No, there is no such thing as 4-dimentional gaming. A hard drive is expected.

No, you really didn't get me. I suppose sony can call it whatever they want, but, no, there is no such thing as 4D gaming.

I've seen 4D gaming before...
...on the HOLODECK of the Starship Enterprise.
With all this hype surrounding the PS3 just maybe I won't be surprised if they manage to pull this one off.

rabbity u dont count cause u are byassed (u have a xbox 360 it is natural for u to say the ps3 is shit even though it will rain supreme over the xbox)but dont get me wrong if i was born a xbox player i would love the xbox but you know sony has been around (well making consoles since the very beggining and revolutionising the 20th century with the ps1 and the arrival of metal gear solid kinda helped it along a bit as well.So it is not fair for bill gates to take a bit of another industry and try and make it his own.Even though he has enough money staying in developing software programs(and hell probably make another 100 billion with windows vista coming out this year)
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest

GregI, it's not about owning a 360 or not. I don't have one and I assure you there's no such thing as 4D gaming. Kutaragi used that expression to express how good he felt the PS3 was going to look.
But consider that the PS3 graphic chip is a higher clocked version of a popular PC unit and that the Processor will run at 3.2GHz while many PC's have even faster processors, and the PS3's memory will be limited to 512MB, when many PC's this days have 1GB or more.
If there has been no 4D games for PC's, then it's highly unlikely that the PS3, as good as I expect it to be, will introduce a whole new dimension to gaming.
It's no surprise that Kutaragi made such a statement, as I remember when the PS2 was expected, Sony promised us graphics that would rival Pixar movies visually. I love my PS2, but we all know a Pixar movie looks a lot better.

hi there,i appreciate your reply.I heard the 4d gaming is going to be because of the blu ray technology or something (which i think HDTV sets will have.I see ur point about pc games but not all pc were just designed for that.Plus when running a game u need to ahve applications open and run windows at the same time while the ps3 will just be running games and can concentrate its cpu power on that. But if what u say is true about the ram and and cpu speed that means that my sony laptop will have a faster cpu than a ps3 (intel core duo 1.67ghz) and a nvidia gefore 7800 pro dynamic memory which will...lol
rival a ps3

WTF how can you call some one biased and a fanboy? Ever look at your own comments? Do you even know what 4D is? Let me explain:
1st Dimention- A straight line.
2nd Dimension- Image of something, a shape. It is not tangibile.
3rd Dimension- Someting real and solid.
4th Dimension- Time.
So you think PS3 games will utilize time changing abilities?
I think that is impossible, but fanboys can believe otherwise.

GregI i just read my previouse post, and i came accross a little rude, i was just saying wait till e3 do not just rely on something sony have made up.
i do not think i am biased, i admit that i like the xbox 360, but i do know my stuff and i base my points on that reaserch that i have done on this subject. i just feel that, although the ps3 has some very good features like, bluetooth, blue ray, new free oline play etc. the xbox 360 on the other hand has less of these kinds of features but for me M$ have put everything inside together in such a way that it exceeds the ps3 in graphical capablities, maybe not now but when unified shaders come into consideration. but even then i can not see much of a difference.
what i feel sony did is show some great cgi movies at last years e3 a long with some very nice specs but its how those specs work together that makes a great console and for me from what i have read and hear xbox 360 has the slight advantage.
i posted this a couple of days ago, see what you make of it -
ok well i just read an interview with the developers of the darkness for the ps3 and xbox 360 and i was extremely interested by this one question that ign asked -
IGN: What is it like to program and design the game for Xbox 360 versus the PlayStation 3? We're not looking to start a blood war here. We're more interested in what it's like to program for each, and what each one's strengths and weaknesses seem to be? Also, how do you foresee the two versions differing in the final product visually, gameplay-wise, sound wise?
Magnus Högdahl: The PS3 will have a content size advantage with blu-ray and a CPU advantage for titles that are able to utilize a lot of the SPUs. The Xbox360 has a slight GPU advantage and its general purpose triple-core CPU is relatively easy to utilize compared to SPUs. I expect that it will be near impossible to tell Xbox360 and PS3 screenshots apart.
oh and by the way this game looks fantastic.
anyways this basically sums up which console is more powerfull, neither, so now we go to the next thing, features such as blue ray, xbox live, exclusive games.

OK gregi, you win.
Somehow, Sony and the Cell will be able to manipulate time as we know it, plunging into a new world of 4d gaming. Forget Einstein, quantum mechanics, or relativity, the cell operates so fast that it actually exceeds the Speed of Light. What was I thinking?
Anyone who says that the PS3 isn't capable of 4d gaming is just a fanboy. Obivously.

the ps3 will include a 60gb hard drive. and no core packs or none of thats tupid shit here ,thank god !
as they said the hard drive is needed for any system out there. so they will all have a 60gb and you can upgrade bigger if you want.
for that when you get gran turismo 5 ,you will be able to download more tracks and cars . very nice.

Quote: my sony laptop will have a faster cpu than a ps3 (intel core duo 1.67ghz)
Not quite, the Cell will be clocked at 3.2GHz, nearly twice the frequency of your laptop's CPU. Besides, the Cell might not have two cores, but it has a revolutionary architechture.
It has one PPE or Power Processing unit (that's the main core) and eight SPE's or Synergystic Processing Elements (those are co-processors). As far as I know one of the SPE's will be inactive in the PS3's Cell Processor so that leaves us with seven SPE's.
You probably ask yourself if an SPE is equivalent to a core, well I guess it remains to be seen if the PS3's Cell Processor and its seven SPE's can outpower the XBOX 360's Xenon and its triple core architechture.

oofrome u being sarcastic?
anyway i appreciate the people who take this topic seriously.I know the xbox 360 is good but if u think in a business sense manufactures are all trying to outdo each other and the xbox 360 is allready realesed so that gives sony like an extra year to outdo the xbox 360
in terms of cpu and graphics but then again microsoft will probbaly work on a newer xbox just after the ps3 is realesed to see what specs the ps3 has and what the ps3 can really do.Persoanlly i think sony is just trying to hide something major from the public and keep them off guard then suddenly unveil it just before the realese that will blow us all away!(including microsoft.Do not underestimate sony on this one!Sony know what they are doing.

I am amazed to see what humanity has been degraded to. GregI you would actually believe sony if they told you that day was night and night was day wouldn't you? There is no such thing as four dimentional gaming and there never will be. There is no reasonable way that anything that alters time would be included in a game. First we would have to discover some way to alter time. Time traveling machines probably will never exist and if they ever do they wont be around in our lifetime, our childrens' lifetime, or our grandchildrens' lifetime. After we incorporate that technology in time traveling machines, then maybe some idiots might think to put it in a gaming console and create a major disaster.

Razengan clock frequency doesn't automatically make a processor better.
And many developers have outright stated that if any gaming console had the equivalent of a pentium d or good amd64 than they would have a significant advantage over either the cell or the 360 cpu.
and yes, gregii, I was being sarcastic. It's hard to take this topic seriously when you actually believe that 4d gaming is achievable.
whatever sony is talking about might be new, but I'm absolutely positive it isn't manipulating a dimension that we can barely percieve.

That would be considered a three dimentional object in real life aswell. The fourth dimension is time. That image is a complicated three dimentional object nothing more.
