Have you tried this solution yourself? Does it work? I'd be interested to know if it does, having just got my Swap Magic discs in the post this morning. :)

I don't think the problem is that both switches are covered for a longer period of time. I mean the same thing would happen if you just keep your console closed.

Seem to me that the console senses in a way that discs are being switched while both switches are down.

Do you mean you remove the piece of bluetack and load an original disc after each time you've played a backup or import?

I'll just add that I've been trying this technique since last night, and it works fine. So far. :)I even glued down the internal switch without problems.

The Blu Tak leaves a little trace on the other switch, but it's not exactly a big deal, and it does work.

I'll let you know if/when the laser burns out. :)

i am assuming that you guys are all from the US and UK. well im from australia and that puts me using a PAL version v12 ps2 (slimline) scph70002. i have read through this entire thread and have read all your trials and tribulations with sticking down the sensors inside the ps2. i was wondering, maybe did sony only put the 'boobytraps' in your version ps2's?? is UK NTSC or PAL? and please can you tell me where to find the DMS4 somewhere in australia.
thanks alot, happy modding :) RubixCube

UK is PAL, too, but we have the model 70003 (I think). Like I said, I haven't had any problems with mine so far, so hopefully you wouldn't either.

I know Blu-Tac is a revolutionary invetion in the world of re-useable adhesives... but I don't think it's good enough to fool a play-station into not realising that it's had 2 different discs swapped over while the lid is still closed.

The PS2NFO website, as far as I know, still haven't pdated their tutorial on how to use SWAP MAGIC with the new PSTwo. You have to be able to do detected AND undetected swaps in order to get around it. They have diagrams on how to install a toggle switch into the PS2 to permit this on their wesite.

Seriously, it works. I've tried it. Internal switch glued down with superglue, external one with Blu Tak. No trouble at all.

guys trust me, it'll work. I forgot to say that after you have finished playing your backup games, remove the blu tak and leave in a original game for about 1-2 minutes (this resets the pstwo memory of thinking the lid is closed). i know this is a bit fussy but this way will allow everyone to play their backup games safely and effectively until a new solution is brought out for the pstwo. Also i have talked with a japaneese friend of mine and he has said that they are planning on bringing out a flip lid for the pstwo but his company are waiting for funding. Just wait.

I will say again, their guide is not just for playing 1 swap backups. Its for playing games that need 2/3 swaps.

I have had both my sensors taped down for 13 days (2 weeks tomorrow) and still have had no problems.

SinghaBoi,

How can you say that their tutorial is only for multiple swaps???

They haven't even put this page up, it's still under construction. Take a look, www.ps2nfo.com/pstwo.html that's how it's been for ages, there's no mention of it only being intended for single swaps.

Well after all the for`s and against, I have bought myself a blue dot Matrix chip.I WENT OUT YESTERDAY AND BOUGHT THE WIRE, SOLDER, AND FLUX. All I need now is the guts to start it.I have found out that Matrix and Neoasic have found that the laser has a problem (burning out!!!) And there will be very soon a board that fits in side the PS2 (solderless) that will stop this laser burnering out.

ok i have a question. my friend sayed that i didn't need to buy the swapmagic disc and that all i needed was something to open the tray without pushing the button. is that what this process does? well if it does, he also sayed that i just had to put in a regular game like GTA 3, then open the tray, put in my back up (GTA SA) and the back up will load. please try this and tell me if this works. thank you

@ succubus: no, mine's the PAL version.

@ skmborder: I know that trick works with the Sega Saturn (it just required sticking down the trigger inside the Saturn, then some rapid swapping of original/backup discs), but I haven't heard of it for the PS2. If he can demonstrate it working, though, and it has no side effects, go with it. :)
