Welcome to the PSP Video Converting Guide by Sensei Seito (A.K.A. NGSpec)
[[BEFORE WE GET STARTED]]
To get MAXIMUM Compatibility and functionality from not only the Software we will be using but all of the Video Playing Software on your Computer, you need the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack).
You can get the CCCP from here - http://www.cccp-project.net/
Download the Latest Version of XviD4PSP from Winnydows - http://www.winnydows.com/xvid4psp.html
I RECOMMEND USING v4 - THE SAME VERSION THIS TUTORIAL USES
If you wish to Convert Quicktime, Real Media Files, your gonna need these:
Quicktime Alternative - http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/...ternative.shtml
Real Alternative - http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/...ternative.shtml
OK, lets begin, shall we?
[[TUTORIAL]]
1) After INSTALLING the CCCP, XviD4PSP and the optional Quicktime/Real Alternative, Open XviD4PSP.
2) The Main Window will appear (like shown below) - Click the 'Save folder' Tab and Browse to the Location where you want your PSP Videos to be. You shouldn't have to change the 'Temp folder' so leave that alone.

3) Click on 'File' > 'Open' - Next, Find and Open the Video you wish to convert.
4) When you open a Video File, the Preview Window will appear (like shown below) giving you options for Container Formats, like OGG or MKV, where you can select which Audio Stream you want and if you want Subtitles. When done, Click 'OK'.

5) Next is the Settings Window (like shown below), in the 'Format' Drop-down Menu, select MP4 PSP 3.30 (For all the LATEST PSP FIRMWARES), for older PSPs, select MP4 PSP, Under the 'Codec' Drop-down Menu, select either Quantizer Turbo (Fastest, Great Quality) or Quantizer Ultra (Slowest, but faster than Ultra 2-Pass, Best Quality) or choose one in between. The 'Bitrate' Drop-down Box under 'Audio' should be left at 128, but if you want better quality, simply put it higher (I use 192).

5a) In the 'Advanced' Tab you can choose a seperate Subtitles File as well as an alternate Audio Stream.
6) When done, click 'OK', you'll notice that after that, the settings you chose will stick (Apart from the Subtitles/Audio File Selection, obviously). After that you can add as many Jobs to the Queue as you want, which is great if you want lots to Convert overnight.
7) When your ready to start converting, click 'Jobs' > 'Start', your Videos will start converting straight away!
[[FURTHER READING]]
- Transfer Converted Videos to X:/VIDEO/ - For Old PSPs, X:/MP_ROOT/101ANV01/ (X: being your PSP Drive Letter)
- Don't expect perfect results with Quicktime OR Real Media Files, they are crap and you shouldn't download any videos in those formats.
- Priority: Look at the First Screenshot and you'll see at the bottom 'Realtime' - thats the Priority Setting. Leaving it at Normal is fine if your doing normal tasks and not doing something like Gaming or watching Videos, if you ARE, set it at Below Normal, for the fastest conversion, choose anything higher than 'Normal', 'Realtime' is the highest and fastest setting but I warn you, your computer will become fairly irresponsive when in this setting, which is why its best when doing overnight Conversion or Converting while your away.
- No FLV Support!! Convert the FLV file to AVI first then use XviD4PSP.
- REMEMBER TO SET THE FORMAT TO PSP MP4 FOR OLD PSPs!! - PSP MP4 3.30 ONLY WORKS WITH PSPs WITH NEWER FIRMWARES!!
Enjoy!

yo ngspec in your guide where u have writin that
"Transfer your file to "?:\MP_ROOT\101ANV01" and make sure its named with the number 10001 on the end, then 10002, 10003, etc."
i thought its ment to be MP_ROOT/100MNOV1/ur encoded file here Which has to be named like this M4V***** *= any digit 1-9 and so u have to put in any five digits u want and then only will ur psp reconise ur file.

Question? How do I make videos work on FW 1.5, I don't seem to have the MP_ROOT folder, even after I created my own it wouldnt work. When I was on 2.5 they worked just like you said but as soon as I downgraded all the nice features went away :(

Hi!
My PSP can't recognize the files created using the Guide
I guess that's 'cause it's not creating the .THM file
Any ideas on this??
Thanx

Hello, Net down sorry...
@ cflip, get Alcohol 120 or Daemon Tools, Mount the images and encode the right VOB files, check them with a DVD Player, WinDVD Etc.
@ferrar1, this is AVC (Advanced Video codec) it is all done correctly... follow guide and all will be well...
@ xxsaijin, download Devhook 0.46 Ultimate Installer, watch the vid's on Devhook with 2.71 FW.
@ Bladework, it probably will, it encodes prtty much anything.
@ cyberjqn, MAKE SURE IT'S NAMED RIGHT! It should show a default "Icon" if done correctly.
There you go!
Hope this helps!
