Hey guys, I've been running round internet forums researching for a while now and I'm still struggling! I'm trying to make a backup at the moment but both xbox backup creator v2.5 and imgburn 2.3.2.0 both give up on me half way through...
1. I made my game dump using xbox backup creator then used the "security sector" option to make a bin file.
2. I then opened the two files in NME 360 associator under the "merge" tab and merged the two ready to burn.
3. I have tried burning these with both imgburn and xbox baxkup creator and when they reach aroud the 50% mark then give up, the burn doesn't actually fail or cancel... but instead the writer just stops burning, now I'm thinking this is something to do with it not knowing it needs to change layers on the DVD from what I have read but how can I resolve this? I read something about the booktype but I don't know how to change it or what to?
When I tried with imgburn I set the layer break to 1913760 as I was instructed on the NME site before burning
The hardware/software I have is:
Xeno 360 chipped XBOX 360
Acer laptop using a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K14RA 1.00 drive
TSSTcorp DVD-ROM SH-D162C TS04 drive flashed with Kreon firmware V0.81 which is external for use with my laptop
Verb DVD+R DL x2.4 discs
Xbox backup creator v2.5 build 0230
NME 360 associator 0.3b
I also have Schtrom360XtractV3.1 but I haven't used it yet because I didn't think it was a problem with the image but instead how I was writing it.
Am I missing something that I need to change in the settings? From what I can gather the only problem is that the writer doesn't know it needs to change layer and going through verbs like biscuits could get quite expensive...
Now because its a laptop... IF it is down to me needing a different writer can I get an external USB writer that can do the job and what/where from. Or if alternatively its not my writer I'm having problems with but my program settings, what exactly am I missing?!

I think there should be enough details for you guys there, if you nee any me just let me know. I could really do with your feedback on this one, thanks for your time =)
EDIT: I think my problem is the booktype, how do I change this to DVR ROM? Will this allow me to now burn properly without confusing the drive at 50%? I've foud book type options in imgburn only I don't think my drive is any in the list. I have a pioneer DVR-K14RA and the manufacturers listed are:
Nu Tech, Plextor, RICOH, Samsung, BenQ, LG, Liteon and NEC. What should I do?

hey i can verify the bioshock - dagger version you speak of definitely does work, so it's something you're doing...maybe the disc you are using is no good....you really need to use verbatim if you're not already

In imgburn, go to the bottom right corner and click on the book icon. If your burner is one of the drives supported for bit setting, select it and change the profile for DVD +R DL to dvd-rom. New firmwares don't require you to booktype, but if you can, why not?

Hey, I tried this tutorial on my Xbox 360 which is modded. I did number two as the torrent i got was already patched. When i used CloneCD and tried to open the two files (iso,dvd file) It could only see the dvd file, and when i clicked on it, it said "Error Opening Nba 2k8 iso. The system cannot find the item specified," So i put all files instead of Clonecd image control files. The iso pops up now, so i use that instead. I click my burner, start the process. And it burns 100%. But when i try to play it on my xbox360, it says unreadable, or just stays at reading.

you need to open the .dvd file in ccd.
make sure it looks like this:
LayerBreak=1913760
<insert name of iso here>

hey, i just have one question, can i download a game and burn it the way it tells here on the first page. i will be able to play it online right? without any problem? just patch the game and burn the game and then just play it online. right? oh yeh, and i have a a chip in the xbox. its a modded xbox 36O. thanx..

hi i was wondering if anybody can help me i have pioneer DVD-RW DVR-110D writer my xbox 360 is modded and i download a game which was in .rar files i extracted the, have it gave me 1 single .iso image file i burnt this file using CloneCD but my xbox 360 didnt reconize the disc is there something i did wrong the xbox ss merger didnt work it said something like this is a extreme iso no video parition im am really stick with what to do next

there are usually 2 files that are extracted. A dvd file and an Iso file. you need to set up clone cd so that it burns the dvd file. the Iso will automaticly be put on the dvd. see if the dvd file is some were on you computer. I ran quick par it fixed a file and made dvd file for me one time before. Then I extracted the rar.01 it made the additional iso.. search your computer for *.dvd(*=name of iso file you extracted) 1.see if it put it in the wrong place. 2.if you still have the rar files try and run quick par to make sure everything is complete 3.extract it again.

right got it now it was put in the wrong place so its the 1kb dvd file which needs to be burnt not the iso file and is my pioneer DVD-RW DVR-110D capible for the job and is it ok to burn at 1x speed to be safe or does it have to be 2x

My first try was a sucess!! but i think it was a fluke.
Could some please explain the files that were used.
for example: I downloaded halo 3... it was i think 68 files, about half of them were .rar, when I unzipped the first .rar it was a 7 gig .iso file (thats the only one i unzipped)
I think the .dvd file point to the first .iso file.
I burned using the .dvd file and xbox backup creator and it worked.
All files remained in the same folder.
1. What was the purpose of all the other files?
2. Were they used for any purpose at all?
3. Did I even have to unzipped the first?
4. Do you ever need multiple .iso files? Or is it always one .dvd and one .iso ?

Ok I seem to be having a strange problem. Anytime I extract then burn a game and it is image.iso with the image.dvd file it works perfectly fine.
However, when I extract a game and it is image.000 and image.dvd it burns fine but then when I try to play it in the 360 it does not work. I always check the .dvd file to make sure that the layerbreak is set and that the filenames match.
I am using Imgburn, but I have also tried using Clonecd and I have the same problem. Any helo would be greatly appreciated.

all the 68 files were all one big .iso file broken into 68 smaller files, so each file was like 49mb or 100mb. when you extract the first one, it looks if the second part of the file is in the same folder and then third part and so on. then if all parts are there it will finish extracting and give you the 7gb file. If your missing lets say part 36, when it gets to that part it will say part 36 missing or something then you cant complete it without it.

hey ppl.. i am new to this whole burning thing....i have a modded xbox360, dvd dl burner and dvd dl +r...
i download games from the net but i am confused of how to burn them. when i download a game i see compressed files listing from 001-073 all of them having 95mb and there are other files such as an nfo file with less memory.
my question is how do i burn this to work in my xbox360 do i just uncompress each and every single file and burn it to a dvd dl as an iso using clone cd or do i burn it as how i download it from the net or what is the correct way to do this.
i have read the different listings here in this forum and i dont see any iso file when i download the games. how would i go about finding that file... could someone give me a detailed response to my question, i am dying to do this..thanks

Hi I tried to read as much as I can but I still don't know how to backup an original XBOX 360. My XBOX 360 is modded with XENO 360 chip so it's not flashed. I've seen tutorial for flashed XBOX but I didn't find fot XBOX 360 modded with modchip. So if anyone could help me even to post a link to a tutorial, I would be very greatful.
So I have:
XBOX 360 modded Xeno 360
Pioneer Comstar -111 dvd DL burner
Verbatim 2.4X DVD+R DL
Please help what software do I need (I've found many software on this site) and how to use them to make a copy of an original XBOX 360 game. Sorry for my stupid questions but I didn't find a complete and nice description. Maybe I didn't know where to find them.

I created an image from my original game using xboxbackupcreator. I did it with a flashed kreon samsung drive. Now i have the iso and the dvd file. I tryed to burn the image with imageburn (latest version). I set the layer break manually. I use the recommended dvd dl writer from pioneer and the verbatim dvd dl. When i try to burn the image imageburn says it can not set the layer break when burning dvd-r dl in DAO mode. When i change DAO mode in the settings to write type Incremental it says the same.I know this is a noobish question but please can somebody answer my question because i dont want to waste to many verbatim dvd dl because they are very expensive.
Sorry for my bad english.
