and i have explained this in the other page, read it.

pardon i was just frustrated as how you misenterpreted what i was saying. even if the spes work under the pau, the ppe is still dual threaded, and the spes just calculate code given. its like a commander (pau) general (ppe) and soldiers (spe's). that kinda relates i guess.

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

I find it hard to believe that the ps3 has a total of 16 threads. I will not believe this untill its is actually proven. One ppe or w.e is weaker than a 360 core, why would it have 2 threadS?

the ppe lacks general purpose, and thats what the 360 has. gaming doesnt really need general purpose.vthe ppe has 2 threads in what it does. where does it say the spes have threads too?

The general performance comes out of the threads.

which again is not very needed for producing games, but moreover for running processes. a gaming console never has too many processes. general purpose is good in a pc. the 360 has too much power in the wron areas, and too little it the other. sure it plays fine but they could have redecided.

wait who here thinks that it is 16 threaded? (or 14-threaded)

not me. it runs dual threaded. the spes are a part of that.

wow
dual threaded means 2 threads.
Duel processors
Duel cores
heck they call the cores in 360 dual threaded.

KK you like....ahh
According to you, a ppe is dual threaded(2 threads)
Threads make general performance.
therefore, this would mean the ppe *DOES'NT* lack general *performance*. ( not purpose
And therefore the 360 lacks general performance.

This would mean you are also saying that games wont really have use of the threads. So ps3's threads are useless.

Yes anibus, dual threaded means 2 threads. DUEL=2
Dual processors have 2 cores.
360 has 3 tripple threaded cores.

I find it impossible for the cell to have 16 threads. I even find it imposable to have more than 7 threads. But who knows.

7x2

threads don't make general performance.

the PPE is a stripped down, highly specialized processor. It has been optimized for high compute tasks.
This means that it is substuting average performance for all code and making it perform low on some types, and high on other types. (The high performance is in vectorized code and stuff that is most abundant in games.)

kookoo, I'm not sure who said that the cell is 16 or 14 threaded, because it isn't. the entire processor is dual-threaded. 2 instructions are issued per cycle. (4 every other cycle, which is what makes the SPE's so damn efficient. they carry out 4 instructions per bundle)

Threads make most out of general peroformance, thats why the 360 exeeds at it.

and if it didnt have any it would not run as needed. it has some, but like they said it is more specialized with its threads.

Sorry i did'nt finish my post. I was too sleepy.

The cell's core is probably dual threaded, but then it's spu's must give it thread's *because* they are *processing* units.

I'm just going to wait untill march 1's 2nd to see what information they are giving.

I predict that it has less than 6 threads, more than 3.
Settled?

i say 2, atleast for the ppe. no where else says its threaded. they all dont have to be hreaded, the spe's just rpocess what is given, and they can do up to three threads or three counts of info per clock due to vectoring. that means with 2 threads, it can run at optimum processin 2 parts of one thread then one of another, then vise versa.

If the Cell was 6-threaded, that would mean that game developers would have to write 6-threaded code for it. They don't.
It's a dual-threaded processor in which the SPE's excel at stream processing vectorized-type code. All the information bundles that the SPEs process come from the dual-threaded PPE.
Stop with this threading nonsense, already. :-)
