Hi Bassy
What make is your modem? The green light at the bottom of Azureus lets you know that your connectted to the DISTRIBUTED DATABASE and how many users are online

HI J-kwon,

Impressive BT guide I must say. I have been intensively searching for ways to up my DL speed and this is the best I've come across. Private trackers really meant hell lot of diffrence! Thanks for letting me, or rather people like me know.

Please do give me a pointer or two on my download speed if you can. Thks very much.

Im running on a toshiba centrino 1.6, which comes with a SP2. Belkin wireless router. Cable connection download speeds of up to 2Mbps (2,000Kbps) and upload speeds of up to 256Kbps (at least thats what my ISP says...)

Using Azureus as client, and opening port 65535 (previously using 16681). No NAT errors. Got Static IP and Port forwarded. All firewalls diasble. Stealth is ok. I got "OPEN" and
"FAILED". Downloaded the ILlord's patch alreday. I think it sort of change connection limit to 50.

I tried on a popular torrent from Bitsoup. and this is the result.
98 connected seeeds, 164 in swamp. 2 peers connected, 4 in swamp. swamp speed is about 430.

After connecting for 40mins, my download speed is between 10-40, which i think might be something wrong.

This is my Transfer configuration:

global max upload speed: 25
global max download speed: 0
default max upload slots per torrent: 4
maximum number of connections per torrent: 102
maximum number of connections globally: 256

I followed this config based on Azureus website.

It seems to me I had done everything. PLease do point out my mistake if u can. DO reply if u need further info.

Apart from a big thank you, thats perhaps the only thing most of us can say!

Chieng! Your multi-posting is starting to to pi$$ me off really badly!

EDIT next time don't carry on posting one line sentences!

Also about 4 people told you to mount the image, you only thanked one

I know your grammar might not be perfect but theres no excuse for endless posts after each other

Anyways

@ Berty, you need to open both TCP and UDP

@Boody the ports you want should all be open, not failed or stealth.

MMMM try a couple of different torrents, you seem to have done everything. was 40 your overall download speed (how many torrents were you downloading?)

:) Chieng i would reccomend stoping multiposting or you will be history
:)

Thnks for the reply. My grammatical error. What I meant was the result for the test came out as "open", juz as ur guide says should be.

What about the configuration? any comments? and the speed is consider slow isnt it?

sorry kwon,

one thing i really need some help. I went to shields up to run the test, the port is open, exactly like what u said it should be. i use Azureus internal NAT check, port status is OK also. I have green icons all the time.

But when I use the link <http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl> to check, my results came back

"Attempting connect to: 202.156.6.84 port 65535
Fail!
Unable to connect. This likely means you need to adjust your port forwarding configuration, or there is no client running on that port."

One thing I notice, when at shields up result page, it shows "it says Your computer at IP:

202.156.35.131

Is now being examined:

the IP address is different from the one I had in bold above. Should it be the same? I use portforward.com to setup my router. It was a step-by-step guide. So I dun think I did anything wrong there.

Advice please. Thanks so much./

hey im using D-link DSL-302G modem which is belive is not a router (correct me if im wrong). this modem is shit by the way if uve never used it. it doesnt have port forwarding options in the cofig page. i have read some guides and i have cofigured the nat setting so ive aloud nat to let thru the port im using and i didnt like Azureus its drains to much cpu so im using bit tornado and my ports are being detected as stealth when i do the test. and im still gettin a yellow light at the top of bit tornado. ive got all firewalls turned off so no point suggesting that im using pc cillin but the firewall is disabled and i currently have no service packs on my pc as its stuffed ne ways atm and needs reformating but im tryna figure this torrent thing out before i reformat. how do i make my torrents appear as open not stealth and my speeds such im d'ling a torrent with 48 seeds and 42 leaches and im getin a faster upload than download speed and my upload 64k so that tells u how slow im downloading at

Very impressive guide. Thanks for the tips.

I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I?m using Azareus, and am directly connected to a ADSL modem ? no router. However, I generally can?t get speeds higher than 20-25, usually no higher than 10.

I also have Norton running on my laptop.

I have an 80 kbps upload max speed, unlimited download speed.

I?m using a high port number and am able to get green smiley faces. When I try the NAT test from Azareus, it works ? I get an OK.

Is there any way to get higher speeds?

jproy- I would defintely shut down Norton.

also shut down anything that is using bandwidth and go to broadband reports and run a speed test. I myself am on cable and get speeds anywhere between 10 and 60 kbps, depending on the time of day and what else im doing on the computer. for dsl however your speeds shoudlnt fluxuate as much as mine. let me know what your speed test results are I may be able to help you further.

Arcane, Thanks for the reply.

According to broadband reports, I'm getting at least 400kbps down and 96 up. I've run the test a few times and have seen a range of between 390 and 650 kbps down. It's most consistently around 400, though.

Any help would be appreciated. I'd love to get Azareus to around 100 down, if possible.

alrite well with those type of speeds that looks like it might be highly unlikely to get 100 Kbs. I range anywhere from 1200 to 2500 kbps on a speed test.

So first thing your gonna wanna do is tweak your computer and try and get your internet to run a bit faster.

Check out Tweakguides.com, they have a good 160pg windows xp tweak guide. as well i would suggest if you have SP2 on XP that you head on over to lvllord.de and download the latest Event Id, i believe its 2.23, anyways this will change the max TCP/IP connections in xp from 10 to 50, which should also allow you to speed up your torrents.

if you have a router, make sure its portforwarded. go to port-forward.com to get instructions for your router and your torrent dl'er.

also it wouldnt hurt to run the broadbandreports.com tweak test and see what it has to say. maybe increasing your Recieve window or your Max MTU might help a bit.

Good Luck

400kbps is absolutely not going to get you 100 KB/s+ on your torrents. 400 kb/s = 20 KB/s.

Does anyone know the best site for 700 mb HDTV rips of new episodes of tv shows. I'm watching on a 46'' HDTV so AVI files of 350 megs don't really cut it.
Cheers,

Craig id suggest searching Torrentz.com or Torrentreactor and seeing what they've got listed. also check VCDquality.com to read reviews on specific rips

I have no problem connecting to Bitsoup.org. Are you trying to load up one of the other bitsoup's?
