I am about to buy the wiikey for my wii, but I have no soldering experience and hope its easy... I think I will do some test before actual soldering the wires to it. The question that I have is that I have a xbox 360 too and want to know an external Dvd burner DL should I get to make back ups for my games. Thanks you

Hi Everyone...

I am about to buy wiikey.

But need to make sure if Wiikey can play Japanese Verion of Wii Game.

Did anyone try with Import Japanese wii game?

Oh, and is this http://www.wiikey.cn/ Official site of the wiikey?

Thank you..

Which image do i use "Setup disc v1.1 US NTSC (no GC joypad required, toggle settings with reset)" or the "Setup disc v1.0 US NTSC (requires GC joypad)"?

I never used a setup disk after installing my wiikey. I dont even know what they are for. Maby to play PAL games but my NTSC wii plays NTSC backups fine without using any setup disk.

So all you did was install the chip and directly played your backups? No dash board required or firmware upgrade or flash required?

Nope, installed, hooked it up while it was still apart. Put in my backups, everyone loaded. I really wanted to test it out with call of duty 3 as with my cyclowiz, the first chip I had. It wouldnt work with cod3 at all. Popped it in after madden and it loaded. Started the actual game to see if it would load and bam. Started up fine.

Can anyone shed light on the Wiikey enabling PAL Wii consoles to play NTSC-US games? I've read around and I get the impression that US consoles can/would be able to play more UK/EU games than UK/EU consoles would be able to play US games.

When the cyclowiz specs says Does NOT Run Wii Homebrew that is only because there is yet to be homebrew for the Wii.

It can run GC Homebrew.

And when it says able to run backups it means it can run backups youve made of games you 'own' :)

However, here is the problem. When I play my original game (such as wii sport), the system runs quite normal without much loud noise or vibration. When I play backup game such as Red Steel or Zelda, the system runs much louder and vibrate a lot more.

Anyone experience this problem with wiikey or other mod-chip?

Is it a bad installation or this is something you would expect with mod-chip?

Please share your experience and your feedback.
Probably not a bad install. I've heard of this problem happening a lot with the Wiikey. I wouldn't go taring through my system yet. What media are you using for your burns? What software? You should be using some TY's or verbatims or other high quality media (you'll SAVE money in the long run). Try burning with the free software IMGBurn. Remember that we're not living in the year 2000 anymore, dyes are much different today. Burning high speed media at slower speeds will give you poorer results. When people increased their burn speed a lot of these problems went away. See if that helps, reply back!

NTSC USA systems will play most NTSC Japan games, although there are some games which the cutscenes will not work, but the games will play, and there are some games which will not work at all. Heres a good link:

Yes I highly recommend it.

I grabbed mine from http://www.americanxboxmodchips.com/wiikey.htm

I got a real chip from them no clone. You must be careful where you buy the wiikey from, like this joker posting about the 10.99 non clone wiikeys... him and his site would be a place id avoid... but thats just me :)
