DamonDash, What brand of LCD TV's have a better picture than Plasmas?
Have you viewed them next to each other? What burnout issue is there with Plasmas? Go to here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=40 and you and Gus give your opinions with a new thread. Your ignorance about Plasmas will be apparent.
Before you trash a new technology, please get the facts. I will say that LCD TV's are getting much better with picture quality, but the reasons I didn't purchase one was the lack of side viewing and the
black color was not dark enough for me. IMO. Please go to the site I recommended and do some reading, LEARN, dammit LEARN. LOL

avsforum is a must read resource for me especially before I make an equipment purchase. The guys at avsforum.com are industry professionals and serious (maybe even fanatical) audio/video/home theater hobbyists. They really know their stuff. Read and learn.

dblbogey7, finally someone else that reads and learns around here.
Ever since I joined AVSFORUM 3 years ago I have become an audio/video/home theater hobbyist. My wife thinks it is a sickness. LOL.

well plasmas will be called sed and be the best tv LATER ... not yet they still sufer burn ins and side to side angles . i mean its true i dont understand why you mb dont aceept it. for now the crt tube is still the best choice when it comes to quality . also even if you buy a warrnty i belive the burn in is not cover and if you poke the screen by aciddent you can kiss your 3+ dollar tv to the garbage.... and im talking about good extened warrntys from circuit city best buy and so on ...
WHERE HOWEVER i would buy a plasma or any tv is from costco why? because you pay for what it cost and its LIFETIME FULL CASH RETURN POLICY.... so if you break it or get bored of it in 3 or 2 or 5 years.. no worries just take it back and get full cash refuned... a reciep is not require but it makes it faster to find it on the computer database...
if no receip is availbe then you show them your costco membership card and they locate it from there.
really i dont get where your going with all this talk ... crt tube 1 lcd 2 and plasma 3 ..... based on OVERALL quality ...
true most of plasma look best vs lcd looking in FRONT OF YOU...
while lcd i belive it does not suffer from side to side angle or image burn in ....

Again your ignorance is evident with your lack of knowledge about Plasmas. Do you work at Costco? Are you a CRT TV salesman? Gus says "blah blah blah blah blah" Every one of your posts are all the same. Give me a link so I can see where your getting your moronic information. And PLEASE, go take an English class or use a spell checker.

i do not need to prove anyting as in the last page or so it clearly states from anoter website that crt tube are still the best possible tv quality regardless of plasma or lcd .... if it comes to size then the best option is dlp . but real real quality is crt tube, no i dont hate plasma and im well aware of what they are and how they funtion thats why i keep on talking back because it clearly states on this thread best tv for xbox 360/ps3 and the best is still CRT TUBE.
if not tell me why plasma is better then crt tube BASED ON BEST QUALITY. not space saving or that other crap , because ppl stated BEST TV for their console.

What website was that again? CRT TVs have been around for 50 years or so and like it or not newer technology is here and a lot better. Get it in your pea size brain that CRT TVs are a thing in the past.
Just because you cannot afford a Plasma is no reason to trash them.
Eventually you will get that nickel raise from Mcdonalds and buy a non CRT TV. Again, all the info you need about Plasmas is a click away

hhaha i laugh of you man... your the one that doesnt understand... i can afford a plasma . thats the the issues. the problem is it wont be anywhere near my 40 crt tube ... yes its a thing in the past but this new tech is not better then the crt tube ... just YET... it will be but the current ones are not .....
for what i understand your telling me that plasma looks better then the crt tube? then seriously man i dont know where you are learning everything but plasma is not better then crt tube...
they lack.... that all to it ... and for the record i can afford the most average plasma.. you have no ideal what i have so dont judge .... i just know the tech... once the sed hit stores then thats my call out but for now plasma are not any good
i asked you on the las post what was plasma better then a crt tube... and you did not say what was ... and im stil really want to know whats better about plasma vs crt tube...
Should I buy one of these sets?
Adults who understand the consequences can generally avoid serious burn-in. But kids present some uncertainty. If you have kids and a limited budget then you should keep in mind: If you buy a CRT set with an incomplete warranty then you are taking some risk. It is generally a mistake to connect a video game to a plasma or projection CRT set.

im thinking of getting a HD projector, which one do you guys think might be the right one for xbox 360(i dont want to have that burn in problem eithr) ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember a high end HDTV is not an option for everyone. If you don't have the space for a CRT HDTV, then a projector might be the solution. And do you really want to have get people to come pay and watch HD movies at your house (which BTW is illegal) just so you can pay for it?
This is just my opinion: plasma is a complete rip-off. Not only is it the most expensive, its picture quality isn't better, and you have to worry about burn in. And it's not just a problem with health bars. If you watch a particular station a lot, you'll very likely wind up with that station's logo (you know those little logos in the corner) burned in. If you're looking into buying a HDTV right now, you should probably go for DLP. LCD is nice, but it's expensive, and other better HDTV techs are coming soon (like SED).

the ghost image only appears because your playing it in an xbox 360 and not a normal xbox which it was designed on, because the xbox 360 has a completly diffent design , some games will get ghost images ect because an error has occured whilst it is emulating.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just said the exact same thing one post up:
Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These ghost images are related to an emulation problem, so they don't mean a problem with your TV.

i totaly agree with you , and theirs more ,, side angles look crap and so on ....
crt tubes look best in quality but dont go higher then 42'' so if its quality n size then dlp but if you want the best quality go off with crt tube, unless you have alot of cash and can afford (slim tvs such as lcd plasman n so on ) for about 7+ gs then the best you can get is crt tube,
and crt tubes dont suffer from image burn ins , projectors are diffrent thou from crt tube,

Halo 3 will come out before SC5 maybe, but not before Double Agent. Sorry to go off topic, but I am the only one disappointed that they changed Sam Fisher's voice?

Yeah, that is true that a lot of people don't realize: CRTs have the best picture quality. Only problem is that they are huge. That's why I can't wait for the SEDs to hit the market. They'll have the picture quality of CRT and the thinness of plasma.

attenuate really? so those sed are based on the quality of crt tube but finaly its going to perfection with no side to side angle crap outs or burn in ???? is this the " new plasmas" that we were waiting for after crt tube? i mean that plasmas were taken out for no dang reason but to make sales . then this is the next level after crt tube?... any disadvantes? i see a huge price ... oh well cross fingers that costco has it :P SED is using a different tech than CRT, but the picture quality is going to be the same. The thin displays now don't have as good of a quality as CRT, but SED will. As you guessed the only real disadvantage we'll see is price, but that will come down over time. There's also going to be OLED TVs, but those are farther out, and I'm not sure where they'll be in terms of quality. My recommendation is A) Buy a DLP until SED prices come down or B) Buy nothing now and save for SED.
Sorry, it's just that when someone asks a question, I'd like to answer it. HDTVs are a big purchase, and if someone is uninformed they can end up wasting $5000+. Plus, it is sorta Halo 3 related; it's talking about how to get the best possible visual experience in Halo 3.
SO SORRY FOR THE LONG POST BUT YOU ASKED INFO... srry could not find everything.. but i think this is more then enough
but i still conclude that why is plasma better then a crt tube?

The largest direct-view CRT TV's can only go 38" maximum.
http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/big_picture_crt.htm
Someone looking to go bigger than 38" would look elsewhere. I just traded in my Samsung DLP for the 60 inch SONY SXRD which is a perfect fit for my media room which is 25 feet by 15 feet.
If you don't want anything larger than 36 - 38 inches diagonal then CRT may be appropriate for you.
I myself think the 60 inch SXRD is worth the money.

Please go to http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=40 and post your opinion. Like dblbogey7 said earlier, AVS is full of great articles. I like my Plasma overall more than a CRT TV, 1.Size is limited with a CRT TV, 2.CRT TVs weigh MUCH more, 3. The space I save hanging my Plasma on my wall, creating a lot of extra room.
4. The sheer beauty of my Xbox 360 on a 50", doesn't get any better.
CRT HD TVs have great pictures, but after I weighed all the options last year, the Plasma won hands down. Is your TV 16:9 or 4:3? Also SD on my TV stretched still looks great. Do not give me another bull sshit ficticious statement about burn in. Learn about burn in. Also I'm watching my Plasma from the SIDE and hmmmmm, the picture is great.

dblbogey7, the 60 inch SXRD is very nice. I saw one out at CC a few weeks ago. Probably was not calibrated very well, but the picture was sweet.

$3000 is my spending limit.
I'm looking for a T.V that can handle 8 hours of game and not burn any bulb or similar stuff. And that can last for atleast 4 years.
Can you provide me with a good one link?

4. The sheer beauty of my Xbox 360 on a 50", doesn't get any better.
it can but thats the only reason true reason why your tv maybe good...
i dont qualify space saving factor as a best tv quality factor...
i have a widescreen 16x9 .....
soulz9 if you want all of your specs that you just mentioned then i HIGHLY RECOMMEND this set up .. its a crt tube with only the best possible quality... no image burn in and looks perfect in all angle directions and last more then what you need .. BUT MOST IMPORTANLY it meets all your requirements INCLUDING THE PRICE BUDGET!!!!... check it out . i know you wont be disapointed.. PS: I DO NOT LIMT SPACE SAVING vs best qualiy..
anoter tip . try to get things only from costco :P .... they have LIFETIME FULL CASH RETURN POLICY. on everything.. say you buy a crt tube ( if you find any ) you pay 1200 and you get bored of it in 3 years... return it no questions asked and you get your cash back . not store credit or exchange... cash ... its a warranty from them on their entire store . doesnt matter if you get bored of it or it breaks or w/e.... thats whre i got my 360 ... hehehe

The good: Highest resolution of any consumer direct-view HDTV; independent memory per input; excellent color decoding.
The bad: Bulky tube form factor.
The bottom line: This is the reference standard for picture quality among direct-view HDTVs and happens to be a great value.

Gus, why do you post the same sh*t in every forum? Any person with half a brain could care the f*cken less about CNET reviews.
And yes CRT TVs can also BURN IN.
soulz9, how much room do you have? Why 4 years? LCD's are getting better, but they still may have a lag problem. The newer ones may not. A Plasma would also be nice, but its best to "break in" any new TV you buy. Go here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/index.php? and go to Display devices and ask your question and you will get some great help.

Toshiba challenges plasma and
LCD with SED panel
January 12, 2005; 12:25 p.m.
Toshiba Canon SED (Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display)
The product: It's not officially a product yet, meaning Toshiba didn't announce final pricing or availability, but on paper, SED, codeveloped with camera maker Canon, looks promising. A flat-panel display technology, SED (Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display) uses phosphors activated by an electron emitter, just like standard CRT tube televisions. Supposedly, the result is tube-level picture quality in a flat form factor. Details were sketchy, but the first model should be 50 inches in size and have full 1,920x1,080 resolution.
SED technology
50-inch flat-panel HDTV
1,080 resolution
The prospects: First-generation 50-inch SED sets could go on sale as early as the end of 2006. Prices are sure to be very high at first, a bit higher than the biggest-screen LCDs (more than $10,000). The stakes are also high; if the technology catches on, it could well challenge LCD and plasma, which currently don't quite approach CRT-level image quality.
Currently there are four flavours to choose from. The good old CRTs. Then there are rear projection TVs which are either LCD or DLP based. Next, there was LCD panel TVs and finally came Plasma. But you want to know what the next big thing is. What could be better then all of the above? Imagine having the quality of a CRT based display with its high contrast ratios and refresh rates with the slim form factor of a plasma TV. That, ladies and gentlemen, is a SED TV.
NOW THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT someone that has money can afford the very BEST.

Thanks all for the information. I heard CRT were the best gaming TV's. But I didn't check the new SXRD.
The reason I said 4 years is because I will stay in the same apartment for aproximelty 4 years, and I'm planning to buy all the new consoles coming out. I already own an Xbox360. So what would be the best advice to go with which type
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-...
or
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-...
and if there are any better please tell me. In addition, I'm looking for a TV thats 50" to 60" around there. And again thanks alot for the replies. Can someone tell me if the RP HTDV are DLP or is that a different story? The only thing I know about DLP's they are better than LCD.

50" Grand WEGA? SXRD? Rear Projection HDTVKDS-R50XBR1
that seems to be the best one since both cost the same and the other is 720 and this is 1080 .... but really best way to know is to look at them and see which tv you really like for you taste...
2nly i DEFITANLy recommend going to costco because say you buy a 3000 tv and ( as time gets better) you get bored of it or w/e reason just go back and get LIFETIME FULL CASH REFUND... meaning you get every penny....
thats why i got my xbox 360 , once im done with h3 i return the 360 ....
just check out costco and other stores to compare... but if i was in your place say the tv cost 1 g more then oviosly its worth it . why? well thats what usualyl the warrnaty cost on circuit city and its not coverd against image burn in ... as where in costco edvetually u know its going to get burn in and well my friend thats where you get your cash back and you can get anyting you want... hell by then the sed is here.
deftianly check out costco... they have good 50'' lcd and plasma... and they look amazing of course in a stright image towards you ... and you gotta be far in distince....
anyways enjoy
