I can't get my multidisk game to work following the guide either. Using 3.40 OE-A. No spaces in the bin file name, or in the game title name when I run PyPops. Correct GameID, SLUS00628, Lunar The Silver Star Story Complete. It completes just fine, but when I try and run the game, it says it's corrupted and cannot run. I just made fresh images of both discs too.
Getting really annoying seeing as how I'm at the end of the first disc, and I have no way to change to disc 2. I've been working on this for a few hours now.

Nevermind. I updated to 3.71m33-4 and redid the conversion and it worked fine.

Use a program such as ICETEA to rip the iso from the eboot.

Thanks ibizagti for this great guide. The directions worked great and now I have FF7 on my PSP. This was the main reason I wanted CFW in the first place. Why SONY didn't just make the FF7 for the PSP will always be a mystery to me. Seems like they would have made a fortune doing that.
Anyway I did have one question though. When you mention the following:
Originally posted by ibizagti:
If you want to add a background or icon for when the eboot is selected in the XMB, just put them into the PyPOPS folder, named ICON0.png, PIC0.png like normal.
Where exactly are you supposed to put the background and icon files?
I put them in the PyPOPS 0.1b folder, where the PyPOPS Start button is but when the eboot is created and I copy the FinalFantasy7 folder onto my PSP, the game still shows up with the default PSOne icon and no Background, although the music is playing. I named the files ICON0.png and PIC0.png like you specified but they just don't seem to have been copied into the eboot file.
Any thoughts on what I may have done wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again for a great guide. Even if I can't get the icon and background to show up, I can still play FF7!
****Edit****
I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong. I saved my .png files as ICON0.png when they were already .png files so the program read them as ICON0.png.png. Newb mistake I guess. Figured it out through trial and error. Also found a great site explaining what the extras are and how they are used. This info may be here already but I couldn't find it.
ICON0.png is the icon that appears in the XMB browser
PIC1.png is the background image that comes up when you highlight the game in the XMB browser
PIC0.png is an overlay image that replaces the standard XMB font game title. It is usually transparent so that if used with a background image PIC1.png, it will layer nicely on top it.
ICON1.pmf is a video that replaces ICON0 when you highlight the game in the XMB
SND0.at3 is an AT3-format audio track that plays when the game is highlighted (Don't use if ICON1.pmf has music)
BOOT.png is the image that appears right when you launch the game
Credit goes to http://www.blastprocessing.net/?page_id=82 for the info
Hope this help a fellow newb trying to relive their FF7 glory days!

I've made a multi-disc eboot of FF8 and changed the pic1 and icon0 to the one i desired.
But when it is finished, the thumbnail of the save data is different from the icon0 that I've used. A vampire-like picture is shown.
Did I missed something? Please help

are the pictures you used in the correct format (eg .png)?
Also, are you sure you entered the correct file names for the picture? (ie. if you dont have file extensions shown in windows you may have renamed the picture to icon.png.png by mistake).

I think I renamed it correctly. I've retried the process, this time using cmd but the same outcome occured.
Is the icon0.png that you used in the process will automatically be the save game thumbnail? The same happened to me when I ripped Tenchu Stealth Assasins from a psx cd. The Vampire-like picture is also it's save game thumbnail.
This is what it look like: http://www.flickr.com/photos/37760293@N05/3475233340/
Does it ring a bell anyone?

Originally posted by ibizagti: There have been a few posts recently talking about creating eboots for multi-disk PSX games to be played on PSP. After having a look into it my self to create a MGS eboot, I thought i'd right a quick guide to try and helps others out.
Some of the old PSX games such as Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy etc were on 1 or more CD's,which gives a problem when converting to be played on PSP as some of them didn?t give the opportunity to save the game before switching disks. Therefore, when you load up a separately created eboot (for disk 2 for example), it shows that there is no save data.
Because of this, it is necessary to create a combined eboot file from both of the disks together.
To do this, first download PyPOPS from HERE. You will also need to download and install the Python Interpreter, which you can get from HERE.
Unzip the PyPOPS file, and double click PyPOPS.py. This will open a GUI, and a black command window. DO NOT CLOSE THE COMMAND WINDOW.
Make sure you have images of the disks you want to convert (use IMGBURN?here). Now, just select the files you wish to convert, and make sure the compression is set to 9.
If you want to add a background or icon for when the eboot is selected in the XMB, just put them into the PyPOPS folder, named ICON0.png, PIC0.png like normal.
Finally, just make sure the games title (see update 2) and code are correct (see update 1 for info on how to find the game code), and make the eboot.
Commands will show in the black command window, just leave it alone and let it do its thing. When it?s finished, your eboot will be output into the PyPOPS folder.
Copy his into the \PSP\GAME folder of your memory card, and it should play from there.
Note that depending on your firmware, you may have to install POPSLOADER to run PS1 games properly. I am running 3.71 M33-4, and have never had any problems at all.
All credit for the PyPOPS program goes to darkthorne of qj.net (HERE).
This is the first guide I have written, so feedback etc is welcome.
Hope that helps a few people out.
IbizaGTI
UPDATE 1: PyPOPS requires the GAME CODE of the game you are converting for it to make the combined eboot. If the game code is not entered, you will receive error saying something like "Invalid number of arguments...the system cannot find the file specified.".
The easiest way i have found to get the game code is using ICETEA, which is single eboot creator (download HERE). Unzip the file (you must unzip it to use the game id autodetect feature), and run icetea.exe. When the GUI has loaded, select the image file (.iso/.bin etc) of the first disk of your game. The game code will then be displayed on the right hand side of the window, in the Game ID box. It should be something like SLPS01222.
Copy this code into the GAME CODE field in PyPOPS, and you should't get the errors anymore.
UPDATE 2: It has become apparent that some people have been having problems with an error along the lines of syntax incorrect when creating the eboot. To fix this problem, when inputting the GAME TITLE, ensure no spaces are entered. eg for Final Fantasy 7, enter FinalFanasy7. This will stop the syntax error and your eboot should be created correctly. Thanks to Hasan93, SithProbe and Nomad32 for bringing this to my attention :).
do u think you can make me a final fantasy VII one?

I've been using this thread along with your other guide for making single-disk eboots, and so far everything works perfectly except for my Final Fantasy IX multi-disk and single-disk (disc one)eboots.
I'm currently running 5.00 M33-4 on my Original (fat) PSP.
What happens, both on my multi-disk eboot and the one I made solely for disk one (because of this problem), is the PlayStation logo, the opening Squaresoft text, and the entire movie (sound and everything) run perfectly even to the fading out crystal into the main menu. I can open up the continue menu and everything in there works smoothly (except I have no saves to run off of), but the problem occurs when I select New Game. The confirmation sound rings and the screen fades away, but then nothing happens. It fades to black and stays there- for hours if I let it. I've tried resetting to every other disk, selecting new game off them, and having the game prompt me to change to disk one, but even those methods don't work- it just stays black. It's frustrating beyond belief.
I've re-ImgBurned the first disk over three times, re-made the multi-disk eboot of FFIX and loaded/deleted it onto/from my PSP, added the KEYS.BIN and omitted it, and I've even changed my PSP to 1.50 kernel from the recovery menu following some advice I got off another website. Yet, nothing works. It still works absolutely perfect until I select New Game and goes to black.
I've seen advice saying that to solve it I need to download POPSloader, but I know that I already have that. I've made single-disk eboots of Blazing Dragons and Megaman 8 that both show the white POPS screen at the beginning then continue onto the PlayStation logo and the games- which both run perfectly. The Disk One eboot I made does the exact same thing until I select New Game, then it returns to my recurring problem.
Am I missing something? I know you all know what you're talking about so I trust the advice here more than anywhere else I've been, and I really need some advice on how to solve this.
I would greatly, greatly appreciate any you could give.

Has anyone heard of Simple Popstation GUI? I'm not sure if it makes multi-disk eboots, but it can make the game numbers the same so your save files carry over to the next disk
