hey guys i just encountered that DVD Shrink and AnyDVD or clone dvd cant handle THE DESCENT alone, you need to rip it with DVD Decrypter and then use VobBlanker to clean it up or it will continue to loop on the first preview or introduction . just thought i'd share this before you try to burn it on a disc lol i already have 2 taiyo Yuden coasters thanks to this movie trial and error lol.

Download Ripit4Me. You already have Shrink and Decrypter. It will add FixVTS during installation. Run RI4M and it should take care of your problems.

let us know what happens. another option might be to copy the main movie only. that has worked to circumvent the looping on several recent sony releases (all the king's men, etc.). most of us in the u.s.a. won't have "the descent" at least until the official release on tuesday, dec. 26.

Tried Ripit4me in both full DVD and movie only mode and it stops decrpyting after 1 percent. Have not tried AnyDVD or Fab yet.
Let me know what happens with both please.

Yeah I found this one tricky too! Using the most recent AnyDVD 6.0.9.9? Again, I uninstalled this time 6.0.9.9 & reinstalled 6.0.8.5 which decrypted this title 1st time no problem?

Same thing here, shrink would give the "out of memory" error at 41% even after ripping using the AnyDVD ripper, reinstalled 6.0.8.5 and re-ripped it with AnyDVD ripper and shrink opened it just fine...

Ripit4me 1.6.3.0 worked great for me both in full and movie+menus.

Yeah..the latest version of Ripit4Me worked fine on The Descent but it was the longest ripping time I've ever encountered with this prog. One hour and thirty-seven minutes using One-Click option(Nothing else running in the background) I think it had something like 157 "suspicious" sectors that had to be dealt with.

Guess I spoke too soon.. while downgrading allowed me to use shrink to open it, after burning it just loops the lionsgate intro over and over again.. guess i'll try somthing else... so much for the trusty AnyDVD.....

That's why I never upgrade my AnyDVD until it fails me. If it ain't broke then don't fix it.

Best of luck!!
Don't know why you guys are having issue with THE DESCENT, but I'm using FREE tools and everything worked like a charm. Easy, simple and fast as usual with DESCENT guide with DVDFab Decrypter & VobBlanker.
Best of luck!!
I think some of the movie studios are creating different copy protections on discs depending on how they are distributed.. as in Netflix, Movie Gallery, Blockbuster, Hollywood Video and general sell through items.. I have very rarely had any major problems.. the last issue I had was when they introduced arccos back in the "Hitch" days, this is the first major problem I have encountered since then (not a newbie)....I ran it through Vob Blanker and it's encoding now so we'll see how it goes.. first time i've had to use Vob Blanker in about 8 months, and I pick up pretty much anything new every week so i've used the AnyDVD/Shrink combo just fine for most of this year... it doesn't make sense why some experienced users have problems with the same titles others have no problems with....

@alkohol Yeah, I got it though, just a little adjusting. I try to avoid the 3 & 4 step decrypting software karate move to back up a single DVD. I have the freeware you used if I need to use it and honestly it's still less work for me and less time to uninstall an unstable AnyDVD update than to go through 3 or 4 freeware programs.:p

Tried ripping with AnyDVD ripper and running through Vob Blanker and had same problem.. Lionsgate intro still just looped over and over again, went ahead and grabbed the latest version of Ripit4me (used the Ripit4me installer to make sure it was installed properly)turned off AnyDVD and let Ripit do it's thing, ran through shrink and removed the commentary tracks and presto.... perfect working back up...
I'll be hanging on to this handy little freebie program.......

jhutchi63 the studios the big ones don't put special copy protection on the movies that go out to the big movie rental giants, netflix, blockbuster, and so on, also i hope that you are not saying that you are copying rentals,

weird everyone is having so much trouble with this one mine works fine and all i used was DVDFab Decrypter 3.0.5.0, Shrink, and DVD Decrypter to burn it. When playing it if i hit the DVD menu button it takes me back to the Lionsgate sequence but if i fastforward through it I get right to the menu screen.

I'm not talking about copying them, but the movies from Blockbuster and Netflix are the same as those you buy down at Wal Mart. At least the recent releases that I've noticed.

Actually I could give 2 sh*ts about people copying rentals, I have many customers at my store who copy the stuff they rent.. hell i'll give 'em tips on how to rip 'em or turn them on to software that will help 'em... to me it's no different than waiting to record them off of Pay-Per-View, Cable TV, or even recording your favorite TV show to archive off of braodcast TV... for me.. once they rent it i've made my money off of them so why do I care? There are those who want to build their libraries from buying new ore pre-viewed, and there are those who do it by copying them... makes no difference to me. They have been doing it for 22+ years i've been in the video business, it's a fact and as I said I really don't give a crap.
I only mentioned it becasue I remember reading in one of the "industry magazines (I think it was Video Business magazine) that one of the studios was putting a different type of copy protection on movies they were shipping to NetFlix.. something like that.. either they were trying to or they did.. can't quite remember.. that's the only reason I asked...
