Delmorte you seem to know what your talking about. I have an older version playstation 2 not the slim one. Do you know where to put the putty on this one? I am new to this all but am amazed at what all can be done.
OMG THIS DOES WORK!!!!! I have the same model as this and i ordered magic keys 2 off of eBay(not a good idea). When it arrived, piece 3 was broken :( (this is why). But anyways, i forgot i read this thread a long time ago so i went ahead installed piece 1 & 2 and it span without piece 3!!!! I was so happy except the fact that part of it was broken. But i don't feel like sending it back or anything. Also, piece 1 wasn't "low" enough and nearly had to force it to close but it still closes. I think i may have gotten a generic or something b/c piece 1 & 2 had a sort of blue tint to it...oddly piece 3 was the regular.....well at least it works :) I'm still happy
EDIT I bought this ps2 in January of this year...it was the satin silver and i bought at wal-mart in Kentucky...i don't know if this means anything but additional information doesn't hurt :)

Dude on the Magic Keys II, you need to remove the blue layer on the keys especially on the second key so that it doesn't scratch your cd's. It's actually not a blue tint, its a removable useless thin layer that maybe protects it from scratches or something.
