I would first just like to say that I am not new to PS2 game backup. I have had a flip-top for at least a good 6 months. First question I have is when I burn the Disc ID to a CD-R, when I load it on my PS2 I will be using my Swap Magic CD, correct? Second, I have already done this & it does not read my CD-R with the Disc ID on it. It trys to read it like a usual backup game but doesn't load at all. What could be the problem? When I load the CD-R should I do Normal or Specail(X button or [] button)? Lastly, what is the Disc ID Inserter? I have seen it mentioned in some forums but don't know what it is.

I just wanted to give you all an update. I got it to work. All I needed to do was just burn another copy. Then when I got to the Swap Magic CD screen I changed video mode to NTSC instead of Normal. It worked but I couldn't get the game to work after I patched & burned it. It was Killzone. I think some other people are complaining about the same game. It said it only had one DNAS file when I patched it. Is this how everyone else's is? Like it loads up until the main menu & freezes on the KILLZONE screen but loads so slow. Has anyone else got it to work? Like online & everything?

i am having the same problem with goldeneye, it only had one patch and the only difference between the patched game and the un patched game is error 864 (patched) and error 402 or sumthin like that (unpatched)... i noticed there is a fix for goldeneye on swapmagicfix.com... but i cant get that to work eithe. Am i suppose to do some other video mode or special boot? thanks...

What I'm thinking is that these online patched games are only working on some systems(maybe the problem?) Also, instead of posting in here(since this should be a tutorial not discussion of Killzone), post in my here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/142346 We should be abe to firgure this out somehow in there.

Hey gang, first time poster here. Not having A DVD burner and not being big enough gamer to justify buying one, this thread has my attention. I have made the ISO image using DVD Decrypter, but that's as far as I have gotten.

Is there anywhere or any links to obtain the Disc ID Utility or the Disc ID Insertor V2.01 besides PS2 Ownz? Their registration policies block all the email addresses I have (is it my fault if web-based, free ones are better that what my ISP gives me?)

It seems to me like if that's a forum there'd be another place to obtain those utilities so I could proceed with my process here, any help would be appreciated. The http://home.rochester.rr.com links no longer work, but something like that would be great!

I also have a question on Step 3)
"Now that your PS2 game back-up image is made, you'll need to download the GCC Disc ID Utility and burn it to a CDR as detailed HERE." - But the "HERE" is not a link, so where is it that details that process?

Hey sobhy2406

Any chance you can post the site that you got the tutorial from that has the working links? Like the ones that say "click here" and it's just text and the new rr.com links. I'm pretty sure I remember it was on ps2nfo but i can't seem to find it on there.

Thanks

Well I'd like to congratulate sobhy for his cut and paste job and somewhat taking credit for "his tutorial"
Aside from that, below is the link to the original ps2nfo tutorial that include working links and all. It has nothing to do with me, just that I finally found the page and wanted to share it with those who are still like me and having troubles getting started.

http://www.ps2nfo.com/on-line.html

Sorry for having to link to another site, but it just made sense since the originator copied the information anyway and those of us reading it couldn't use it properly.

Cheers,

Frizzo

Yo Frizzo, thanks for the post, but you are missing a crucial point. Many people, for their own good reasons, do NOT HAVE A PS2INFO LOGIN. Therefore parts of the article and all the utilities is says to download are not accessible. If you're going to link something link all of it. It's frustrating to not be able to get my hands on the tools to do this workaround.

hiya well image patcher is better 1.7 but some games u gotta patch ur self so u gotta use the Disc ID Insertor.. like on ghost recon 2.. when u trie 2 patch it wid image patcher it says error image.. so u gotta use Disc ID Insertor for this game.. say u cant patch a game wid image patcher all u do then is open up apache then open up the game image u wanna patch then on that game image there shud be a folder called IRX u open that up then u extract the file DNA$ then u open up the Disc ID Insertor and find that file u just extracted then u patch it then when uve done that u go bk to apache program and right click on the DNA$ file u just extracted then click update file then u find the file DNA$ u just patched and extracted b4 that and then it updates too that.. then u close the apache and ur ready 2 burn ur iso patched image game :)

I read on PS2NFO that all you need is the last 6 digits of the Disc ID but I'm not sure what to do with the first 4 because they are X'ed out. I think you are suppose to put in any random letters A-F and numbers 0-9. But I'm not sure? Can somone explain it to me :) Check this link out for the partial IDs: http://www.ps2nfo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25447

I hate the big videogame comapnies.
Those big videogame companies KILLED my father.
Well NOT really, but they HURT him pretty badly.

lol sort ur spelling out 1st :P and wot u just said is lack of $hit lol cos 1st u can put a copy patched game on a hardrive..say u make a back up of socom 2. if u use the same DNA$ from the orignal game they wudnt know cos there fink its a orignal game, but if u use like a diffrent game like ghost recon 2 DNA$ for another game like socom 2 then there know cos that DNA$ is for ghost recon 2, but its really unlikely that ur gonna get ur ip banned. theres millions of people doing it soo getting caught its like winning the lottery.. and plus it aint hard too change ur ip address it only takes couple of secs wid the pardox program.. ;)
