I think "Majic Jack" whatever it is should go to another forum because every time I get an update I'm thinking there is a new release for Fab & that's the reason I signed up for this thread. Not to hear folks going back & forth over minute issues that I know nothing about. Thread is titled "DVDFab Official/Beta release thread" I thought.

Indeed, whatever Magic Jack is, it has no place in this Release thread, jhill1023 please start your own thread for this..

If I remember correctly, its kind of a "do-it-yourself" VOIP.. You pay for the hardware (not sure if they give you a phone # or not, or if you can port your existing phone #).. You plug it into a USB port on your computer, plug your phone in, and you can make and receive phone calls...
Course, it'll only work when its plugged in or you have no phone.

@creaky
Magic Jack is basically a free second phone line that uses your pc, I guess much like a Cox cable phone. You order a zippo lighter sized gizmo and plug it into any powered USB port and plug a phone in the other end of gizmo. The software opens immediately and sends you to it's planet where you give them the info they ask for and they assign you a phone number for any area code you might want. This gives you unlimited long distance service to US and I believe Canada. The first charge is $44 for gizmo. Then 13 months later if you like it it's $20 a year. That's $64 for first 2 years. about $2.60 a month. If you have someone in a foreign country you can buy two and that'll get you free long distance to the world where there is broadband. I keep mine unplugged so I get no one I want calling at odd hours. Can't tell the difference in my land line.
It doesn't work properly with ANYDVD or DVDFab enabled-but has no problem with them not in use!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING DVDFab HD Decrypter ~
link (posted by greayagh)
link (posted by alan1476)
Dear All,
Effective with DVDFab v6.1.2.5, the updates for the free version of the product, DVDFab HD Decrypter, will no longer be linked to updates of the registered version. There are many reasons for this, some of which are explained below.
The effect of this new policy is that some of the features, fixes and updates in the release notes will not apply to the HD Decrypter version of the product immediately. Users attempting to use a feature that has not been updated will receive a message to that effect. This includes updates to copy protection schemes for both DVD and Blu-ray. Specifically, for V6.1.2.5, the protection removal for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is not included in DVDFab HD Decrypter. For Blu-ray to Blu-ray, only through MKB10 is supported, while MKB11-16 have been added to the registered version.
This new policy was developed in part due to the increased staff workload in maintaining all the versions and defeating the new protections of both Blu-ray and standard DVDs. We also feel that the registered users who support product development financially should have the most timely access to new features. These and other business factors will make it more feasible for us to continue to offer the free version of DVDFab on an ongoing basis.
DVDFab HD Decrypter will continue to receive immediate bug fixes, and new protection removal will be updated generally within 30-60 days of initial release to registered users. Thank you for understanding this new policy and we hope you will continue to use and enjoy DVDFab products.
Best regards,
Fengtao

this will be the beginning of the end IMO of dvdfab decrypter free version. no company could afford giving away a free product forever, dvdfab is no different. the updates have been getting slower and slower anyway so they may as well devote there time to just the pay version of the product and leave it at that! We understand Fengtao

I hope this does not infer that the registered-paid versions of DVD Fab "DVD to DVD" will NOT take two months for new protection renewals as well.

let me guess jpaulino, you're using a box system(dell,hp,etc.) with preloaded software and inferior ODDs. with my system (per my sig) i have been able to backup any new release in the last 5 or 6 years with never a problem. so it comes down to you're system/setup period. the only way to probably fix you're problem is to sit down in front of you're machine and backup the dvd our selfs which isn't possible unless you can afford the plane tickets lol

Don't be so quick to knock Dell pcs. I use out of the box Dells and have never had a problem until this last XPS set up which corrected itself. It still has all the soft ware that was preinstalled-Including Roxio and Nero which have been on all my machines w/o issues. :)

Same here, two of my main PC's (one's Win7 and the other is Win7 with Puppy Linux) are Dell's; get rid of the preloaded Dell crud and they're just as good as other PC's. If your crud works well then fair enough too :), i prefer to put my own programs of instead of what a manufacturer thinks that i want. Horses for courses though.
