Is it worth it to pay for AnyDVD, or does the free DVD43 work just as well?

Only if you come across alot of movies that can't be decrypted by FabDVD or ShrinkDVD. I would try thoes before I go out and buy AnyDVD. I personally have not had a big problem with ShrinkDVD or FabDVD decrypting my movies but I sure it's just a matter of time. But until then I will keep using the free programs. Just my thought on it.

Yes, anydvd is well worth the money IMO but if you are short on funds then DVDFab Decrypter is the second best option. DVDFab Decrypter breaks the encryption of a movie while putting it on your HDD. The best thing of all it's FREE!!

DVDFab Decrypter can be downloaded from the link in my sig ;)

EDIT: If you do buy anydvd make sure you completely uninstall dvd43 as they will conflict.

Is AnyDVD worth paying for? I would have to say "absolutely" because you'll get updates for FREE lifetime. However, I don't think it's the "right time" for me to get it (AnyDVD) yet, not now, not soon, but maybe one day in the near future.

I used nothing but (A) DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker (both FREE) and (B) DVD Decrypter + PSL Plugins (both FREE) and I have never encountered any dvds/movies that I can not rip whatsoever.

The choice is yours and good luck.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

I always use AnyDVD running behind DVD Shrink or clonedvd2. Really quick and easy. This saves the trouble of having to run VobBlanker. It never fails.

I guess Any DVD is worth it, but I am not going to pay for something that can be done for free. I am been able to successful rip and copy every movie I have tried thus far using just DVD Fab, VOB Blanker, and DVD Shrink. Sometimes it might take a little extra work to get it, but in the end they have all worked use just these 3 programs.

Hell yeah it's worth it. About the only useful thing I've bought with my credit card (other things I've bought with my credit card: porn, porn, and more porn)! If you don't feel like puckering up the cash, though, their are free options:
1. Like everyone has previously stated, DVDFab Decrypter is EXCELLENT! Get it here: http://dvdidle.com/free.htm
2. DVD Decrypter still can do a few movies (and can do every movie before March of 2005!). It can't handle Sony's Arcoss as well as DVDFab Decrypter though. Get it here: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/DVD_Decrypter/1011845169/1
3. If your determined to be cheap the rest of your life, barring Blu-ray and HD-DVD, check this out: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/255980 . Note that this is a harder course, but you'll learn a lot from it!
If all else fails, you'll just have to pucker up for AnyDVD or wait until DVDFab Decrypter is updated!

@acoolguy, you just missed a discount for being a member of AD. And, Yes, it's worth the money, even without the discount.

A real big YES! to this question....AnyDVD is practically on auto pilot right now. I back up the new tough stuff i.e. SONY Arccos and Macrovisions RipGuard encrypted movies with AnyDVD running in the backround and Nero Recode which if you don't know has "No" built-in decrypting feature. Again I say AMAZING! No need to combine other software. I still keep the other stuff i.e. VOB Blanker 2.0.1.1, Shrink 3.2, and CloneDVD2 on standby but I have not had to use them lately. Hey you belly ache over this stuff if you want too...The choice is real simple.:P

AnyDVD is worth every penny. I have only had to use VOBblanker once in 8 months with the movie Aquamarine (for my youngsters I swear!) I always just use Nero Recode with it and AnyDVD still does all encryptions, but has a little problem lately with bad sectors even with their ripper. Used Decrypter File mode then Blanker and all is well in the world.

Why pay for AnyDVD, AnyDVD is just a decrypter. DVDFab Express (FREE) has new encryptions beat before movie's come out, you usually have to wait a until a week after release for DVD43 or AnyDVD to update.

Personally I will never pay for a decrypter, Burning software Yes. Decrypters, NO.

Decrypters are what need continual up-dates to work, not burning software.

so, does Vobblanker just move the files from one location to another while fixing any bugs along the way, as well as letting you remove certain parts? Or what does it do?
