Alright its
20 GB HDD= 499USD
60 GB HDD= 599USD
The controller looks the same except some differences.
Specs include:
1.X-Y-Z, pitch, roll, yaw, and lateral motion detection
2.Bluetooth and wireless controls
3.It's lighter than the PS2 controller
Whats funny is that the Sony fanboys dissed the wii's remote and now that the PS3 has some thing like wii functionality(although its not quite as simple or advanced)they are like awesome we look just fine moving our controller arounf like that. The controller just looks CRAPPY tho. I think it will be a bit insubstantial too.

i dunno...i think it's a great idea for sony to continue with the same design of the controller..i mean, why change a design that has fit so perfectly in our hands for about 10 years now? i think it's a smart move to go along with what we've been accustomed to for so long, and never had any complaints about....and that is the shape and feel of the ps controller....to go along with that, not only do we not have to worry about getting used to a newly designed controller, but we get one that is a little lighter, but also improved with the motion sensors...gives us a little something to look forward to....can't wait!

I was freaking piss when i heard they change the ps3 controller. WTF why would they use the same one as ps1 and ps2. I relly liked that first one they planed for ps3. I hope they change there mind. I think they are selling it way to cheap. $500 for a Blu-ray player is hella cheap.

The 500 dollar price tag was expected.
I was surprised at a 600 dollar system. That's pretty damn expensive.
AT the time sony announced a controller re-design, It was widely accepted that it was because fans reacted to it with such negativity.
Obviously, the real reasons were:
1. Lawsuit concerning rumble feature in the DualShock2.
2. An apparent interest in the Wii's controller functionality.
A nintendo representative already replied to the controller with a "immitation is the most sincere form of flattery" statement.
I'm not going to lash out at sony, because that's not really my style, and I think that fans of Sony might be genuinely excited about the controller.
However, does anyone remember the picture of a Sony remote that looked like the Revolution remote, with the phrase "What Nintendo create, we copy. Sony"? Sony-haters/Nintendo lovers had a good laugh at the picture, and Sony fans were offended. I'm not going to say how accurate that picture has turned out to be, but "immitation" is certainly a good way to start describing this Controller.
Not complaining, just saying what a lot of people are thinking.

Its a pity sony went the road they did. The PS2 controller is actually a terrible controller.. im sure alot of people disagree but thats mostly due to familarity. Were all used to it.. but that doesnt mean its good. Personally i dont play the xbox much, but i know the xbox controller is much better. Even a simple switch from convex analog sticks to concave would help greatly. Anyone who has played FPS's on a PS2 knows how shit the controller is. As for the motion senor thing.. haha.. we knew i was coming. Its a pity Sony dont put the great minds they have over in their company to better use and create something genuinely innovative.

Hey what do you guys think, is the better to buy, 20GB or 60GB. Obviously you get more for your money with 60 gig, but are you REALLY going to use that much memory, unless single game saves are like 1gig each, i dont really see a purpose of spending 100$ more, if im not gonna use all 60 gigs. On top of all that im in Canada, so its like 720$ with tax here (666$) without.
Just wanna see your opinions...

let be honest with ourselves now that some facts are out. sony didnt WOW anyone and has left the ball in MS court. same controller design and bit off of the nintendo wii,price tags are both higher even the one with the same hdd as the 360. the price raise is only for the Blu-ray player in the console which we saw how well sony intergrates dvd players in consoles...not so good. ps2's laser reader burnt out with an astounding frequency its even impressive the systems sold so much being as they broke so easily.i can name at least five of my friends who had atleast 2 ps2's break on them and unlike MS sonys customer service sucks.now onto the next dissapointemnt,no mention of launch tittles and no mention of details on there wanna be xbox live. they didnt give a price of the online serivce or even price for their games...ONE BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. MS looks like a king now, so if Sony messes their launch up as most companies do they wont have the luxury MS had which was recovery time and they'll be in deep sh!t. so great it comes with the a Blu-ray player,have fun spending 40dollars a movie,oh and unlike HD-DVD format Blu-ray isnt including a twin disc set for famalies who have old school dvd players.2 for 1 aint bad no matter how u look at it. Sony came out and iddnt impress anyone they infact look like idiots for copying the wii's ideas which sony fans bash day in and day out. onto the online service they'll have an half-a$$ wanna be xbox live. With MS releasing a larger hard drive later this yr sony doesnt have the edge in any ONE area. their accesories are sure to cost more we'll just have to wait and see about the price of their controllers and games

yeah i'd like to hear peoples view on the hard drive.60gb is alot of room,my laptop has 80gb and i only use @25gb.i think it will be more of a which is in stock when you go.you could just prob. add more later.this thing is going to be great.someone already said it but just for the blue-ray itself and able to play ps2 and reg. dvds.

I wonder, at first they say the HDD was upgradable. If that's the case, then if should be better to get the $500 unit and buy a SATA HDD later. Would like to know if it's like the 360 unit, that can't be upgraded unless Microsof sells a higher capacity unit.
Also, the controller doesn't look that great, but looks better than the boomerang shaped prototype. Too bad we'll have no rumble.

at that price sony will have to sell 8games per console just to make their money back and they are going to have to decrease the price of the standalone Blu-ray players by 40% in just under 6 mnths which is a tough task to do.Fanboys thought the ps3 would be so much greater than the 360 which they say isnt even next gen and it barely even competes with the 360.Sony's already shown they cant hold onto exclusives enter examples 1, 2, and 3 ...gta,resident evil,raw vs smackdown. 3 of there top selling titles in there presopecitve genres.Next thing u know u'll be playing god of war on the 360 wouldnt that be nice,nah just kidding that may a little too farfetched.All i got to say is cooming out a yr later this is just a dissapointment,its not different enough.
the nintedo wii is completely unique from both MS and sony. But for sony to come out a yr later which is now clear it was ONLY for the Blu-ray sake of things and nothign for enhancing the game system. they pretty much showed thier hand on this one, they want to promote the Blu-ray technology even at the risk of holding back the game console aspect of it all.The 360 now just has to bring someting BIG to the table tomorrow whether it be a price drop in xbox live gold or the system which i dont think they will drop the price in the system because of the high price of the ps3 they still look like the better deal of the two.MS needs to take their shot and make it worthwhile and if not u'll see me on here lacing into MS. Im no fanboy,at the prices we pay i judge all consoles harshly.Sony had there chance to take advantage of MS slip at the launch and they failed to do so. Now Ms has to capatilize of sony for their disrespct of the 360 in the way they just sat by for a yr and didnt bring nething new to the table

So the PlayStation 3, as we just learned, is launching as two different SKUs. Since many of you have asked here are the differences between the "base" and "premium" version of the console.
You lose 40GB (20GB base vs. 60GB)
You lose HDMI output
You lose MemoryStick / SD / CompactFlash slots
You lose 802.11 b/g wireless
You save $100

either way, its hella expensive and the blue ray is for movies. who would actually buy one when the 360 is basically just as good and if there is a difference its very little. I know the ps3 hasn't come out yet but watch I bet anybody the two systems graphics and speed will almost the same.

Thank goodness Sony scrapped the design of that old boomerang controller and sticked to the good old PlayStation controller design. Good job, Sony. Now, I'll definately buy the PlayStation 3. If they would have kept that ugly(the ugliest ever) controller design, there would have been no chance that by 2007, a PlayStation 3 would be sitting in my living room.

yeah i'd preffer getting the $600 one. that's a lot of feature the wireless being the big one and the hdd. it's only like $100 more anyway.

LOL : People love playin damage control for MS..PS3 is a far better console than 360 will ever be.360 buyer are mad because they bought a shell of a system.No HD-DVD drive you got to buy that.With the 20g hard it has,it really have 13g of room because of all the junk MS put on the Hard-Drive.

well personally i will never buy a hd dvd or a blue ray player for at least another 3 years. some company have partnered up with M$ to make this thing which will not cost much but basiclly you put it between your hard drive and xbox 360 and if your hard drive becomes full then you just put it onto that thing which you then hook up to the pc and then put everything thing on your pc, i know its not as good as having a 60G harddrive but think of it this way it an endless suppply of spcae, unless you do not have a pc.

$100 bucks is a lot for an extra 40G, should be able to put on in yourself for cheaper.
also $600 is a hell of a lot for this thing. If Blu-ray does not become the norm, then people that buy this thing will be getting screwed like all the BETAMAX owners back in the day.
You are talking almost $800 bucks with a couple games.
Unless I see something HUGE come from Sony in the next few days, I'm starting to think they may be in trouble. And I HATE MS!!!
