No one would have never thought of that, eh? ;)
I posted the news because there will be some who download it and try to play it online. They don't know better.

I hear ya.
It'll be interesting to see if there's another wave of bannings. There was for Halo 3 and CoD4.

Heck ya... it's right after a big release. They give the people a little taste and then cut them off. While everone who's playing backups and gets banned won't run out and buy a new console and/or original game... some will. GTA4 is going to be huge.
Maybe that helps explain why MS bans in waves, if in fact that's what they do. It helps drive up sales.
If they had a ban wave, say for example when Blacksite: Area 51 was released, do you think they would have seen a rush of modders running out to purchase originals? They wouldn't... all it'd do is give the hackers time to try and figure out how to patch and release new firmware.
But, if the ban hammer falls soon after the release of GTA4, well that's a different story.

For those that have it is there anything unusual about the game besides MS watching for people trying to play it online early.I was wondering has anybody looked at the contents inside to see if there is anything different than what we have seen so far.I agree this is a must have game,so this would be a perfect time for MS to release a ton of bans.

Very true indeed.
As much as Microsoft drops the ball, they are smart when it comes to some things.

Just read this on xbox scene:
Quote: Microsoft on GTA IV Leak: 'Need to Look into this Further'
>> With the leak of the PAL version of GTA IV yesterday and the NTSC/U earlier today, here's what Major Nelson told kotaku.com:
[QUOTE]
A peek at Gamercard aggregator MyGamerCard.com reveals a long list of Xbox 360 users already racking up achievements on Grand Theft Auto IV since an illegal torrent of the game was leaked yesterday and early copies started showing up in people's homes.
Neither Rockstar nor Microsoft itself have yet responded to Kotaku's requests for comment.
Xbox Live's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, did say, however, that he was unable to comment yet due to the "need to look into this further," so we can assume that Microsoft, at least, is investigating.

This maybe a noobish question but gotta ask it: If I unplug the ethernet cable till release day and then go online after, won't they be able to tell I've been playing it before it was released? I'm thinking about removing my harddrive just to be really safe. Good idea or overkill?

Best bet is to setup a new non-xbox live account, keep the system offline and play away on that account until Tuesday then delete the account and go and play it on your live account. You will be fine online after Tuesday as the Pal one is stealth ok. It just means that everything from now till Tuesday will be wasted but its worth it as lets face it this is a game that you wont complain about playing over again, well the start at least.

Hi,
As mentioned in the other thread (closed and redirected here), many people, myself included, are having problem playing gta4 on a benq drive. I am using iXtreme v1.4-12x (yes, 12x) and having some god awful lag when loading textures. It is a huge problem, because during a mission high speed chase I sometimes hit an 'invisible' obstacle.
Anyway, I'm using Verbatim dvds recorded at various speeds (2,4 - 4) using ImgBurn. Tonight I'll try to use different dvds but I doubt that will help.
Does everyone with a benq drive have the same problem ? Any solutions found?

I also have ixtreme firmware 1.4. I use platinum dvd's and burn with 2.4x. never had problems. I use imgburn. I'm using the pal version. I hope soon wil found a solution.
