My question is: Has anyone tried the NTSC-J version of HD Loader on an unmodded JPS2? Better yet, is there an mc exploit version of the Japanese version? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Grrr.

And I was reading and I got to page 2 but then I stopped reading what exactly does HDLoader do? and does anyone know if I can use that same Hard Drive on my computer and put saves in it and then put it on my PS2. Please im in need!

at last... Using HDL_DUMP 0.3
1. Install HDL_Dump onto your pc
2. Stick the PS2 hdd in the pc
3. Shove in a backup game
4. Give the game a name
5. Use the signature SCES_503.60
6. Wait 10 mins while it copies it across
7. Shove hdd back in ps2
8. Boot HD Loader using SwapMagic
9. Select the game
10.Play!

Cool - anyone tried this (HDL_DUMP) with an IDE HD in an external case? I've got a 40GB Maxtor that doesn't seem to want to play ball with HDLoader (Ownz) and my Messiah 2 chip.
I have an external USB 2.0 / Firewire casing (and I've managed to format the drive with HDLoader) for use with my laptop - will HDL_DUMP (or HDL_DUMB for that matter) see the drive?
Guess I'll try it when I get home, but I'm sooo impatient!

well basicaly i formatted an ibm 120gb in the ps2 using hdloader, then took it out, stuck it in my external usb2 box and installed a few games from dvdr using HDL_DUMP. Then i put the hdd back into the ps2 and it worked a treat.

Will I still need a memory card to save games once I get HD Loader? Or will the hard drive act as a memory card?

I was just wondering where you guys ordered your HD Loader disc from. I ordered from ConsoleSource.com and they still haven't shipped it out. I ordered last Friday. Is there any better sites to order from? I'm in the USA.

rmanzur,
The site is located in Hong Kong. Was the shipping fast or did it take a long time?

You would need a mod chip if you were going to back up games on dvd-r or cd-r, but with the HD loader and a HDD you can back up your PS2 games to the HDD
