is this because of copyright protection, how do i bypass it?

Is the disc a cd-rom? You could try another program. Burnatonce is suggested because it is free. However, any program that will create an iso or bin/cue files from a cd-rom will do the job.

Did you try another program like Alcohol 120% or cdrwin? The pal2ntsc program accepts either .iso or .bin files. Try another program that can create either .iso or .bin files of cd-rom discs. Then, try to patch it. If that still doesn't work, it's probably a game that can't be patched and I'll add it to the list of non-compatible games that are in my first post. What game is it, by the way?

it is k-1 dynamite 2004 (ntsc-j), i bought it and tried the usual swapping routine with swap magic 3.0 the game menu ran but the gameplay didnt, so i created an iso. burnt it to another cd, that didnt work either with the same thing happening. so do you think i need swap magic 3.3?

This topic thread is about patching games from PAL to NTSC. Japanese games are already in NTSC format.
I'm don't know a lot about swap magic. Try searching the forums for help or create a new topic in the ps2 general discussion forum.

Hey people.
I just bought ESPN NBA 2k5 from overseas and I was wondering if anyone can help me convert it from NTSC to PAL if that is possible?
Or can I just fix the alignment on the NTSC? My TV supports NTSC but it isn't centered, it goes towards the left and cuts off some of the side and on the right there is just black.
So if someone can help me convert it too PAL, or just fixed the alignment for my TV, I will appreicate it heaps.

1)Download adr patcher at:
utilities.psxforum.com/adr_patcher0_5.zip
2)Unzip the file and run adr_patcher.exe
3)Click browse and select the iso file of the game
7)Select .PS2 NTSC -> PAL PATCH ROUTINE (NO Y POS)
8)Select Begin Search.
9)The program will search for locations to patch the game. When it finishes, patch the file.
10)Run DVD Decrypter again and choose ISO-->Write and burn the patched iso file.
If that doesn't work, the PAL release of the game will be released 1/14/2005

Sorry for the noob question, but what happens after you make the iso, patch it and burn it to a DVD-R? Does the PS2 read the burned disc, or do you need to do something else? I really don't want to modchip my system, as there is only one PAL game I'm actually trying to do this with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

visualxp,
The game does not run slower, the only thing that changes is how the game is displayed on your tv.
obwan,
PS2's wont be able to play games from other regions. If you really want to play the game, get your ps2 modded. If you don't know how to install a modchip, you can send your ps2 to installers that will do it for you. Or, you can just buy a new ps2 with a modchip installed. I would recommend www.xmodd.com for either service.
If you don't want to mod your console, you could buy a PAL console and hook it up to a multistandard tv.

I couldn't get my patched version of Colin McRae Rally 2005 to even boot. That particular series has had problems in the past. Colin McRae Rally 04 was also known not to be compatible with the program.
All of the games that I have successfully patched, have worked at full speed.
Some games are messed up like The Getaway: Black Monday. The audio and video are not in sync, but from my experience, all successfully patched games will run at full speed.

That hasn't been my experience. I don't know if it could be the chip they are using. I'm using a dms3 on a v9. I have some games where I have both the PAL and NTSC releases (Second Sight, Van Helsing, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, among others). When I compare the speed of the games, I find that the NTSC releases and the patched PAL releases run at the same speed.
Have you have any patched games to work at the right speed? Are you burning at 1x to professional grade media? What chip are you using?

Hi I'm new to the forum. thanks for the pal2ntsc utility. I patched pro evolution soccer 4 but the screen is a couple inches too high (using the offset of 48). what offset should I use to bring it down so i can center it? it was still a little too high even after using the screen adjust option in the game.
any help is appreciated!

hey i just downloaded the ps2 pal2ntsc yfix.
it says to browsw for a ps2 image, which for my Killzone is an iso image. after i select it i do not see an option where u can change the Y offset. The onli things i see are the PATCH, restore, and the pin.
does this effect anything else besides centering the game. it didnt seem to wrk when i booted it up. after using swap magic cd, it read it fine then it just stays at a black screen forever. ne suggestions???
Danny.
