Well, here it is the 8th of May, and the dvdfab website has not changed. Still saying "buy b4 the 8th b4 prices go up" and only the old prices still show up.
As of update writing, nothing new at the dvdfab site.

That's a little greedy IMO, maybe this will encourage another developer to bring out a plain old ripper.

Guys,
You still can get the free DVDfab HD Decrypter in version 5. One of the things that Fengtao did was combine all 3 versions into 1 download.
If you download the trial version for version 5.0.2.0 and install it, when you run it it will ask you which version you want to run and HD Decrypter is one of the options. I suppose once the 30 day trial period expires it will automatically revert to the HD version.

Me too ( I bought b4 5/08) ^^^^^^^^^^^^
My mistake friends, yearly renewal fee is 80% off current (will be) price or 20% of price. At current prices, yearly renewal will be $10 or is it euros (this was not clear on theit website)
Apologies

Believe it or not, I like the write capability of the new DVD Fab Platinum more than ImgBurn. ImgBurn would stop in the middle of the burn and let my disc spin endlessly (an eventual coaster) but using the same media and the same backed up material on the same computer, DVDFab always produced a 100% completely great burn. So far I had wasted at least 10 coasters (SONY brand) using ImgBurn vs none with DVDFab Platinum. I know everybody loves and swears by ImgBurn but I had nothing but bad luck with this app :(
And other features that let you customize your rip: pick and choose chapters, manually split your backup material, etc... The automatic split does not work too well though (disc 2 always got messed up for some reasons) but overall, it is a very user-friendly piece of software.

I wanted to make sure i got the free lifetime updates also i was/I'm paranoid about the free version being pulled now or sometime in the future but who knows lol.and i liked the moblie option (I-Pod) plus i can backup console games too!! so i thought it was well worth the 50.00 dollars, I think most would agree

That's pretty much the same reasoning i had behind purchasing Platinum. I wanted the lifetime updates, i may use the mobile option once in a while for my Zune too.
I wasn't sure whether or not the free version would stick around or not. And frankly, i felt it was time to give back a little.
As Zoso said...well worth the $50.00.

born2ride...
Sad you couldn't buy before it began carrying a yearly renewal fee. I was glad to have picked it up before then.
But you got AnyDvd before the price hike, right?
Maybe you're brother will let you rip a few on DvdFab Platinum. :D

Unfortunately I've already bought AnyDVD and don't see a need for two pay programs that really do the same thing...I've been using the free DVDFab HD Decrypter for over a year now, leaving AnyDVD to collect dust so if the free version falls to the wayside I'll just fall back on AnyDVD.
I have both. AnyDVD/CloneDVD is far superior, but the A/C combo is twice as expensive as Fab Platinum. I bought Fab first. I use A/C almost 100% of the time, but I'm glad I have both. There have been times, not often, that each will rip dvds the other just will not. Having both is a real sanity check. Depends on how much ripping you do, I guess. If you're seriously into it, having both is not excessive.

Couldn't agree more on this one. Every now and again you get something picky and having a variety of apps around is like having plenty of tools in the toolbox. I have quite a few programs around as well. None of them sit dormant for very long.
