You first run the rev3 installer, then you run the downgrader. Both are run from the SD card. You also need internet access while running.

how do you run things from the sd card?

If I were you I would run the wiikey recovery disk, this will however recover you to 1.9b so you would then have to update your wiikey back to 1.9s

The Wii will never "read" the recovery disk. I'm not sure how it works, but it does...

After you run the recovery disk as the tut states, it still won't "read" the recovery disk. After you run recovery, pop in your 1.9s firmware, and update.

If you read my scenerio, I was having the exact same problem...my Wii wouldn't read disk. Use the recovery disk, and follow the instructions EXACTLY as they are in the tut. I tried it the first time, and didn't reset at the right time, or something I forget and it didn't work. I tried a 2nd time exactly as the instructions say, and it worked.

Has anyone ever had this problem using the downgrader??

I downgraded to 3.2U sucessfully using "cIOS_Downgrader_v1.1". I was freakin out a bit because it took a LONG time to do. I thought it froze or something. At the end I went back to the wii menu and checked to see if it actually did go to 3.2u. It did.

HOWEVER... No games would work. Real or burned!!!! "unable to read disc"
I freaked out and did the downgrade again but went back to 3.3u to see if that would fix it. Again, it took a long time but it completed sucessfully. Checked and it was in fact back to 3.3u. STILL DIDNT WORK THO!! "unable to read disc"

After a while trying to look on the internet for a solution I thought I'd try to see if I could boot a game in GeckoOS.
It worked!!!!
I went back to the menu and tried without GeckoOS and it worked again!!! I havent tried since, so I hope it still works.

Why did it do this? I'm afraid to try again downgrading to 3.2u. Maybe next time I wont get it to work again..

I'm using a Wiinja Deluxe chip.

EDIT: I looked on this thread last night when it happened and there was nothing about it. Just looked up one post and others are having that problem I see. lol I guess I should have looked again.
Is there something wrong with the downgrader now?
Or do I just need to use the recovery disk to get it to work.. where is this disc?

With all of the questions about where to find the IOS files would it be against the forum rules to post a SIMPLE guide on how to extract the WAD files from .ISO's? I can't see why it would be considering there are dvd ripping/creating guides as well as how to back-up games, etc, but I just wanted to check. Thanks. ---Chikn

Hi all,

Thanks for all of the very helpful information that people have supplied.

I've been throught the same trauma as most, in that I found myself with 3.3E and I could barely put a disc in without it saying DISC ERROR, BLAH BLAH every 2 minutes.

I also was completely unable to get my hands on IOS37-64-v2070.wad, but instead found that you can use PatchMii instead of the cIOS37_rev3-Installer. This can be found at http://www.wiibrew.org/w/images/f/fc/Cios_patchmii_installer-rev04.zip.

You don't need the .wad file at all with this.

I than executed cIOS_Downgrader_v1.1 as per the other method and it seemed to work.

Before this I had tried to install the HomeBrew .ISO DVD install method to no avail (Disc wasn't even recognised so I had to use Zelda), but after the downgrade it worked first time.

After about 6 hours of gameplay following the downgrade, I've had 2 occurrences of a disc read error, but simply ejecting and reinserting the disc solved it. Nothing like the trouble I was having.

Unless any experts know that this means it hasn't really worked or that there are other reasons why this shouldn't be tried, I'd say it's a good alternative to finding the IOS37-64-v2070.wad file.

According to WiiBrew it's apparently less dangerous.

I downgraded to 3.0E and my copy of Star Wars Force Unleashed raised it to 3.1E.

Hope this helps and thanks again.

Hope Waninkoko doesn't decide to abandon this project too, or all you that used the downgrader could find yourselves in 3.2 (or below) land forever. Its not an issue until Nintendo releases the next hot game that requires you to upgrade to 3.4

Tell me if I'm out of line here Mods. I haven't seen this info mentioned often, it seems to be a little taboo IMO. You can extract the IOS .wad files using Trucha signer or Wiibrowse. I'm sure there are other programs as well. Wiibrowse was easier for me. simply open the program, extract the wad you want to a folder. it will appear as "Filename.wad.wad". Where file name is the name of the wad you are extracting. Just remame the file to Filename.wad and you've got your .wad. You WILL NEED ckey.bin for either of these programs to work. ---Chikn

In principal I agree, but I have read that disc-based updates won't cause problems, as opposed to the Network updates (which is what caused my problems in the first place).

I don't know why this is currently the case, and of course, this could change?

Cheers

Using this with the Homebrew channel:

Make 2 folders inside the apps folder on your sd card.

Name 1 Custom Rev and the other Downgrader.

Place the cios37_rev3-installer.dol in the Custom rev folder and rename it boot.dol

Place the cIOS_Downgrader_v1.1.dol file in the downgrader folder and rename it boot.dol

Now copy the icon and meta file from another homebrew app folder, and paste them in each new folder you made.
Edit both meta files so that the one in downloader says "Wii downloader" and the one in custom rev says "Custom Rev RUNFIRST"

Now google:

IOS37-64-v2070.wad

And pick the first one.
Lrn2tornt.

Place the file into the ROOT of your sdcard (not in a folder).

Now put the sd card back into your wii, and run the homebrew channel.
Run the one that says Custom Rev run first.

When that's done, run the Downgrader, and pick your firmware version (probably 3.2 and whatever region your wii is).

U = USA
E = Europe
J = Japan
I've successfully installed the homebrew channel with the TP hack, but nothing shows up when I start the channel with the two folders and the wad file as described above. I've put the meta file and png image from the snes gx homebrew app and changed the name in each of the folder's meta files. I only get the bubbles !! Can someone point me in the right direction please ? I've changed the name in the <name> field in the meta file.

Thanks

My bad ! Forgot to read the part where it said to put the two folders in the apps folder ! None of the config discs are working after downgrading to 3.2E though...fucking weird

Thank god I found this thread. I need help everyone. My friend and I got into this homebrew scene to just be able to play this one game that requires 3.2U. I for one had no clue about this and installed 3.3U and got the homebrew channel as well. Followed by this we Installed the DVDX(2 something... I forget it was in the wii-iso loader leak zip) as well as the CIOS from the leaked iso loader zip.

My fears about downgrading to 3.2U:
The DVDX(249 something)
And the CIOS.was

I am freaking out about which steps to take. How does one proceed in downgrading their wii in this position. And also if I do downgrade will the homebrew channel be still accessible?

Is it manditory the downgrader get online? I installed IOS37-64-v2070.wad WHICH I have no idea what its for... and i got homebrew channel on my channel list.

So the main question is...Can i downgrade it to 3.2u to bring it bank to 3.3u? I am dieing to get back to my settings! I cant see it so blurry!!!! I need a lil HD! and wifi lol!

Thanks For taking the time to read and possibly help...

When you run the downgrader (after running one of the installers), you can pick a system version from any of the 3 regions (U, E or J), so the answer is yes!
