MasterChu,
Your guide is great. it worked before for me but doesn't seem to work anymore. i put my flash drive (Belkin 128mb) into the computer and open up max media creator, select the CDLOADER.elf file and click on create. when i have finished the file is on the drive in my computer, but when i load up media player, a message comes up say'No Media Files Found On Pendrive'. Can anyone help?

Unplug and plug back your Memory Stick until you see "Examining Pendrive..." changing to "CDLOADER.elf". It has happened to me too, but just unplugging and plugging back the stick should work.

Ace_2,
i tried this several times but the message still comes up. I also tried to copy some save game files but it tells me there is an error in saving. I think it could be due to my flash drive.

I think so too because it works, although I did not try to run a DVD backup as I don't have any.

MasterChu, you are such a genius. That thing with the warranty sticker worked. I took out the screw, but I did a few things different. "VOID" took a long while to appear, and I didn't peel off the whole seal. I just peeled what was needed to take the screw out. VOID was very faint, so 3 simultanious coats of black pemanent marker(with 10 min. between each coat) was enough to cover up the exposed VOID markings. Perfect!

Not me. I won't even be getting a PlayStation 3 until it becomes cheaper, A LOT cheaper than at launch. I will keep my PlayStation 2 for my backups and until there's a boot disc(or MOD chip) for the PlayStation 3, I'll keep on using my PlayStation 2(yeah, like I'm ever going to sell it, unless I find a Version 7. I'll sell my Version 14 when the laser is dead, replace it, take out the DMS4 SE Lite I'll have installed in it, get a Version 7, clean the laser, replace it if it's dead, solder the DMS4, find a Network Adapter, get HD Loader 0.8A, and an IDE hard drive).

Thats tight and was what i though i patch up mine just so it look nice, but people who had opened it eariler would have just rip it out and throw it away. The USB flash drive with AR takes too long to do but it works =) O and about the sticker what i used to do is use black styling glue to cover the back of it if some of the black stuff came off the sticker. lol. Anywhay nice post

"I'll sell my Version 14 when the laser is dead"

How long before a ps2 laser goes bad anyway? If I keep my originals and only play my backups.....I use first class media (verbatim) and I'm just curious to know how much time I actually have with my new version 14 before it goes?

I have been reading this post, and in one day I was able to get everything working and needed to play backup disks. I quickly burned a copy of Driv3r to test this "Mod" and it worked great. have but one question, I saw earlier in the post that someone had asked if it is possible to load any cheats using this backup method, is this possible, I would assume you would just stick the action replay disc back in to load that, and then load the backup....

GREAT JOB ON THIS POST MasterChu!!!!!

Pain in the ass.

to load ps1 backup games, you might as well use the old method
since the drive sensors are locked already.
insert original ps1 disk (more track numbers the better, unlike high TOC on ps2 DVD's)
power up your ps2 slimline with open disk cover.
after the ps color logo appears, the spinning disk will slow down, its your cue to swap the backup ps1 disk. it load normally like all ps1 games.

"Warning - stopping/replacing the disk/drive while spinning is dangerous. and may cause damage to the drive/console.
Caution do this at your own risk."

There is a way for the disc to be changed at a stop state but i will research/post it some other time.i also plan to post this guide (more in depth of course) at a separate forum later, what do you guys think?

How about this one, I have been reading everywhere that GT4 is an issue with this method, I have found some resources claiming that Toxic's patcher enables the ability to play a backup copy of GT4, but noone is very clear on this. I have an original of the game, but I am going to be moving and am afraid that my games will either be lost, or broken in the move (seems to happen everytime). There are no clear results it seems, I am wondering what to do, should I just keep my games in in my pocket for the whole move, or attempt making a few coasters to see if I can get it to work. Any methods that will work are helpful, especially with the cost of DL media.

Thanks,

Jakenkid
