Download SmitfraudFix.zip to your desktop -> http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Unzip it (folder named SmitFraudFix) to your desktop:
Open the folder SmitfraudFix and doubleclick smitfraudfix.cmd
Choose option #1 - Search by typing 1 and pressing "Enter"; a textfile opens and lists the infected files (if those exist)
Post the contents of this textfile to here.
(Some antiviruses recognises process.exe as a malware. It is not malware, it is a program that stops processes)

Restart your computer to the safemode -> http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml
When in safemode, open SmitfraudFix folder and doubleclick the file smitfraudfix.cmd
Choose option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and pressing "Enter" in order to remove the infected files.
You are asked: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove your desktop wallpaper and the infected registry keys.
The tool checks if wininet.dll file is infected. You might be asked to replace the infected .dll (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".
The tool might have to restart your computer; if it won't do it, restart your computer back to normal mode.
A textfile will appear after the cleaning process, copy this file and paste it to here.
Tha log is saved to your local diskdrive, usually C:\rapport.txt.
Warning : Running option 2 in a clean computer will delete your desktop wallpaper.
Send a fresh hijack log too

Hi,
First, may i say what a fine job you are doing. It must get boring answering the same question over and over again.
Just to add to your frustration with this subject, may i please add my own problem !!
I haven't got a clue how it came about, i was online earlier in the afternoon with zero probs, then my wife tried to go online later on, and as soon as she clicked I.E. she got the security site open instead of the homepage.
Sorry to disturb you, but could you please give me a nudge in the right direction. I hate to ask, but if there is something slightly different on my comp, i wont be able to follow previous instructions.

-> Open Ewido Anti-Spyware
-> Click the Update icon at the top of the window
-> Click the Start update button
-> Wait for the update to download and install
-> Quit the program, we'll use this later.
Open HijackThis "Open misc tools section " > "Delete file on reboot"
Navicate or copy and paste:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wincqt32.dll
Click ok. and let reboot happen.

Delete:

Find and delete:
wbsys.dll
chkntfs.dll
When in safemode, open SmitfraudFix folder and doubleclick the file smitfraudfix.cmd
Choose option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and pressing "Enter" in order to remove the infected files.
You are asked: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove your desktop wallpaper and the infected registry keys.
The tool checks if wininet.dll file is infected. You might be asked to replace the infected .dll (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".
The tool might have to restart your computer; if it won't do it, restart your computer back to normal mode.
A textfile will appear after the cleaning process, copy this file and paste it to here.
Tha log is saved to your local diskdrive, usually C:\rapport.txt.
Warning : Running option 2 in a clean computer will delete your desktop wallpaper.
Still in safemode
-> Open Ewido Anti-Spyware
-> Click the Scanner icon at the top of the window
-> Click the Settings tab then select Recommended Options and choose Quarantine
-> Click the Scan tab
-> Select Complete System Scan. The scanning begins.
-> When the scan has completed:
-> If infections were found you'll be prompted about what to do.
-> Please make sure that the Set all elements to is set to Quarantine (in downleft corner of the window)
-> Then press Apply all actions and answer yes to all if it asks about something
-> Click on the Save Scan Report button and save the scan to your Desktop.
-> Copy and paste the scan results into your next post-> Copy and paste the scan results into your next post
Boot comp and send afresh hijack log and rapport.txt.
Please note that your comp is not clean after those operations. !!

It seems to be fine, kudos to you.
do you know where it might have come from ? I did the usual dodgy sites when i first got the comp, but i've re-installed a couple of times since then, learning all the time. To my knowledge, i've not visited anywhere suspicious.
I cannot thank you enough, and shall have no hesitation to recommend your fast, freindly and effective help to anyone i know has problems.

Hi, update Ewido and follow previos instructions, then ewido should be remove that registry key :) Do scan IN SAFE MODE

Wow, Tapiiri, you are freaking awesome!!! I have read all of these pages and you are extremely kind in your help. If I may be so selfish as to ask a question.
I have the same problem, but I have Windows 64bit (I know, suprise). I can't find anything that i can use as a AV but avast. Ewido doesn't have a compatible version for 64bit from what I have been able to find.
I would have already followed your previous instructions to others, but it appears that that all have 32-bit windows. GRRRRRRRRRR
Anything help you can provide would be priceless.

I'm sorry, that I have not experience off 64 bit windows. I'l think that comp is server for some company, am I right ?
Probaply is better that we dont fix anything. Tell authorized person that something secret data may be stolen :( and there is Smithfraud virus.

It is ok.
It is WindowsXP 64-bit. It is my personal computer. I just used the 64-bit version because it is supposed to be faster. And it really was, alot faster. Until I recieved this annoying gift. I didn't really think that I had all that much to worry about, as the 32-bit virus' for the most part were not compatible on my 64-bit OS. I knew it would only be a matter of time though. LOL, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
But thank you very much. I will keep searching for help. I wish you the best, your help here is priceless. Keep up the good work friend.

Yes, it didn't work.
Have you tried smithfraudfix in safe mode?
Boot comp to safe mode and delete those:
C:\Program Files (x86)\IntCodec\ >>>isaddon.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SysWow64\ >>>viruxz.dll
Scan hijack and check:

Hi, sorry about the delay. I have my kids once a week and they run riot on the computer over fri night and sat !! I figured that if it was to come back, it would have done it with them !!!
Just to let you know, i found the cause (i think) of the re-occurance of purity scan on my comp.
It seemed to keep resurfacing every time i ran reg healer, i can only assume that it was somewhere in the reg healer logs/backups. As soon as i uninstalled reg healer and turned off system restore, then followed your instructions i was clear.
I have since re-installed reg healer and turned on system restore and have had absolutely no probs at all. *crosses fingers*
May i again take this chance to thank you for all your invaluable help, i couldn't have done it without you.

Yes, I did do the fraud fix in safe mode. I went and did it again, along with deleting the files. Only thing, is that I went to delete
C:\WINDOWS\SysWow64\ >>>viruxz.dll
and it wasn't there. I was able to delete the other file. I then ran smithfraud again. The home page part is gone, and the "system warning" is as well. But I am still getting that annoying pop up. My internet speed seems to have returned to its prior speed as well. Here is the new HJ file.
