hehe, as do I. I grew tired of waiting to see if anyone else had any success with these "new" MDPs, so I just bought myself a qoob pro and flashed it with GCOS 1.X :)
Was cheaper then the MDP too!
PSTwo(v12) /w DMS4 PRO(ToxisOS 0.41) /w HDD mod
NGC(D101) /w Qoob Pro (GCOS 1.x)
SNES /w custom case

Well, I have grown tired of swapping disks and memory cards. If anyone wants a MaxDrive Pro, you can have mine.
PM me with an offer. I will mail the memory card with all the software and the USB cable to the person with the highest bid before November 7. I also have a BBA for sale.
I have ordered a premodded GC with Viper Extreme. It has a USB connection for backing up games and what not. It costs a whopping $245.17 USD from MODCHIPMAN.COM. The cost is high but at least I won't need to swap disks.
I bought the MaxDrive Pro for about $50 (including shipping costs) back in June and I bought the BBA from amazon.com for about $35 in August. If you would like the BBA and/or MaxDrive Pro just send me a Private Message.
Update:
I decided to end the auction early because of an offer that was to hard to resist.
The card sold for $75. The buyer says it is working perfectly.
Thanks!

I've read a bunch of posts that says gc's can't read normal disks, just their special disks.
But the GCOS can boot backups without a mod, correct?
Basicly, I don't have to mod my gc to beable to boot backups? Granted I know I need a max drive, or sd adaptor, or bba/pso to put gcos on a mc.
I just need to clear that up, so i can figure where i'm going to go with my gc.
thanks

ya, sorry, i'm dyslexic, and when i see conflicting statements, I get confused. I was pretty sure it did, but been having a little trouble getting gcos onto my 251. I found someone in my area who has bba & pso1&2 (i have bba and pso1&2+), but he said he won't be able to let me do it until december. But even then, until it actually happens, i'm not going to count on it.
I don't really want to spend much more money on this, mainly since the $31 i spent on the bba, i could of got a mod chip. (recent price drops).
anyways, thanks for answering my question.

I don't see how it would ?? Or rather, a Wii version could probably be made but I don't see how the Cube version would work on Wii hardware/firmware/OS ??

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Max Drive Pro does NOT work with the Wii.
For some reason the Wii wont even read the disk (but it reads fine on the cube). Basically when you put in the disc it gives you an "unable to read" error. Guess we'll have to wait for someone to crack the Wii, which i dont think will take that long; but who knows.

hi, ive got a max drive pro and put gcos 1.x on it. i got some traxdata 4x mini DVD-R which are g04 dye. when i boot a backup copy of mario kart it works ok on the gamecube. the only problem is sometimes the screen flickers like if you have bad reception on an analogue tv signal. sometimes the screen goes completely black and comes back about 5 seconds later. i have two theories why this happens, one - the disc is scratched or not burned perfectly. two - the pot on my gamecube is too high which means it can read the disc ok 90% of the time but fails 10% of the time. i haven't tested the backup disc on any other gamecube yet. does anyone know what i can do to stop this happening? it happens at critical points in the race, screen goes black and i go off course. any help would be great thank you.

Actually the Max Drive Pro does work on the Wii if I use Action Replay 1.06 to load it up with Freeloader. However even though it works, gcos1.5 or 1.x does not function correctly as I can load it up but thats it.

ddmp,
I don't think it matters what MDP you get, it will force any region. brucedlx is the one to comfirm this but I'm 99% sure that's right. Soooo if that place has them get you one.
One thing I will mention is if you don't mind modding your cube do it, I think it will pay off in the end. I have the MDP and am happy with it buuuttttt if the kids mess up the disc can I really get another one to replace it? Just something to think about like you guys/gals don't have enough to think about already. lol.
Good luck to whoever and whatever you decide.
