indicated several layers of protection on the disk, no worries as it bypassed them so as I could back up the disk.

Upon completion I reviewed the disk for quality. I noted that AnyDVD stated that it detected Arcoss & Puppetlock still on the back-up disk?

I have checked other disks backed up a few months, and ALL of them state they are free of any encryption after it was backed up.

Question? Does the new back up of Domino still have the encryption or is this version of AnyDVD simply wrong in alerting me of this?

Regards

Teken-
Some movies after making a backup will still have encryption on them. You would have to use another program to get rid of the encryption. However, as long as AnyDVD alowed you to make a backup that is able to be watched, then you should have no problems. Keep a copy on your hard drive. You can always get another program that is free such as PgcEdit or VobBlanker to get rid of some of those troublesome problems.

Syxguns,

Thanks for the quick reply. I have several back ups which were encrypted with Puppetlock & Arcoss. None of them still have the encryption residing on the disk(s)

This must be a new form of (method) encryption, or rather how they inbed the encryption onto the disk(s).

In the big scheme of things its not a big deal. Just that I am trying to understand how it is still on the disk, if AnyDVD bypassed the said encryptors.

Anyone with more insight on the topic at hand, would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

This is not new or unheard of though it happening has been dismissed by many forum members. I've read about it going back a year ago and recently experinced this with Chicken Little. The culprit I'm guessing from my experience is SHRINK. SHRINK somehow manages to transfer DVD encryptions to the back up file or copy on some occasions how or what allows this I don't know, but I notice the other forum members that experienced this were using SHRINK also when this accured. To add to this I experience a similar happening using AnyDVD's ripping tool. After processing the original DVD to file using AnyDVD I then had to run the file back through VOB Blanker oddly enough. Again strange, but it happens.:P
