Remember it's good if the soldering looks nice and neat, but it's how the system performs that's important. Truth be told, if you're willing to learn, anybody can become an expert solderer. That's what I've been told by a couple modders. Most of us just don't have the time to do so. Anyway yeah there are several good modders around, kinda like different media, people will swear by anybody who does right by them.

Oh yeah totally correct! Looks are really just for show and as long as good standard practices are used the install will work well no matter how it looks. Others will try and make you think otherwise, great point Tokijin. Many even get sucked in by the "looks" of the install when performance is the factor they should be conceded with seeing how the install will most likely never be seen anyway ... wooohoooo!!!!

Yeah its a damn shame the PS2 is built so crappy, not even the Romeo mod can protect the console 100% of the time from laser burnout and this is because Sony makes crappy lasers that come out of their factory from day one with defects... shame just a shame I say!

Yeah I've read v.4-7 PS2's have really reliable lasers. I've got a v.4 that's going strong after 5 years, the last six after being modded with a MI. I baby it with quality Taiyo Yuden media. That's all I use for PS2 backups.

After reading that I bought a 100pk DVD-R Taiyo Yuden from Meritline.com.
I wish I had some pictures of xmodds work but word of mouth is good enough for me, it has to be good if enough people say it is. I'd take word of mouth from the everyday guy, like those on this forum and I anyday, saves us college kids some money.
xmodds just sent my PS2 off this morning, that was nice timing. I'm in VA for spring break and he said it only takes 1 day to arrive. Where he is located in SC is about 40 miles away from where my school is in NC.
Well the next thing I want to do is modify the case, I liked seeing those slim silver cases. Just for kicks would anyone mod their case, just change the case not adding any lights or anything like that, just change the case from the original PS2 case?

I have had my v7 PS2 for about 4 years now and use Verbatim DVD+R's since they tend to give me the best results. I just use a Magic V mod-chip and it's pretty good but it can't boot some ps1 back-ups i made.
like i made a back-up biohazard 2 and the original plays fine but the back-up wont load unless i use the original 1st. for ps2 games i use the Verbatim CD-R's.cheap CD/DVD media works just as good for either ps1/ps2 back-ups.
I cant get Fear Effect 1 & 2 back-ups to boot on my ps2. When the ps1 logo comes up when i try to play Fear Effect 1 & 2, the drive spins up and down whil clicking then just hangs there. all my other back-ups for ps1/ps2 work great other than Fear Effect 1 & 2.

PS2/GC only since I'am waiting on my first Xenium Gold SP

I chose DVD-R because they're compatiable with not only the PS2 but my XBOX too. My XBOX will direct boot DVD-R a lot easier than DVD+R and i've never ran into any problems. That way I don't have a stack of DVD-R for the XBOX and a stack of DVD+R for PS2. I've also read on PS2-scene.org that DVD-R boots better and causes less strain on the laser than DVD+R. I guess it also depends on the version of PS2 that you have, you have a V7, i'll be getting a V14.

Oh brother. Ok first off, cheap media doesn't work as well for PS2/PSX backups as quality media. You'll get a much higher coaster/boot failure rate with CMC Mag than Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Not to mention the cheap dyes will wear down your PS2 laser a lot faster. You can get quality Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media online for cheaper than crap media like CMC Mag. I don't understand how someone who does use quality Verb DVD+R media would say cheap media works just as well. Secondly, anybody who installs chips for $10, is not somebody you want to send your system to. Reputable modders charge $35+ for installs, this guy doesn't strike me as particulary reputable. If you're stupid enough to send your system to him, buyer beware. Look at the chips he's pushing. Now granted the GC chips are decent, but the PS2 chips are crap. MI, what brand? Matrix. Noone else makes legit Matrix Infinity chips. There are a ton of MI clones out there, if you don't know what brand you have, how do we know it's not a clone, or that you're familiar with clone chips at all? Magic chips are sorely outdated, the Duo2 is okay, and the DMS 3/EZI chips are outdated as well. They can work okay, but again the $10 install should raise red flags with anybody that has a brain. The EZI chips are anything but, they're a short cut to a useless PS2 for an inexperienced installer. I mean whatever, this probably ends in a flame war, but somebody has to point out the con artists. If it's me, so be it. Better than someone sending this guy their system and getting God-knows-what in return.
@ ps2gmrfan Be patient. One guy (Davbere) does most of teammodders installs. Three days isn't that long. If you don't here from him in a couple days, then think about looking elsewhere.

Its kind of strange that you take such a stance from 1 email you supposedly sent. If you read the site feedback you would see that we have good communiction and support.

Don't even think about looking elsewhere unless you're looking at xmodds. Davebere is probably just busy, remember this isn't a company its just the average joe like you and I that likes to make some extra money on the side as well as help people out. 3 days isn't long at all considering that we're not talking about a company, they have lives too work, college, etc.
I say submit another email, maybe with no as many details as you may have put in the other and wait for a reply then go from there. Simply keep replying to the email you'll receive from them until the problem is solved.

when i wanted my ps2 modded i did a quick search on xbox-scene and came up with team modders. Im glad i had dave do the work. He even fixxed the disc door that the kids fd up. The best part was when i got it back and could not get it to work. he worked with me for days to figure it out. Turned out my dvd burners were not as good as i thought and i had to get a new one. now every back up on several media types works great. even after i got maxell to burn he did not let it go. he thought i should try another burner and im glad i did. you can not go wrong with team modders.
on another note i would be careful about easybuy2000.

If you are the person running the site at teammodders your own site confirmed that the email was sent or received or whatever. Web form emails are anoying you might consider having a true address that prospective people can use instead of a lame web form system.
But thanks anyway I will be looking at a real forum with real modders for the work I want done.

If you'd put down the bong and email some people, you probably wouldn't be having this issue. So you bitch and moan about service, and take no initiative to help yourself. That's how the world works. It's a good think you never had to deal with FEMA, you'd be homeless performing sexual favors for vagrants just for a sandwich. I am friends with Davbere, and will make no secret about it. If you have a legit beef, that's one thing. But if you are impatient, then find another modder or contact Davbere again. More likely, you're just a tool being used by another modder. I must say, a particularly dull one at that. I'm friends with Davbere because he's helped me out a lot, has provided terrific support after the mod was done and it was no longer profitable for him. He doesn't need my money, he's slammed with mods from all over the world. He took the time to help me in spite of that. That proved his trustworthiness and reliability to me. You can make all the hate-filled, ignorant comments you want, Davbere's my friend. That's probably one more friend than you have.

Nope I sleep alone. I definitely prefer the company of women. Mya and Jessica Alba are taken, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't date a computer nerd anyway. I don't get out much, and I live in a small town. There's plenty of ammo there, not that you'd be able to use it. If you have nothing further to add to this site, then get out and stay it. I'm not getting in a flame war with a lesser opponent. That'd be like competing in the special olympics and bragging that I beat some mentally handicapped people.
