I don't have a modded box in any way shape or form but having read through this thread is it possible that Gears of War 2 was 'leaked' online rather quickly to possibley get people banned? Also, could be a straw clutcher, but how many peoples name in this forum are the same as their Gamertag? Could M$ be using comments made as justification to ban peoples accounts as it would seem that 'innocent' accounts have been suspended? Probably not but thought I'd chip in my 2 cents!

For your first part, I would think that yeah, I guess it is possible, but highly unlikely. It would require a lot more money and man hours to be spent, plus many other reasons listed on this forum and other forums that in the end, I do not think MS would actually take that route. Yes possible, but I doubt it. Keep in mind, that is just my opinion.
But that would also apply to the second part of your post. I would think that would be even more time consuming for MS to scorunge for forums in the hopes that they find pirates, and also hoping that their username is the same as their gamertag. I think for the limited number of people that they would be able to target and ban, it wouldn't be worth their money.
In the end, it's all my opinion, not fact. I think it could be possible, but do I think MS is doing it? Not at all.
One other thing I am interested in, is seeing, are people still getting banned, or has it pretty much just already hit everyone, and now we're looking for the reason?
I'm guessing it is already over with (minus the people who are going to be banned but just haven't signed into live), but I would be interested to hear what the other senior members think (or anyone with some good info on it).

My xbox was banned. If I use the account which I was usin on the banned xbox on a new console, will tht also b banned. (If left unmodded)

How will unplugging your consoles stop you from getting hit? Once you plug them back in wont you get hit then?

I only played backup of GOW2 on a new profile I made without signing on live. But I used my main xbox live account on release date to play on live. Did I lower my chance of being caught?
Im definately not signing on or even turning on my xbox until I hear word its okay to lol.

No, that didn't lower your chances in any way. It's the console getting banned, not accounts.
Honestly, I think if you're going to be banned, it doesn't matter if you plug in now or in a week. You might as well just login to live and see.
It's what I'm doing. If I am banned, then it would happen either today, or when I do it in a week. I would think this since it seems this round of bannings is NOT based on new detection methods (atleast this is our best guess so far according to c4eva).

Luckily im not banned yet, running a benq with ixtreme 1.4
ive been playing cod 5 all day,
unfortunately 2 of my friends are now banned.
one with hitachi 78 and one with ms25, both ixtreme 1.4
they have been playing cod5 and gears, b4 the release date and on live.

I agree.
It would be helpful though if people could give some info about their system or habits instead of just saying if they are banned or not. If that is against the forum rules then please ignore and edit my post to remove the bad info.
As of last night I wasn't banned.
I'm on ixtreme 1.4 12x T-S MS28
xbox silver account and the system goes online at least once a day.
The only new games played on that system have been
Lego Batman
Star Wars TFU
Dead Space
None were played before the release dates.
I've not played
GOW2
Fallout 3
Farcry 2
Fracture
or any seed4me's
Also my gf had a free month of gold when I created her GT for Lego Batman but that expired a month ago.

I'm not banned. Benq w/ ix14.1
I avoided those Seed4Me and any other "reivew" copies. Something didn't seems right to me about them not being able to sign in Live. I've played Spider-man Web of Shadows most recent and I played Gears 2 and Madden 09 on Live this weekend.

I know I have seen this question asked a couple of times but, havnt really seen an answer or opinion on it yet. If you do get your console banned and use your hard drive on a new console, will that one get banned as well. The hard drive is still going to have the same game info on it. And, when you go to retrieve your GT from XBL, it will all be the same. So is it even worth shelling out $$$ for a new system? A buddy of mine did that yesterday and so far he is good.

No they don't banned your console if using a hard drive from a banned console. They didn't do it on the last ban wave. The hard drive I'm using now is from my console that got banned last year.

It's been posted in this thread alone dozens of times.No you won't get banned it's a Console ban not a Gamertag ban.

That's a reasonable question. If they banned a console id for having a hdd with backup gamesave data on it then we could make an "assumption" that M$ isn't banning because of firmware detection but it would only be a guess. That would make sense for people who are claiming that their unmodded systems were/are banned if M$ is using hdd info and not dvd drive or motherboard info right?
[edit] Just saw the previous posts that claim to be using a last ban wave hdd. That shoots one theory out of the water.

One thing I would like to know, is is this a rolling ban, or has the hammer finished striking everyone (for this time around).
Can we get people to post that info? For example: if you got banned today, but haven't had your 360 on live for a week I guess let us know, but that doesn't help as much because you could have been waiting to be banned Monday.
But the question I want it, has anyone signed on live the past few days, and maybe hasn't been banned until today?
This would let us know if it is a rolling (on-going) ban hammer that is happening, or if it is over for now (most likely over until possibly the next wave if the dashboard update does it too).

I didnt even know about the ban till yesterday when my buddy got it. I have been able to sign in to XBL so far. I havn't been banned as of yet. I have been signing on daily at least to see if if I still can. The last time I tried signing on was this morning, still good.

Im curious to know if anyone ever UN MODDED thier system and NOT get modded. Theres no proof that hiding and updating will save you. I do recal hearing someone waited till an update was out and then when they updated they were still banned.

No it don't do no good to un mod your xbox,Once they get a red flag on ya, your toast it doesn't matter if it's a yr from now,When you decide to log back on.Thats why it does no Good to unplug your Xbox.
I would however like to know if there done banning,Iv'e made it threw ever ban so Far.(Knock on Wood)
I just don't know what there logging tho.I have played Gears of war 2 early,fallout 3,Saints Row 2,plus Call of Duty 5.I also did play the Seed for me release's.Played none online tho, but have connected other accounts online.
Just a thought I think they are logging when you try to connect with a Bad Game.Not playing the game itself.Whos Knows?

I'm not banned yet (checked 5 min ago).
Got a Toshiba-Samsung with what I suspect to be a Ixtreme 1.4 firmware.
The only games I have played since I have it are :
GTAIV
Naruto : Rise of a Ninja
Ninja Gaiden II
Battlefield Bad Company
Devil May Cry 4
Fable II
That's all.
Also, I'm not someone who plays online all the time; actually I've played online like 3 times in NRoaN, that's all.
I'll wait a good week before officially claim that I'm not banned though.

Yeha thats pretty much what they do, acording to the scene. Its a bit technical. SO for those hiding , no real point. Example: If you played the Fallout3/seed4me version off line your pretty safe, but if you played while ONLINE then it registers.
Im waiting for a good laugh for when some one says MS should be sued for acting like a bunch of gestapo satanist and logging our info.

I haven't been online for months and just flashed my drive but never really got any games to work so I haven't playing on line or back ups or early releases. So just to be safe I think I will restore and check if I still have account.

I have been playing both Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty 5 for over 2 weeks straight (GOF 2 almost 3 weeks) and have a NMEv2, I got banned yesterday 11/11/08 - damn - wish I had seen this earlier
