what is the best software out there to upconvert my regular dvds to 1080i or 720p rather than buying a hd player i have conected my computer to my 65 inch mitsubishi diamond tv and up convert norbit 1080i with ulead video studio 11 quality was good but take a while to convert i need a software that can do that fast im using ati 2900xt when i convert norbit i get 20.1 gb

You can use your PC as an upconverting DVD player using FFDShow. There's no need to convert the DVD rip. Use FFDShow with MPC (or Zoom Player or Theater Tek) to output 720p or 1080i. Here's a tutorial/walkthrough:

The most important step here is to use the Resize & Aspect function in FFDShow to match the resolution of your HDTV.
