IHoe, I have NEVER had any trouble with an AnyDVD Update either. Not once. I guess maybe it's because I always do what Slysoft says & install over the previous version? Just a thought. Oh, and I DO have my purchased from Slysoft keys too.

IHoe,
There MUST be some common denominator here somewhere. The fact that a lot of people have problems and a lot do not points to some common thing that the ones having trouble all have. I don't know really. But there has to be a reason.

my gut feeling on this is:its has something to do with the microsoft updates.
i feel microsoft is installing some type of code on some users computers..to see if they can cause a problem with some of the rippers and programs so it can later on be incorporated in vista....and track those computers.
do ye realty think that microsofts update site only checks for only the last updates thats on your computer.so to know what update to install...
you know they are checking a lot more then that..
ye all know the studios and microsoft are in bed together..
i do notice this stuff happens after a microsoft update..
my 2-cents worth..

@Ireland....... you may have something there...... don't you know that it's all big business! they have a time schedule...... make new operating systems, new cars, new things for the consumer to buy NEW and get rid of the old! how many times can you buy the same movie? First on VHS then on DVD now on HD-DVD, and who knows if the predominant format will be Blu-ray or HD-DVD? It's all about money! why sell us the DVD recorders and then tell you what you can and can not record! It's all a bunch of hooooie and you can actually be put in jail for it and fined and ruin your life on this! why? I get auto updates on Windows. Yes I once had a problem after a Windows update..... but I did a system restore and it was gone! And Windows updated itself again and no problem! I read a lot of what you said about Windows Vista and read the articles that you had linked to! Windows Vista will be putting spyware on the computer to track and watch what is being played/recorded/downloaded and how much it will allow you to watch and record and download!!!! I won't be buying Windows Vista until Microsoft takes out this crap or if you can just use the operating system without this BIG BROTHER CRAP on it!

Well, this is only for information: I Install ALL Critical Updates that MSFT releases. I have no problems with AnyDVD Updates. The only one I have not installed is Internet Explorer 7. In my opinion, it's a software conflict issue. I build my own Computers.I have limited ripping and burning software on them. Just a thought for pondering.

I personally don't use IE at all. I am a Firefox fan and have no problems with any of the updates that slysoft provides. IE has so many back doors that it allows spyware and adware to enter by that I hate it.
IMHO. :)

I've been using Clone/Anydvd for over 2 years now (legal version of AnyDVD). Bought a new PC around June for on line use from Dell. A few weeks ago during one of the AnyDVD updates I got the No drive found error. Its still with me even if I go back to older versions. I think it started with either 6090 or 6092. AnyDVD will work as long as I don't reboot. I haven't had time to play with my home PC since I'm so busy at work right now. I will try Irelands suggestion of the beta 6096 maybe this weekend. The burner is made by LG which I don't really like but I need to figure out why this started. As stated it may have to do with the new SIGNED drivers.

Well I did an experiment to try and find out what was going on. I fixed the AnyDVD problem but I'm not exactly sure what caused the NO DRIVE DETECTED message. I moved all my extra add on programs over to my spare HD. Then reformated C and reinstalled XP Home that came with this PC. After that was done I reloaded CloneDVD and AnyDVD and everything worked. No disabled drive message yet. I also have Windows update OFF right now. So the problem is either one of the auto updates or a conflict with one of my other programs. My guess is it was one of the Windows updates since the other programs have been on this PC since day one. As time permits I will add everything back onto C drive slowly and see if I can pinpoint the exact cause. I used XP Pro (SP1) on my old system for about 3 years with no problem. I just don't like the direction Billy Gates is heading with his system upgrades.
