Hey guys,
Thanks for the great guide with the visuals. I encountered a problem though. My psp is on firmware 3.71 M33 and when I reach the step of running the pandora installer on the psp, it gives me an error saying "the game could not be started (80020148)" What should I do? I'm 99% sure I followed the rest of the steps before it correctly -.-

What are you using to run tool? FAT or SLIM? most SLIM will no longer run the battery tool to enable and or return to normal mode. You either need an early SLIM or any FAT on CFW to enable it so you can use the enabled battery in your SLIM (if thats the case).

This should be edited into the beginning of the instructions but it's not. Or I missed it, If OI did, sorry. I knwo for sure back in Feb it was not in any of the 3 popular treads here on AD so I had to figure it out muself. But luckly I still have homebrewed FAT.

Sony PSP/PS3,
ASUS RAMPAGE II EXTREME(X58) w/ i7 930 DO @ 4.305GHz (205x21 @ 1.323v) 2:8 DDR1680 @ 6-6-6-18

Here's the best option:
Google it or search it on AfterDawn!

I;ve been googling it for days now. Im finding conflicting answers. Why not instead of typing negative stuff. You could have just gave me a link or told me the answers in those two sentences

I am just curious why some of the regulars or more experienced can't simply answer a simple request, especially if you know the answer. I know sometimes or often it is in the tread, omewhere barried a few hundreds or thousands + post and a year + back or so. Yet somebody who actually knows finds it more productive to spend the efforts posting only to not answer and tell them to look. Especially if they were the one to answer the 1st time. I mean how hard is it to copy and paste a link. Or a PM. You know, the "I know, but I'm not sharing" Cause maybe thay can't stand that they didn't get their answer so easy and helpfull.

I totally understand about the few that might be lazy or the space. So why not a PM? Besides, I see so many who waste more time or tread space telling a noob "I know the answer but I'm not telling". Try to remember back when we were noobs and were in need of help. Ja! How soon we forget.

My Two Cents!

Thanks for the awesome guide, although I think you should add one thing that would help a lot of people.

You must do the formatting on Windows XP. Vista WILL NOT work.

I tried the procedures out on two different Vista computers and it didn't work. When I did it on an XP computer, it did.

So, for all the people that put the memory stick and pandora battery into the PSP and it doesn't work, and only the power light comes on, this is why. You can make the pandora battery with Vista, but you can't format the MS correctly. Hope this helps.

Hey all! Sorry in advance if this question was already answered, but I've been reading around for a couple hours, and can't figure it out. A few months ago I hard modded my battery, downgraded my psp, and then upgraded to m33, which worked beautifully. I was even careful enough not to break the leg off the circuit board on the battery, so I was able to press it back down and use my battery as normal. I even unbricked, and downgraded a couple friends psp's, all without incident. Now, a few months later, I'm trying to use the same method, and it doesn't seem to be working. I have all the correct data on the memstick, battery is hard modded (Though this time I broke the leg off on accident :-/) but when I put the battery and mem stick into the psp I'm trying to downgrade, the power light comes on, and the screen just stays black. I tried a few different ways of doing the jigstick, yet to no avail. Any ideas?

Edit: Forgot to mention that the power light stays green indeffinetly. Oh, and the psp I'm downgrading is a psp fat, 1000 series, same kind I've downgraded many times. I'd soft mod a different battery, except I'm scared taht I might not be able to make it work again, which normally wouldn't be a problem, but this psp is for a friends brother's birthday, and he wanted it all spiffy before he gave it to him lol.

Another update: I tried a different pandora memstick, and now it works in my psp, but not in the other. Both psp's are the same model, and everything. Now, when I insert the memstick and hard mod battery into the psp I'm trying to down grade, all three lights on the psp light up for about 10 seconds, then turn off. And that's where I'm at now lol.

I did the soft mod w/ my FAT after spending a few hours to discover I couldnot return my new SLIM to normal. No prob I used my FAT and good to go.

Now I want to do my brother in laws new SLIM. My question is, when I made my magic stick, I kept it as is and just stored, but retuned BAT to service mode w/ FAT. I was later told I should have backed up eprom or something before going further. Of corse it worked, but I need to be sure it will work again. So do I look for the 1st saved eprom file to my card and save it to CD, or is it cool to just run the tool and save as current Is it the same anyways since I flashed it back w/ the same card? Where is the file located on the magic stick? Should I go back the old one up just to be safe and still save current battery state?

Thankx.

edt. shit wait i do need a cfw psp to make this in the first place? then so ..... is there anyway to make a recoverable pandoras battery without having custom firmware

i have one battery and 2 mem sticks one 2 gig and other 32 megs and my psp isnt a cfw and i dont know anyone who has one but i dont want to ruin my battery or buy a new one so what are my options?

edt. again....
ok so i guess to summerize what im asking. is there anyway to softmod make a pandora battery without already having CFW on my psp
