The term "Bow Wow" I think was first used by Snoop Dogg in his 1993 hit "Who Am I (What's My Name)?" off his classic debut album Doggystyle. And in 2001 Lil Bow Wow (now just Bow Wow) came out and popularises the thrase again.

nice sig - i loved mobb deep up until murda muzic. after that i never could get into them. their first two albums are classic though. during the early ninetys late ninetys new york era. fresh!
and eightball and mjg are nice, always come with it. 'on top of the world' is a solid album
