***** Version Update Available *****
Version 0.62 is now available from the download site.
Changes as follows:
Gold Bundle is now supported. (Many thanks danger1 for your info)
Fixed Minor bug in Manual Search. Now it works ok. If the prog cannot determine from the registy where the backup is then Manual search is invoked.
Also removed the the "This Prog is for Xcopy XPRess warning... Non XPress owners beware - This WILL not work on the Straight XCopy!!!.
Note: after doing the manual search once provided you do not change the temporary directory in Xpress the program will not ask you to manually search again. It will pick up the files automatically.
I think this will cure all temporary file location problems.
Of course as always, read the readme in the zip.
Stunn611:
There was a minor bug in the Manual Search invokation, and hence the "This program is for XCopy Xpress" warning and Exit. Sorry and thanks for finding it for me :o)

Psi

OK.
1: Multi Language DVD's try it in your DVD player and see if you can change the language.
2: Advanced mode in Platinum = DVD XCopy. = Not Supported. Use Simple Mode!!!
3: The errors you mention in previous posts are strange. The only way the prog will exit without telling you Intro removed is if the VIDEO_TS.IFO is not made by any Xpress version I have seen. Are you sure you are using Xpress??????

Psi

Hey PsiDoc,
I have run across 3 or 4 DVDs out of the 30 or so that I have copied and after the discs are cached to the hard drive and I insert a blank, I get the error "error writing disk". I am now trying to use dvdshrink to see if I have any better luck. I tried 3 different burners and they all give me the same results.
If anyone wants to try burning these movies, see what results you get.

Hey psidoc, tried your kungfu, worked great! Now riddle me this Batman. Just suppose for what ever reason, someone wanted to substitute their own intro, or warning page, or whatever for the 321 page. Ever thought of a few lines of code to modify your 321gone to simply choose a 720 x 480 graphic from a chosen directory, and have it appear instead of the 321page? Beats the hell out of a whole reauthoring setup for just one graphic or even a short 10 to 20 second animated intro in place of the 321 page. Just thought I'd ask.

Just burnt my first movie with 321GONE. Copied the movie to my hard drive and then I ran the program. It said "remove 321 screen" or something like that. Then I proceeded to burn the movie and I still ended up getting their screen on the disc. Is there specific folders each program need to be in. Not for sure what I did wrong?

All:
Thanks for your votes of thanks. It'sa nice to be appreciated :o)
stunn611:
The entire DVD structure is recreated in entire disc mode, so there is in effect no way to get rid of all the superfluous languages in Xpress.
If you wanted to rip all the other languages you would need to use something like DVD Shrink, which is defeating the object of the exercise anyway :o(
Simplicity is the Idea behind XPress. (I am all in favour of the K.I.S.S. principle - Which is why I like it!!).
McMorris:
Cheers :o) RE: Your own intros, I have no Idea. I just "reverse engineer" to remove the annoying bit that 321 insist on adding, now if I could get the source for XPress... lol That'll never happen!!
odious: With Pirates of the Carribbean etc I believe that an update of the Xpress soft is needed. Maybe uninstalling and Re-Installing may help with the (Somewhat Obscure) Patin Couffin Engine burning system that Xpress uses.
With the BACKUP screen still being there this means it's a multi language DVD. I am still working on this problem.

RE: Watermarking
I have been looking into this this evening as I am getting some requests about this. 321 Studios apparently copy protect the backup, I however have not found this to be a problem I have backed up a few of my backups with Nero6 and Alcohol 120% with no trouble whatsoever. They do however watermark the disk with your licence number. If needed over the weekend I can write in a subroutine to remove the licence number watermark??
Up to you guys and gals.

OK what version of Xpress are you using? I recommend getting 3.2.1 it has a lot of updates over the previous versions. It's available to download from 321's FTP site.

I have 3.2.1. I would assume, that update would fix everything. I will uninstall and get it from them I guess. Not for sure what the difference will be, but I will check it out.

Another weird DVD I just tried burning was "Open Range". It goes all the way up through the title screen just fine, and then the DVD speeds up and starts forward queing all the way through the movie. Oh Boy.

Have you tried the XCopy support forum??
http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/ I am at a loss to what's going on there. It's obviously a problem on the burning side of things. Other than that... ???

Good morning PsiDoc,
RE: 321 Gone Icon
I was trying to profile your personality and get a feel for what would make you feel good for an Icon. My thoughts are nothing gaudy, but directly related (?stay focused?). What are your (and anyone else?s) thoughts about a heavy line trace of an umpires hand with the ?Your Kicked Out Of The Game? thumb pointing to the right (make it & look at your hand then imagine), with on the left side a proportional line weight ?3?, over ?2?, and right ?1?? Hope I described it ok? one picture would be worth all the above words, BUT?
Everyone Else,
Has anyone have a review (of their personal experence) for the software ?DVD Wizzard Pro?, my investigation shows favor for a try? Please reply to save me $39.99 US?
Bass Wishes,
GoFish

I am having to get outside help on this and I am currently waiting on some answers to a few questions.
All I can say is please be patient.
Everyone including myself are eager to get this out of the beta stage. However without the correct info disastrous results can ensue. The last thing I want is to trash the DVD you are backing up due to incorect patching.
