I haven't played W.A. since Playstation 1. And i'm supposed to be making an encylopedia on #4 (for a gaming site), all i know is from the strategy guide..hahah!

WA 1 was neat but simple
WA2 is as close to FF greatness as WA has got
WA3 is (not to sound stupid here) gaybecuse its horrableie balanced less than half thru the game you stop upgradeign your weapns becuse you maxed them out and by then feel boreing...bascily like FFX altho minus the soild story
WA4 I ahve no idea of the horrors they made for that game
WA1 remake is a "nerfed" WA1 where they removed some summons and shit just becuse they could other than that its not a bad game....just hate the stuipd moron that deside he wanted to change thigns.....(its like a FF7 remake removeing some summons and side quests and the point is...you have soem hair on your balls eh?....moron.....)

WTF you must also hate it becuse it has the evil cute chibis in it to...hate to tell you but FF9 has a better blaanced gmaepaly,equpiment setup and magic setup not to emntion you have a normal FF world to travel and explore.FFX is just handicaped here and there and slowly becomes frustrateing FF( is fun from begaining to end FFX is a chore like any other unthought out game or at the least dont add up all thos lil bits of frustraion that come from it....

Yeah...yeah...Everyone who loves FF9 must be either 9 years old or on too much drugs. As far as I am concern the graphics and voice over and everything about FFX kicks the crap out of pretty much every other final fantasy game. Just stop lying to yourselves.....FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!

In this generation of videogames.......ZIppyDSM..."Graphics" are more important than "gameplay" eventhough idealy you want a game with good graphics and good gameplay.
FFX is a good example of good graphics and good gameplay. FF9 may have decent gameplay..but lacks the graphical and visual beauty of FFX therefor FF9 is GAY!!! I feel sorry for people who are too retarded to not be able to comprehend that FFX is the MOST VISUALLY and GAMEPLAY exciting FF game of all time!!! THE TRUTH HURTS!!!!!
Because we are in the 21st century...I DEMAND that my games looking fu*king good!!!!! Not any of that nes poloygon crap!!

you have a point but I hate the potenial of a game sacerficed becsue they put to much effort into graphics.
I got annoyed and fustreated with FFX only 3 hours into it,I miss the equipment,I miss the world, its just no longer a FF game X2 is a pefect exsample its a spin off and games like F8 and FFX feel like a spin off.
with that said the gmaeplay of FFX goes from medicore RPG to medicore MMO with the item get thing (feeding weapons and summons),and now in FF12 you wont beable to control your charatcers becuse they think the AI can do better...thats just BS......FFX might look great but al the annoying lil thigns take from the game.
In my mind FFX has a slighty better story,the grid system works,the equipment system and equipment custmizeing fails,the summon system is ok,the summon exp system is annoying but bearable,the voice acting is no better no worse than normal anime dubing altho I have the Japanase version to and frankly it just sounds better in japaanse devs need to work harder to bring the japanase VA track over.

As far as i recall, the NES used sprites and prerendered backgrounds, not polygons. Polygons are only used for 3D rendering.

DJAshV is right. Until PlayStation, all games were sprites (well atleast SNES/Genesis/Atari/Colleco. not sure about Sega CD). PlayStation & Saturn introduced polygon-based graphics chip on hardware, to allow super fast manipulation of programming.
I think PS3 will level off the graphics ability for some time. Until we see HUD/HMD (head mounted displays), PS3 will be the top in graphics achievement. btw, anyone know what Pluto's Kiss is? bonus points if you do --> dot.hack

Ploygons are the triangle cable of doing better 3D compared to sprites whitch are dots I think *L*
And polygons are still used today thus 3d game= polygon..mabye his mind is tryign to tell him something ...hehehehehehe
on the F12 I ahve bad mixed feeligns about the gambit system sicne its notthing more than AI crontrolling your charatcer and not a Counter system....I just dont se what it brings to the table other than cheap not have to worry about other party members crap,this is why I couldnt finish Star Ocean 2,altho I did enjoy oh..what was that one on the PSX that had the talking swords its was a od side scroller 2D fighter like thing...mmmmm Tales of Desnity?
Anyway I saw that game as not a tipcail RPG and I didnt get my head out of joint......mmmmmm

Couple quick thoughts, and if this has been talked about before I'm sorry only skimmed through the first 34 pages of this, but the great things about FF7 and FF8 was that there was a large number of summons. My friends discs failed on FF9 before I could get far enough into it to make an opinion but it seemed fun.
I liked FFX a lot (beaten it seven times, working on the eighth). FFX2 was cool but no summons kinda put a damper on the experience but I have a fealing that if Square didnt put the name Final Fantasy on it lots of people would like it. The dress sphere system made for lots of replay oportunities and all the side quests make for lots of gameplay (78 hours, damned 100 Bevelle dungeon is killing me).
As for FF12, I'm definately looking forward to it but, to the people who have played it alrady, are there a lot of summons in it? In my opinion the summons made the game. Whenever you find a hard boss that you cant fight with just physical and magic attacks alone (I try to beat the game with as little of the extra help as possible) they always bail me out.
Sorry I rambled a bit but a lot to comment on in 38 pages.

TO me the gameplay is what makes the game,SUmmons are cute and all but can take mroe time to use unless they remember to put in a cutsceen skipper.
FFX2 is a ok basic RPG the only thign I hate about it is its a mission based RPG with no "world" ,timed misions,its realy more of a side quest than anythign else,but what realy kills me it is lack of equimnet sicne sheres come with thier equipment you only get 2 accerys to paly with,plus the "everyone can be anything" thing is getting old it was already old and annoying in FF5 why keep bringing ti back when it never adds to the gameplay.
I bleive in FF12 when you summon they apper and then fight along side you untill they time out,if a fights over they tag alng with you least untill their time runs out its like FFT/A and FF11.

I'm not sure how to explain this over the internet without going back and forth with lots of post but, I'll give it a try. All RPGs and the same basic gameplay, talk to this guy, line up and fight in 50 million random battles, save the world. They all have magic and do a decent job at worst of keeping the battles balanced so you dont get owned by not spending that extra five minutes leveling up. But what makes Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy is plot twists, Nobuo Uematsu doing the music and the "cute" summons to give the game some flash and make things fun (Nights of the Round from FF7 on weak little enemies outside of Midgar ^^).
But in FFX2 the equipment is the dress spheres. Need more defense? Put on the Dark Night sphere. Need more life? Put on the Mascot sphere. Because of that you only need the two accessory slots no give you whatever extra boost you need. Also, you can go from one side of the continent all the way to the other without getting on the airship so there is an open world.
Dont get me wrong, FFX2 isnt perfect but I just think it gets a bad rap in these forums and I got to defend it.

The director on FF13 has already said the game will be a blending of RPG & action toward a new style. What that style is, i don't know.
dot.hack & FF12 both represent an action-oriented style of RPGs while Xenosaga III, SMT, Dragon Quest 8 & Wild Arms 4/Suikoden V represent traditional RPGs. So you pick your favorite based on which side you're on. If you like action, the choice is easy. If you like traditional RPGs, it's more difficult because many developers are still thinking in the old school way. Retro will be hot on the PS3, but RPGs need to evolve. A wider audience also insures Square & other companies can afford the $3-$5+ million budgets for top PS3 games.

yes theres still the traditional rpgs around. i can't wait for xenosaga 3, and a new SMT was announced to come out on the ps3 :). i think FF13 will be a mixture of kingdom hearts and xenosaga/older FF battle systems. how that is going to work out, hell if anyone knows but im excited.

then go full real tiem and not have this half and half crap ,also when you get into th use of AI people need more options like the AI options you get in Baldars gate where you have CONTROL over what they do,unlike KOTOR witchs gives you 1 or 2 AI scripts and calls it a day.

you have to "gain" the abilty of AI multi scripts in FF12...it just walks like BS and talks like BS...it might just be BS

heres my problem with that with a full equipment set you can have so many little stat boosters and stuff it just makes the DSH half obselte.Now if they gave you the abilty to wear 4 accerys it wouldnt have been so bad,or mabye a accery that boosts your max accery you can equip.

I hear FF13 uses action points like oh whats there mech rpg game the 4th one of it,and other RPGs like Fallout :3
now thats soemthign I can look forward to...as long as they dont handicap the game by makeing a obsucre equipment system like in 7,8,X,X2,however in 7 it works the metria system is one of the few everythign for everyone systems that is near perfect,even with the limited equipment you bearly feel it becuse you can do some fun thigns with the metria,unlike 8 and X witch are not fun and intresting.

I jsut see the handicapiness of soem games and just cant let go,I do the same with comic movies BLade = BS to the 1000000000000 power
Xmen is badly done,Hulk is stuipd,Ffour is off,Spiderman is ok,Hellboy rules *L*
its like if they had the same equipment as FFX and the dress shperes like shit the new FF5 kinda and I might not love FF5 but it was fun haveng all mebmers kung fu or summon thier way out of battles :3

xhardc0re.....no hard feelings taken at all....but from all my years of gaming.....FFX is the most visually impressive and best in everything overall I have ever seen. This game is so good...it's still impressive to this day and is still the best ps2 rpg game PERIOD!!!
