Sorry guys but I'm seeing this thread fall farther and farther from it's purpose. These questions have been discussed in detail on their own threads, just use the search feature. Sorry for the late reply, my repeater gave out on my and i needed to get a new switch.

Hey,
I'm having major issues. I have the Magic V 50K chip and i just got FF7. When i went to save, it says i don't have a memory card! I've tried to empty out slots and played it 3 times again but still the same thing shows up. I don't kno if it's the mod chip but can you help me in any way?

did you use ps1 mem card? or the ps2 mem card?.... if you play ps1 games use ps1 mem card...

this might be stupid since I'm new here but do you guys have a forum or thread dedicated to vendors? Since there are many online stores it'd be nice if we could read peoples opinions and experiences with the vendors but since most of them have names such as "modchip.ca" doing a search for the store you want to find out about returns way to many hits to be effective.

alright i just need a little bit clearing up here. my ps2 is one of the older ones, i think v2. i tried out testing if my ps2 can read dvd-r with a backed up movie i have but it couldnt read it and gave me a disc read error. but someone in the beginning of the thread said that his ps2 doesnt play dvd-r movies but does play dvd-r games. so im not giving up hope yet on trying to play backup games. now im thinking of getting a swap disc and slide card combo to try and play my backup games, i dont want a mod chip because i dont feel secure enough to install it myself and getting a pre modded one is too much money and also i dont wanna void my warranty.
so i think i have a v2 ps2 or one of the first ones and my dvd version on the ps2 is 1.00. im wondering if this will work for me and i just need feedback from ppl so i feel more secure getting it and trying it out.
im gonna burn with Alcohol 120% on Matrix 4x 4.7 GB DVD-R discs. im wondering if this is the right disc and program to use and if it'll work. any feedback and suggestions or anything u have thats more easier please reply, thanks.

Anything is worth a shot. If you're willing to lose out on that money then sure, take it. You have the right media, just burn it at 1x (i suggest DVDDecrypter, its more simplistic and will narrow down the variables of error). good luck.

thanks. but does anyone know why my DVR-103 drive cant read the newer ps2 games. i updated the firmware to 2.00 but still no luck. any suggestions?
also is there anyway to clean out ur laser without voiding the warranty cuz i think my laser is a little worn cuz it boots up games slower than it used to and sometimes make squeaky sounds.

Would anyone know the disadvvantages of slide-card and wether it riunes anything about the PS2 or has a long term affect.

get a fliptop since you can damage gears and motors inside the PS2 disc tray if you use the slide card incorrectly.

But the fliptop seems like a fiddly thing to place on and that you have to open the CD tray in some way to use it.

If you're worrying about ease of use then get a flip top over a slide card.

I am new at this as well and I am having a problem with my dms3 chip loading up some of my games...what can i do to fix this? Sometimes it starts making a clicking noise when it starts to load...Or is there a program that will help me load up easier?...please help!!!

I am using DVD Decrypter. After making the .iso (.mds), i took out the ps2 games and put in a blank dvd-r. It don't let me make a backup. On the bottome of the screen it say Device Not Ready(Medium Not Present). What does that mean Medium Not Present?? Why is it showing this? What can I do?

Reset DVD Decrypter, it does that sometimes for a while or it stays like that.

I close it and open it over and over again, but it still come out the same. I put in defaults setting as well and it still deplay Device Not Ready (Medium Not Present). Do i need another program or something else? If it stay like is, what can I do to make backup on ps2 game??
