im sure some people here have seen the video trailer for Killzone for ps3 and are rather impressed by the graphics. ive read that no other ps3 game will be as visually impressive as killzone. is this true?

you should probably google that yourself and see what vids and screenshots you come up with. then you can answer your own question. i am sure in time there will be some game on the ps3 that is absolutely outstanding.....compare launch game graphics for the ps2 with god of war, systems tend to progress with time

um sorri to tell u this, but any video that u can at the moment see of killzone 2 is pre rendered and the final game will not look nearly as good as the video.even the cutscenes would not look as good as what you saw.but only time can tell...

Gran Turismo HD this game will be better than KillZone far as graphics. This is one of Sony money maker games so trust me they will put there best into this game.

I think killzone will be great and have great visuals but I can't say it's the best I've seen from the sony lineup. In general beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so Like hade said check them out and see which one you like.I think we all have that one game in mind that we plan on getting for me it's resistance:fall of man.

Gametrailers.com have hd video's so check em out!

I think the final killzone will look rather close to the e3 '05 trailer. So you know thats gonna bet hard to beat but as for being the best; we'll only see that close to the end of p3's life cycle. (hopefully 10 years from now ;) )

That's a good point, I'm surprised no one brought that up.I remember when ps2 first came out I was impressed but if I were to compair some of those early games with the newer ones they would look pretty shabby.

I honestly can't believe the devs were able to make them look so good with only 3oomhz cpu etc!

It's the time and experience they gained working with the same hardware day in day out for years.
Just wait until they unlock the ps3's potential. I wouldn't be surprised if it ran Crysis without a single hitch

is there such thing as hd games? anyway, ive only seen vids for racing games and fps's for the ps2, and so far killzone looks the best, but i could be wrong.

Yes games are in HD for this new generation of consoles (atleast 360 and ps3). Ps3 has up to 1080p with HDMI

absolutely, and the other day i saw on my old crt an advert for saints row, and it had a little bit from the cutscene, and the gpahics looked much worse than on my Hd plasma that i use to play my 360,there really is a huge diff between hd and no hd,but the real wuestion is will 1080p look that much better than 720p? i think so,just look at the diff between 480p and 720p on the 360...lol

even with [final hardware] in mind, reaching good frame rates at 1080p with next-gen graphics is almost impossible. Instead many developers, ourselves included, are reworking so they run at 720p.

Make of it what you will.

Well we could try to wait for TGS?
I hope they manage to get that figured out though but its almost as if they're saying even the final hardware isn't powerful enough to run the games in 1080p.

yes so there are problems with 1080p,but sony did promise gt hd in 1080p,so we'll see what happens, but the videos don't seem to have any framerate problems, but anyways, alot of programmers might just in the begining have games at 720p,until everyone getz the feel and masters 1080p,once that's done, then you'd be able to see a huge difrence in quality, becuz 1080p is going to allow alot more pixels than 720p,and by looking a game on the 360 at 720p and one on the ps3 at 1080,it's going to be the diffrence between sd and hd,but it's going to take a while before that still happens...

@skater: Do you have a 1080p display?

The improvement from 720p to 1080p is not as large as the improvement from SD 480i/p to 720p. Do this experiment in your 720p display. Compare the PQ from these four sources and you'll see what I mean:

1. 480p - Progressive scan DVD
2. 720p - HDTV (ABC HD or ESPN HD)
3. 1080i - HDTV (most other channels including HBO HD)
4. 1080p - BluRay

BTW, I think eatsushi has a 60 inch Sony SXRD 1080p. Right eatsushi?

but with this in mind,i don't care about bluray or tv signals,i'm just talking about the ps3 and teh only way to tell the diff is once the ps3 actually comes out, until then no-one will know for sure...

yes i agree, although mgs4 sounds and looks very promising, it is nothing that can not be done on the xbox 360.

PS3 specs may look better than xbox 360 but i am yet to see a game on the PS3 that looks better than any of the top end xbox 360 games such as gears of war, mass effect and halo 3.

Well thats not entirely true. It would be a totally different exoerience on the 360. As a matter of fact it would prob be a crappy on at that.
Reason? Many people tend to forget the Blue-Ray factor. Kojima likes to push it so no doubt he'll be using ps3s full ability to use the mass storage of a brd to help the game stream levels and such off the disk. A dvd simply cannont to the same. No doubt, everything in a game of this magnitude and scale, made by such skilled devs will be bulit with that ability in mind.
Now when you port to 360 and u get stuck with all those load screans and such then you've changed the experience. We all know that in MGS the game experiance is everything!!!!!!

well firstly, looking at the graphics of mgs4 i see nothing special (not like crysis) so xbox 360 can handle the graphics, but even if the game is on 4 disks i see no reason to say it would be crappy on xbox 360, well in my experience for example i am playing saints row at the mommment, its a fairly large game (not in size but in length of story) and i have had the game for 7 days now but have only completed 25% of the game, while going at a nice pace for about 2 hrs a day, and also fitting in college work and forums. so if saints row were to be on 4 disks it would take me roughly one week before i would need to get up and change disks. but thats saints row what about mgs4, i mean " anything made on the ps3 is going to be way beter offcourse" so i gues mgs4 will be even bigger then saints row that being the case even if it is on 4 disks (if ported over to xbox 360) i would need get up somewhere around 2 weeks to change the disk and also taking into consideration that mgs4 is one of those games i have to get in the mood for b/c of the intence story line, unlike saints row which is more of a run and gun any time any where sort of game. oh and even if you play the game non stop like 10 hrs a day you will not be getting up like every 45 mins to change disk, it will be more like 14 hrs (just a wild gues but you know what i mean)

PS3 specs may look better than xbox 360 but i am yet to see a game on the PS3 that looks better than any of the top end xbox 360 games such as gears of war, mass effect and halo 3.
